Travis Barker is very good at what he does. The style he plays, pretty much any decent drummer can say "I can do that" but its his energy, the way he plays it, thats what makes him special.
Come on people. Travis barker is great because he's unique. That's important for a drummer. He 's not only a drummer. He's a musician. You can't judge a musician in terms of skill. The passion, enthusiasm, stage presence are more important for rock musician. He play simple beat because it's catchy and the beat is solid and nice. Everyone loves 4/4 beat. No body in the whole wide world can play a simple 4/4 beat as super as travis barker.
You know what you people can't do? You can't make a crowd of thousands go crazy just by playing something simple, but full of passion (or drugs, it doesn't matter anyway, what matters is capturing the moment).Obviously I'm not talking about everyone. Travis barker is one of the people that can do it as it seems. His groove is consistent for the most part, and this hi-hat stays open, because that's the energy that's exploding from within him at that exact moment. That moment, people, is art......
all I can say is WOW!!! so much Talent in such a little body! and he is such a great guy, great dad, husband and all around person! who would of thunk it?
Neil Peart, Travis Barker, and Buddy Rich. Alll time favorites. Neil Peart is my favorite out of those three because my favorite band is Rush. I've already been to 7 concerts from them and I'm only 12. I saw blink 1 time on September 15, 2011, on tour with my chemical romance. Travis made me splooge. Neil made me splooge 16 times in under an hour.
Drumming is about dynamics with the band to make good music and totally kicking ass...so if people cheer and get drunk to your shit then don't hate just cheer along! Travis isn't in my top 10 but I appreciate that he rocks out and makes non-drummers like drums!
I don't get why you guys hate so much? Cant you see he gave those fans a memory for life? He knows how to give them what they want and that's what he does. And I do no think that was his best.
THIS is a solo from the all well known drummer? Why is he so well known and hold up such a worthy reputation if he plays so simple? Every drummer should be famous if this is all it takes...
@awesomesaucemcgeezer he's not wasting energy. He's making drumming a sport in its own way.And you can't blame him for enjoying himself while playing, that's what music should be all about.
i see alot of people saying that wasnt good, im not a drummer but my eyes and ears tell me he is pretty damn good this is like the first drummer solo i ever seen so maybe i dont have any other examples to compare from so maybe i don't know what im talking about but i bet anyone talking trash wouldnt mind having him in their band
Why the hell do would you hate on him? he's talented and has created memories for me through blink 182. Go listen to bieber if you can't appreciate true talent.
I'm impressed by his playing, it's got energy and power. He's keeps time well, but certainly not exceptional drumming. It's just fun and good to watch. There are SO many great drummers, it's best to check them out before honoring someone like this who is just pro, and good.
@xDaNiEldrummerx if you look at one of the videos (im dont remember which one) Travis Barker is being interviewed and he says that "he hates it when people think of him as just a rock drummer. He grew up with latin and jazz drumming, which is how he got into drumming" So Travis Barker grew up playing latin and jazz and stuff
Listen up people! Travis barker is an amazing punk/grunge raunchy make you wanna fight type of drummer and I think he's one of the best at it but overall best no, not in my eyes but that's because I'm a Vinnie Colaiuta, Mike Johnston,Tony Royster jr., Danny Carey, Thomas Pridgen, Jojo Mayer and so many other drummers fan. So if you only listen to punk then of coarse he's gonna be the best in your eyes but if you don't then you'll realize that everyones great in their own unique way because that
When I look at vids starring Haake, Harrison, Rich, Peart and many more I feel like I really suck. When I look at this, my confidence goes straight back up!
@cfcefa09 Its because of his image, he has created a sense of "cool" around his music. But he is a pioneer in the sense that he has combined rock and rap together really well....
He's like a ringo starr. Not so high on talent but plays his role. It takes someone who plays beyond their role and genre that makes them great though. Players like Keith Moon, John Bonham, Buddy Rich and so on will be remembered for reaching outside their genres and incorporating it into their style, like Bonham's jazz in some of his rock songs. I am sure he has a few ghosts that no one has even discovered yet. Don't hate him, hate the idiots that blindly follow :D
@seth11111 Yes, if there are absolutely no other instruments playing at the same time, then yeah, its a solo! I agree that rudiments do take more skill etc. but the sped travis barker can move around the kit is just as impressive! he started as a drum line snare player, and while he might not demonstrate it in this solo, he can play all sorts of rudiments and double strokes and that sort of thing
@seth11111 a solo is an single player, playing a single instrument or group of instruments! what they play doesn't stop it being a solo. so what if its all 4/4, thats his style, hes mainly a rock drummer, 4/4 is what he knows best. and yeah a lot of it might just be single stroke rolls, but the speed is a display of technical skill just as much as fancy rudiments
@MrMcLovinator yeah well I'm a realistic person, I don't go around videos saying "he sucks" just because he doesn't play everything. travis may not be one of my favorite drummers but I know travis is a great drummer and knows all of the most important things in drums: keeping a beat, rythim and being clean, and not sloppy. Just appreciate him for his own work!
TB SOLO 101: stand, sit (x3) raise hand over head for dramatic effect. Play basic rock beat. Throw in some basic rolls while raising your arms as high as they could go. Play as loud and fast as you can then pause for breath. Raise arms over head again. Finish louder and faster than before. You now could do a solo like Travis Barker. It's genius, because he's a drum god. He has tattoos and drums are high in a crane. I guess that makes him talented.
