I agree! It’s one of my favorites! It even sounds like a prison if you were walking down the roll with chains and bar sounds! Vert eerie but yanks on your heart n soul 🥰
His live version of this song with his wife (she sings backup for him) recorded on Austin City Limits is fantastic. Chris also did the BEST National Anthem before the Super Bowl (American Football Championship Game) a couple years ago that caused grown men to cry. Just him and his guitar.... you really should check it out.
"No autotune" was what I think you were trying to say. He would have fit in any era of country since the '60s. He has a classic country vocal mixed with a smooth soul/blues background. Good reaction. Thanks for sharing.
The female backing vocal is sung by his wife, Morgane. They met in Nashville as both were songwriters. Chris has always given Morgane a lot of credit for his success.
This song was written by the great Dean Dillon, Nashville songwriter who wrote a lot of hits for artists like George Strait, the King of Country Music! Over 50 #1 hits.
Now you have to continue on down that rabbit hole, but it's a good one to go down!!!! I love his live version of Cold and him and Justin Timberlake at the ACM's!!!
If you can react to Chris live. He is one of those rare artists that are way better live. I'd recommend "Sometimes I Cry" from the bing lounge and his CMA performance with Justin Timberlake " Tennessee Whiskey/Drink You Away"
(;butt AR didn't watch live video, so🙄👇;) Chris looks at his wife singing with him on stage as he has stage fright & she is his strength, as she'd told him he should sing his own songs v's just writing more for others, just before they got married! & Morgan's pregnant with their 5th baby right then! 💛🧡❤️
Christ Stapleton is like BTS.... they have AMAZING studio versions, but there is just that extra spark whenever they perform live. :) Some artists just thrive on the live stage.
Always recommend listening to him live. Live he is more blues, soul. Recorded version usually removes a lot of his grit. He sings with a lot of grit Live
Really wish you’d do this live Then Live-COLD AND SAY SOMETHING ( with Justin Timberlake) They will blow your mind 😊 But man fr his live is a whole different thing 😊❤😊❤
Chris Stapleton is immensely talented! He has a rock band called The Jompson Brothers and a bluegrass band The Steeldrivers as well as his solo country career! I don't think you can call him the GOAT yet though.Thats a bit disrespectful to many like Hank Williams Sr and Jr,Jonny Cash,Waylon Jennings and several more.I suggest you check out those artists and definitely more of Chris Stapleton!
Terry Blacks in Austin Texas bbq a must! You have to do the live of Chris..whole new level. Check out what are you listening to live o radio. Amazing Chris original band was bluegrass called steeldrivers. Check them out as well.
This is a cover FYI. Recorded '81 David Allen Coe. Chris has BY FAR made it a hit. I agree with others HIS LIVE VERSIONS (of every song) ARE BEST!!! He collabs with Justin Timberlake too.
In your earlier reaction you said you wanted to check out more Queen. Let me give you some live performances to check out. Their live performances are always epic and usually a little different than studio. Tie Your Mother Down live at Wembley July 12th performance and watch the audience. amazing! Under Pressure, Now I’m Here and Love of My Life at Wembley 1986 as well. Keep Yourself Alive, Save Me, Dragon Attack and Another One Bites the Dust live at Montreal. Who Wants to Live Forever official studio and live at Budapest. 2 different takes on the song. And of course their Live Aid performance. Considered by many the best rock performance. Watch the 4K version. I know this is a lot but you won’t be sorry.
@ARClassics great reaction but…when doing Chris reactions, you have to do LIVE performances!! “Tennessee Whiskey (Austin City Limits)”!He is so much better live! He lets it rip live!! That’s his wife Morgane singing harmonies with him & does in most of his songs! Also please react to his performance “2021 CMA Awards “Cold”. 🔥. He won Grammys,CMA’s,etc., for it. He’s an amazing singer, writes his own songs, plays his own guitar solos, an incredible soulful, blues,R&B & Outlaw Country voice! He’s a living Legend!! And Black Pegasus will agree he’s much better live!!!! Thanks friend!!
As others mentioned, check out Cold, and I Was Wrong, everything should be live, with the exception of the studio version of Death Row. Recommend Cold then Death Row, and then you can form an opinion. With the exception of Death Row, only live performances do him justice, the studio tracks kind of dilute his impact, like the accelerator only goes to "10", but the live performances punch the gas pedal to "12". For nostalgia check out "Amanda", which he did not write, along with TN Whiskey, the remainder of his performances on YT, he all wrote. He is really blues, soul, Southern rock, with a sprinkling of country. Enjoy!!
His live is 95% better always
He shines live
His "live" performance is the BEST!
Oh man! Should react to his Live performance to get the full Chris Stapleton experience.
His live performance on Austin City Limits is the best. Also, he sings Cold at the ACM awards. Priceless!
Definitely!
*Cold*
LIVE FOR SURE.
Cold CMA is awesome
And thats Chris on the guitar also
🎸 🎸 🎸 🎸
That's his wife singing in the background.
We all owe his wife a HUGE thank you. Without her, Chris would still be in the proverbial shadow.
He and Justin Timberlake did a duet with this song and Justin's Drink Me Away on CMA Awards. It is a great performance.
This!
100% this. One of the best live performances I’ve ever seen
Always do his live performances so amazing ❤with his wife
If you would like to see grown NFL football players brought to tears, watch Chris sing our (USA) National Anthem, it’s amazing.
Best version I have heard
His performance of "Cold" at the CMAs is unreal! You need to react to it. 😊
Chris Stapleton-Death row -is veryyyyy soulful
It’s blues and it’s epic 😊
I agree! It’s one of my favorites! It even sounds like a prison if you were walking down the roll with chains and bar sounds! Vert eerie but yanks on your heart n soul 🥰
The live version is way better than the studio version. Lightyears apart.
We’re all here and ready for you to react to this live at Austin City Limits❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
YES!! 1000%
Chris is always better LIVE!
I'll check out some live performances
Welcome to the rabbit hole of Chris Stapleton. He is a master of his own genre. Live is best!
That's Chris on guitar and his wife on backing vocals
Welcome to Chris. He’s his own genre. But you must see him live. Check out his performance with JT on the Cma’s…best live performance of all time!😍😎
Without a doubt my favorite performance by him of this song.
He's incredible live!!! His wife is also fantastic!!!
Chris and Justin Timberland are buddies. They did a live version of this song and Drink You Away at the CMT's(Ciuntry Music Awards). 🔥 🔥 🔥
I'd listen to him sing the dictionary. I absolutely love EVERYTHING he's done. Not a bad song in his catalogue.
Chris is one of those rare singers that actually sound better live than studio. Need to check out his live versions.
The female voice you mentioned is his wife.
His wife Morgane.
You need to always listen to Chris live. He is even better live. He is the GOAT.
Him doing the National Anthem...insane.
Yes love brisket!!
He is so much better live, IMO. Austin City Limits is the best live that I have found. BP is great! Thanks for all your reactions, much appreciated!
Chris is simply amazing. He has sooo many great songs.
I Was Wrong
Cold

