I used to watch King of the Hill religiously and I'll never forget the episode where Dusty was Hank's cousin it was hilarious rest in peace big man ✌️
The trio from little Ole Texas ....
Went to Europe, blew their minds, came back to North America, where we Canadians luv ZZTop , and never stop to Rock....... R.I.P Dusty Hill.
I was singing this in a restroom at a bar , this stranger hugged me said hell yea.. Good times. 🍺
The ‘Top often had train wrecks with backing tracks! They recover pretty well here!
On my TV 1980 , first song i ever heard of ZZ Top, Loved em for 44 years now
One of my favourite ZZ Top songs!
I've never seen the TOP like this before! Far out
RIP DUSTY WE WILL MISS YOU
That Lil ole band from Texas, this 3 man band sounds like a orchestra, god bless..
Лучшие бородатые дедушки в чёрных очках, в жанре кантри-поп-рок, блюз-рок, со своей харизмой и стилем. Они легенды навсегда. И да, светлая память Дасти Хиллу... 😎😓🤠🌷
RIP Dusty Hill.
Saw them in ‘75 with Aerosmith as the opening act....ZZ rules
Not anymore since MTV
I love all the early stuff as much as their commercial success era.
Das war damals ein tolles Konzeert. Alles mit dem Kassettenrekorder aufgenommen!
The audio is so great and fine .. so fine!
Rockpalast was famous for their live transmitted concerts. The WDR is one of the biggest TV-Stations in Germany. They had the perfect equipment for such recordings.
1st ZZ Top concert was The Townhouse in Groves, Texas, 1970 - tickets were $2.00.
Now the ticket is 200 n up
👍
Time keeps on ticking...
Going through a box of old ticket stubs the other day.
My first rock concert

Blues rock, slide guitar nut ever since.
(RIP Rory, Lou, Rod. Thank You!)
the guitar tone is perfect
Always has been!
Trying to play with a backing track don't always go smooth. Gotta love them Amish boys from Texas!
Reading all these comments I don't think most people picked up on that. That was a mess in the beginning. Good job by Billy Gibbons reigning it in though. I've had to reign a drummer in like that a few times and it's not a good time lol.
Very cool !!
Сколько концертов эти старые группы сделали вечная память всем ушедшим рокерам
Second concert was the Knights of Columbus Hall on 90 in Beaumont. The guy that produced both shows lives right around the corner from me, Al Caldwell
I saw this tour in Houston in 1980. Deguello!! (Expect no Quarter)
Personally, I think Deguelllo is their best album.
@@billsmith2041 I totally agree. Its what made me find the blues.
i saw them for this tour. still got the shirt and ticket stub.
Where at? What venues?
@@carywest9256 pittsburgh civic arena
First concert, 1974, 14 years old, zz Tops and Reo opening for 'em. Spokane, bunch of us snuck in.
Respect to the 'Top...…...
I was there. The last concert before mariage and lost youth.
J'adore ...
ZZtop Forever I Like So Much From Colombia Talking to You
My favorite band from texas
What a freaking trainwreck that intro was! :)
They were playing with a backing track
LOL-they must have been trying to cue the backing track for the horns and the video, and somebody screwed up. They recovered very quickly though, like real professionals. I'd bet the live audience barely noticed
Thank you!
killer riff,man!
The best!
R.ip Dusty Hill (1949-2021)
Weirdly Frank takes time to catch up the rythm but Monster Dusty takes care of all. wooow!
ahahahahah
No, the problem was they were trying to play along to a backing track and they came in off time, and had to catch up.
Definitely the backing track slipped him up.
@@ptolemyauletesxii8642 And we can't even hear the track :(
And he took over vocals as well!
When they were phenomenal
You damn right, there bad ass
Legend!
Man that recovery from being out of sync with the recording was choice. Pros makes mistakes like anyone else, but playing it off like nothing and getting back to it is what really defines a pro.
well it is true too, n dusty cooked bass , well , and he could sing too
best RnR band ever
Got one of my own, lol slide on down the road, blasting this and flaming pipes, ohhhhhhhh hell yea
hi
That's me driving the car so I guess they're singing about me! :)
Can you dig it!!
In Germany we call that: "Verbockt"...:-(
R.I.P. Dusty
now interestingly enough the back actually learned to play those horns in the backdrop.
ZZ fucking rules
best song 2 play on the juke box at the pub...
Billy starting singing too soon causing Frank to be off on his timing at the beginning, was fixed quickly but unfortunately because of timing the song wasn't included in the cd or digital release of the album.
Billy is a top character. Funny, smooth, voice that you clock instantly, and a guitarist with feel. Never rushes. Effortless slink. Massive sound. Got his own thing goin on.
Well somebody got off beat in the intro by 1/2 measure and they had to catch up ....love ZZ Top though ...it happens
Billy's got a great guitar sound ...
That would be that 59 les paul his is playing, just say'n.
I don't know why I wrote that cause the sound is actually quite thin - I guess in favour of that beautiful guitar ...
dockaiser Ive got an epi LP Ive had for around 10 years. Ive tried to get that sound forever and couldn't.
My volume and tone pots finally stopped working so I decided to replace everything...totally gutted the guitar and replaced pickups, wiring, pots....everything, even shielded everything w copper shielding tape.
I researched his sound and found that Seymour Duncan makes "Pearly Gates" pickups that give a sound of Billy and the Texas blues. I wired the pots in a 50's style and added those pickups and plugged it in w heavy distortion and it's as close to Billy's sound as I've ever come. It even adds the high pitch squealing (harmonics) on some notes..the Epiphone pickups just wouldn't do it no matter the distortion or stomp boxes used.
I can play several licks from their songs and have been working on learning complete songs but haven't because it didn't sound right.
So if you're trying to find his sound that's the route to go. No pedals needed just heavy distortion.
you can never get there because in 59 Gibson built LP's with very old Mahogany from central America. plus they used animal hide glue that they don't use anymore. the pickups can be fairly well duplicated. cost will be high though.
Don’t forget the brow face fender deluxe. They don’t make em like they used to
Queen Ann
Отлично!
It’s not the easiest thing to use a backing track like this. The intro to this where they get off with it and catch back up is a prime example of why it’s hard sometimes. Plus if you have bad sound on stage you might even be able to hear the backing track, let alone the rest of the band.
Also, I noticed that they have a video behind them. Is there any where that has posted that video? I would like to be able to see the whole thing.
I saw them in concert in 81 and they did this encore. I've been looking for this much of it for years. Also would love to see a full video of the film.
I REMEMBER SEEING THIS SHOW AT NAU AT THE SKY DOME VIDEO PLAYED OVER TOP OF STAGE!