@drummerplusone Congrats on that & I'm glad to hear you stuck with somethin you love. I don't have the same percussive resume as yourself, although I do understand what you're saying. I've been blessed with amazing instructors who have helped given me a more accurate perception in differentiating between real talent and a lack there-of. You & I both know there's more to drumming than that, but I AM talking about style. 2ft stick heights are ridiculously unnecessary but it's made him millions.
i've heard a lot of times that travis barker is the best drummer in the world. now i come here to see what this guy can do, and i see a normal solo, nothing special, but not too bad. man listen to ANY rush songs, it doesn't have to be a neil peart's solo, just a song, and you'll what a real drummer is.
I keep seeing people calling Barker "Travesty Barker," I think it takes a lot of fucking guts to get on stage in front of 1000's of people every night and play, especially after the plane crash, he's having fun doing what he's doing, and he's in a very successful band, or was, I'm not sure about Blink's condition right now, but you guys get what I mean, Travis is a tough dude for what he's been through in my opinion, and a beast on the drums.
@Oxpost I think you feel sick because you know that its either gonna take a long time, its gonna be really hard, its gonna take a lot of work or you arnt gonna be as good as them on drums. The reason why you feel more confidence watching this is because you know you will eventually be able to play this and some of travis barkers other beats and solos and that it wont take such a long time and wont be so hard.
@DrChode94 I'm 13 and I can play the fill in Ruin by Lamb of God, a hell of a lot of Rush and tons of other shit and I have been playing less than a year. How long has this guy been playing for?
I dont give a fuck if he makes it look harder or if he wastes too much energy, he looks badass and he plays the drums pretty good, thats ok for me, he's fucking awesome.
I don't understand, why do people keep thinking faster is better ! In guitar, there is a world record about a guy who can play guitar at 320 bpm but nobody cares about that guy ! Speed is technique, and making music isn't making a machine, it needs not only technique but also soul and passion in it
No matter what any one says, Travis Barker is a beast drummer, though he isnt the best, but I dont see any other drummers out there who are remixing hits and making them 10x better. He has tallent, but it may be limited.
@seth11111 you could say that about any solo. 'oh thats just playing different beats' 'thats just playing lots of fills together' 'hes just hitting things'
I'm sure Travis sits home crying because some of you aren't impressed.... Hate all ya like, but the guy has skills... Neil Peart is awesome as well.. What I like about Travis is that he'll play drums to any kind of music.. He's entertaining to watch... So you drum snobs can hate all ya like.. It won't make a bit of difference to me, or to Travis for that matter.. When you get on stage and perform like him, please post it and let us all know.. Those who can, do; those who can't whine
why are so many people hating on travis barker? so what if he plays fast hes better than all of you... he may not be as good as some old school classic drummer but hes better than you will ever be... i think hes sick and he is by far the best musician in blink 182, and all the bands hes ever been and ever will be in
I can see travis barker becoming one of the greatest drummers in the world. Neil pearts solos are way more intense but damn. Im eager to see travis age and gain experiance. No doubt, Travis Barker, upcoming super man drummer of the world!
Travis Barker is great. others who say this is easy is wrong. Playing drum in your training room is one thing. Playing drum in front of millions and with dizzy light effects, naked, and crowd cheering is hard lol
@IronDrummer123 He got these things because he's talented. Seriously you all need to stop hating on the guy and accept the fact that he got where he is on his talent alone. Buddy Rich is a better drummer but in no way does Travis Barker not deserve everything he has up til this point.
@cadaverr Of course mate!!! Finally, a man with good taste!!! There's still hope on earth... If I had to give some names, I would definitely say these ones: Thomas Lang, Vinnie Colaiuta, Mike Mangini, Dennis Chambers, Chris Coleman, Jojo Mayer and Steve Gadd. What about this shortlist??? ;)
@therevengeofficial you know that solos are not always about just hitting alot of things on the kit. Travis Barker has rythym. He has a certain beat and makes it sound good. Hes not just smackin the whole set around and calling it a solo. He has a rythmic beat and is playing it with style.
it's amazing how all teenage blink-182 fans say OMG Travis is the best drummer ever! and then they have never heard of Krupa, Rich, Bellson, Weckl, etc
I'm not going to talk shit, he's a good drummer and all, but the show is all in the clear set and flashing lights. I've only been playing since this past christmas, litteraly not even two months, and I could already play most of this. Some of these beats are complex, but in actuality, they are one complex thing played repetitively.
Travis Barker is very good at what he does. The style he plays, pretty much any decent drummer can say "I can do that" but its his energy, the way he plays it, thats what makes him special.
This dude can truly drum!!!! He's amazing. Tons of unique beats.
travis barker is id say one of the best today, even from his days in his funk band he blends in with pop punk so easily
Videos like this, all over UA-cam, continue to remind me why Buddy Rich is the best drummer of all time.
This was the first video I ever watched on UA-cam, back in the summer of '06 baby.
all I can say is WOW!!! so much Talent in such a little body! and he is such a great guy, great dad, husband and all around person! who would of thunk it?
i saw them last night...travis barker is amazing!