What Are You Listening To
Sometimes I Cry
Watch his super bowl performance of the star spangled banner. It made grown men cry. He's something else.
Agree 100%!!
Do his Austin City Limits live version of this song. It's even better!

Chris is 🔥

The less there is behind Chris, the better he sounds. "Sometimes I Cry" and "What Are You Listening To" with just Chris and his flattop are examples.
yeah, his wife sounds so good singing with him :) you should do the live version and check out "Cold" from the cma award show
His cover of The Whipping Post by the Allman Brothers is fire ❤
The live version is straight FIRE
Always chose Live for Chris. He gives so much more vocal and guitar tricks.
The female backing vocal is sung by his wife, Morgane. They met in Nashville as both were songwriters. Chris has always given Morgane a lot of credit for his success.
Listen to Chris's live performaces...performances.... COLD. Mans'worlg.
Checkout his rendition of the National Anthem from the superbowl. His voice is soothing yet powerful.
Watching the players as he sings adds that extra something also. That's one of the reasons why good, authentic reactors like AR do so well.
Love that you reacted to this!!
Your Channel
Your Rules 🤗
I have been following your channels for awhile now. Love your authenticity and love you with Black Pegasus. ❤
" Cold " by Chris is my favorite.
This song was written by the great Dean Dillon, Nashville songwriter who wrote a lot of hits for artists like George Strait, the King of Country Music! Over 50 #1 hits.

For sure, will do so
I agree with these suggestions ❤️🔥
One of the few artists to sound better live. Gives me sam Cooke vibes
His National Anthem was by far the best of all time. He beat Whitney Houston who was the best. U should react to it. He had players crying
Do "COLD" LIVE AT CMA AWARDS
Watch live or listen to anything…none of it will disappoint. He’s one of those entertainers…I promise.
Classic tune .... never get tired of hearing it

AR when it comes to Stapleton, go with live versions when possible-you won't be disappointed ;-) ❤
Will do, Donna

His wife, Morgane, is amazing. The songs to hear her best are imo “Amanda” live at the grand ole opry and “You are my sunshine” the live version. 😁
Chris Stapleton is immensely talented! He has a rock band called The Jompson Brothers and a bluegrass band The Steeldrivers as well as his solo country career! Can't forget the recently departed Kris Kristofferson in that list.
And Willie Nelson 😊
