Wow this young lady just described how I felt my entire life. I only used to like wearing African hairstyles because I felt like that's who I am in the inside. I was ashamed of my skin color and hair texture because it wasn't black enough. Every time I was rejected it was I act like a white girl . My own grandmother who is a black woman asked me as a child if I thought I was better than my family because I'm light skinned. People always disregard your pain and heartache when they think you have pretty privilege. They don't see your depression or suicidal thoughts because of rejection and abuse. People always want things that they don't understand.

🤓🤓I would say beauty is only in the eye of the beholder. What is beautiful to some is not beautiful to others. I've always said some people are just color struck.
Not saying that many light-skinned people does this but some do take their light skinned as a privilege and use it in their advantage.
A lot of light skinned people know that their skin tone is an advantage and you can tell this while you're out in public with their friends. Example when you see a light-skinned female and a dark-skinned female together or let's say a few of them is walking together in public the lighter-skinned female always seems much happier than the darker females, look to see in the crowd of them to see which are more happier. I know a lot of people may disagree but just start taking notice. The word Afro in front of a race, nationality or ethnic group is really an American thing that has really taken off worldwide.
People use the word Afro to identify their African lineage or may some say heritage, it was really brought out to be recognized that you are not only an American but you do have that African descent. Whereas a lot of people Not educated with this terminology will affiliate African-American with slavery which this should not be the case, because at this day in time African-American can also mean that you have one parent from Africa and another parent from America.
But the term African-American does sound a lot better then using the word black or negro in the Americas.
By using this terminology also excels our mentality to a profound sense of Excellence.

A deep and complex topic. Dark-skinned folk very often put lighter skinned people on a pedestal. Goes on everywhere from Asia, to the Americas, the Caribbean, Europe and all over. Why shouldn't the mixed race girl in the crowd look happier?

@@silentnight1918 A main reason for that, is that black folks form a young age grew up seeing one particular hue of skin tone, that lightness in skin is power & wealth.