Music is an art. There are some artists who are better than others but there is no best artist...
I would pay money to watch him over any other drummer.....period. It's entertainment and he is more entertaining than any drummer I've seen.
Drumming is about dynamics with the band to make good music and totally kicking ass...so if people cheer and get drunk to your shit then don't hate just cheer along! Travis isn't in my top 10 but I appreciate that he rocks out and makes non-drummers like drums!

THIS is a solo from the all well known drummer? Why is he so well known and hold up such a worthy reputation if he plays so simple? Every drummer should be famous if this is all it takes...
Travis Barker: an idol to people who don't drum - low/intermediate drummers. Basically what he does is standard drumming while making it look good.
@iwishthiswouldwork1 please do show me a video of you doing what he just did I would be thrilled to watch it
Travis is the best drummer-at least for me- ever! Love him! :D ♥
HOT!! and amazing at the same time
where is the original drums solo Travis baker of crank that? theres no available video i check up?
@awesomesaucemcgeezer he's not wasting energy. He's making drumming a sport in its own way.And you can't blame him for enjoying himself while playing, that's what music should be all about.
i see alot of people saying that wasnt good, im not a drummer but my eyes

Travis is one of the best drummers known to man kind.
Travis Barker is a solid drummer, no more, no less. He's really notable because he is the essential punk rock drummer.
awesome solo
the king of the drums !

Dang he is amazing:)
This guy is really good, I like his style. What band does he play for? I'd like to find some of there music.
@wallavious is that some sorta tool reference? yr SOOOO creative
BEAST!!!!! Boy gets down.