Mighty fine .
This drums is not configured for the Blues Rock, but for Nicko Mcbrain
The ripper 2 is he using some sort of drum machine? Im a fan but not a musician.
Was the crowd chanting, "let's go Brandon"
In yer mind, son, rent free
Look closely at the guys it looks exactly like the guys playing the horns
Geez Reagan wasn't even sworn in as president yet when this was performed. Long time ago
5speedMax Carter was still president, the election wasn't until November of '80 swearing in on the 20th of January 1981...
Classic
💪💪💪💪 Essen , Grugahalle
I’m surprised they’re not chanting zed zed top
That's in the UK where they pronounce Z as Zed, this here is in West Germany. Sieg Heil those snitzelgrubers an ze pretty frauleins.

I saw them do this song live in the mid-90s and the intro was a disaster then too haha.

3 Texas boys rockin the Nazi Germans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I always wondered if something was wrong with Billy and Dusty's eyes because I've never seen them in the last 25 years without sunglasses and you try so hard to look through the sunglasses but you can never see their eyes that's just so weird to me
Hinreißend!
I get confused I know they played Germany On 19th and 20th but what day was the Rockplast show I know there is a CD/DVD of live show in Germany in 1980 called double down and on youtube there is a 4-20-80 show with groovy video did they play rockplast both nights or just the 19th if so there missing 6songs in CD/DVD combo
I thought the show was on the night from 19th to 20th of April 1980 in Essen Grugahalle - I think the show occured from 4 a.m. to 5.30 a.m. ! - on the itunes shop (in Germany) you find all 22 songs / tracks...the album called there "El Diablo, Recorded live at Rock Palace, West Germany"....it´s really great.
@@musikmarktmueller I know that they played like really late. I think they strated at like 11/12
pm and played in the morning
@@lastkayleeuw6706 Yes, I think the ZZ Top show occured from 4 a.m. to 5.30 a.m. on the 20th ! the Festivals started at 11 p.m. at 19th and ended with ZZ Top as the headliner.
Great madness ;-)
THE LONE WOLF HORNS RIDE AGAIN!
Wow. Sounds to me like they botched the count on the intro. So they shut down the horn tracks and the band played it 3 pc. I saw them on the Deguello tour, and the horn songs on the record were all included in the encore. And it was AWESOME!!!! Those horns were front and center in the mix when I saw them, and I'm not hearing them here, so the band just handled the HELL out of what could have become a trainwreck. Which I would expect from any good, professional band. So I say, nice work, guys!!! I've been waiting forever for someone to post some of the songs from this tour, that featured "The Lone Wolf Horns". Does anyone have any of these songs, where the band DIDN'T botch the sync?
Billy still had color in his beard.....Dusty did not.......only their hairdresser knows for sure.......A throwback to a commercial that old
Saw this show in Greensboro NC. Same screen (Lone Wolf Horns). Last time I ever saw them live - 4th and last time I saw them live - They lost their magic after 1980.
They lost their magic to you!👎🏻
I love these guys, but sometimes their ideas don't always work (like the WWTT). When they did Afterburner, I felt it was the worst they ever made. Then they toured for this album and had one of the coolest stage shows I ever saw (with a junkyard sculpture and moving escalators).
Wrong album
Franck Beard n est pas en place au début du morceau

ахахаха сука мы тоже любим бородатых дядек ))))))) респект всем кто любит рок н ролл
Slade should have been asked by Rockpalace!
I think the drummer's stoned or slightly drunk.. he's all over the place from the get-go!
nah Billy Gibbons messed up the intro, he was meant to follow Frank's lead as he was on track with the video going on in back. The Rev caught himself and corrected it quick though
EYEHATEJOSH frank was heavily on drugs at the time if I’m not mistaken.
Can’t hear those horns at all
They're not mic'd - fortunately =)
And a strange mistake on the first bars of the song! 😉 Even the best make mistakes!
musta been a little too much coke in the mix! Billy jumps 3 ft when he came out and Frank fucked up the beat!!!!!
I think Frank had to cue or trigger the playback horn section ...
ahahahahahha
She'd better not!
No tone like the Revs and he plays 7 gauge. The fuck?
bad idea on the sync thing.
Like Amish People off Rock Drugs..;))
I dont play that Rawk. Any 15 year old punk can play that mess. (Unknown Hinton).