That is a sweet drum set
That was sick with all the lights
When I look at vids starring Haake, Harrison, Rich, Peart and many more I feel like I really suck. When I look at this, my confidence goes straight back up!
i love travis!!!!!!!! hes my personal fav after jimmy sullivan!
I had to stop 20 seconds in cuz it was so mind blowin and amazing
the best, o cara é fod@

@jaqua524 your drumming skill video is awesome.
i love him
More than half of this solo sounds like my first drum lesson.

yo whoever hates or dislikes someone from a video they saw, they should keep to themselves since people like travis have a huge variety of fans.
@DrChode94 I'm 13 and I can play the fill in Ruin by Lamb of God, a hell of a lot of Rush and tons of other shit and I have been playing less than a year. How long has this guy been playing for?
@LibertyTree99 where is that static coming from?
I dont give a fuck if he makes it look harder or if he wastes too much energy, he looks badass and he plays the drums pretty good, thats ok for me, he's fucking awesome.
@snaredrummer432 I dont see a link to your solo....

@robbiesilverwolf It's the same thing during the whole solo, does it really appear that hard to "make up" this "awesome" sound in his head?
Fuuuuuuuuucking amazing !
No matter what any one says, Travis Barker is a beast drummer, though he isnt the best, but I dont see any other drummers out there who are remixing hits and making them 10x better. He has tallent, but it may be limited.
He is BADASS!!!!! LOVE IT! Oh yea did I mention that he is fine as hell too.
@seth11111 you could say that about any solo. 'oh thats just playing different beats' 'thats just playing lots of fills together' 'hes just hitting things'
einfach nur geil!!!
@ChiMayor how is that a tool reference?
Best drummer in the world.
I remember my first drum solo.

HOLY SHIT! wow he should make a band
he's not horrible and i wish people would leave him alone with comparing him to people that are clearly better than him
@YeaFooFighters But why exactly Travis Barker, not for example, Jordison or Dolmayan or some classic rock drummers like Keith Moon, John Bonham?
Where was this and when?
Hellzzz yeah.(:
Travis Barker.
@dieguete2442 it's not the complexity of the solo it's the fact that he makes up this awesome sound randomly in his head as he is drumming
@IronDrummer123 He got these things because he's talented. Seriously you all need to stop hating on the guy and accept the fact that he got where he is on his talent alone. Buddy Rich is a better drummer but in no way does Travis Barker not deserve everything he has up til this point.

wasnt this guy in the movie "The Rocker"???he auditioned for being the drummer of A.D.D.
@iwishthiswouldwork1 finally someone who gets it
Travis barker = GOD!
@emContradiction ur buddy is gooooooood
If there's anyone famous who deserves hench arms, he's definately one of them.
I don't know if he's the best drummer, but he seems to enjoy it... and me too ! I think it's what it is all about, no?
@mapexdrums and thats why he's preforming in front of thousands of fans crazy and your working 9 to 5, i'd like to see one of your solo's.
@therevengeofficial you know that solos are not always about just hitting alot of things on the kit. Travis Barker has rythym. He has a certain beat and makes it sound good. Hes not just smackin the whole set around and calling it a solo. He has a rythmic beat and is playing it with style.
@pepijnowns i agree the rev rocks!! He died young imagine the skill he could have gotten when he reached the age of neil peart
it's amazing how all teenage blink-182 fans say OMG Travis is the best drummer ever! and then they have never heard of Krupa, Rich, Bellson, Weckl, etc
just incradiblllllllllle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not going to talk shit, he's a good drummer and all, but the show is all in the clear set and flashing lights. I've only been playing since this past christmas, litteraly not even two months, and I could already play most of this.
Some of these beats are complex, but in actuality, they are one complex thing played repetitively.
@CaatupiryHabbo That's by far the best downgrading of Buddy Rich I've heard in a long while.
Other than almost having a seizure watching this that is pretty damn good.
@ItsShivesTime Also: Dennis Chambers, Simon Phillips, Ronald Bruner jr., Thomas Lang, Billy Cobham etc.
