Keep the two doors, ditch the hallway door. The bathroom is more private to the master bedroom suite if it is accessible through the bedroom and not the hall.
As you get older, you will appreciate a door from the bedroom into the bathroom. Accessing the bathroom from the hall seems unnecessary. It is a private bathroom for your use (and the kids maybe) only.
I'd ditch the hall door, and use the last idea but instead of such a large (double) shower, use the rest of that space for the toilet. Such fun to watch!
...or just bump out the toilet room halfway into the dressing room leaving more space in the dressing room & a slightly less roomy double shower (still a double shower though).
I agree, the first time I only read the comments and thought is was nuts having two doors in the bathroom, but seeing KAIs rendering it was so beautiful. and I do think the toilet is easy adaptable. I do however think they need a door to the closet from the hallway
I like the last version, with the two doors into bedroom and dressing room. But, a smaller shower, which leaves enough room for the toilet without moving walls
I agree, keep the two doors and ditch the hall door. Makes it feel so much bigger and more roomy. Also, I like the smaller shower and the toilet next to it🙌👍Good luck on your decision
Whichever plan you choose with the doors to the bathroom, make sure to keep the independent access to the dressing room from the hallway. You need to be able to access it when someone else is using the bathroom.
I was referring to let's say, someone taking a relaxing bath and spending a while in the bathroom, thus preventing access to the dressing. However I do agree with you that the toilet door will alleviate the need for locking the entire bathroom for most uses. It depends on the use of that suite, guests, or homeowners I think.
If this was a sanctuary for my husband and me, I would absolutely walk through to the walk-in closet room. The toilet is private with the attached door. He has nothing I haven’t seen.
The last one with the video it is stunning. The flow makes it look so imposing, grand, really chateau like. The 2 doors are perfect placed for nice symmetry.
I totally agree with you Anna, keep both doors; that seems like the best flow for the bedroom/bathroom/dressing room. Some of those plans were just beautiful! Loved the last one that he actually sent a video on. Good luck picking the plan; that will be so nice when it's done. Have a wonderful week. Thanks for sharing this. (from Sandi)
I would definitely block off the hallway door and with regards to the bedroom/dressing room doors, you could have sliding doors that slide into the wall and keep it open most of the time, just close it if you need privacy etc.
love the toilet room inside the bathroom, not a fan of ultra modern vanities, I would want something that will grow old well with the chateau not look outdated like so many modern design end up looking. I also love the idea of keeping the two doors, it gives it a more ensuite feel and brings in more natural light which this chateau is all about. When the door to the corridor are closed you are in your own space, separate from the rest of the house.
Yes, having natural light from multiple directions is not just incredibly appealing visually, but it also means you can enhance air circulation throughout the space when the windows are open --something to be appreciated in increasingly hot summers!
Totally agree about the vanity in the bathroom; a chateau needs a French vanity, not the ultra-modern looking things that are popular now! I have a French vanity in my guest bathroom, and if the previous owners of my house had not already redesigned the master bath with more modern fixtures, I'd likely have put one in there, as well. And I just have a normal house, not a chateau!
Remove the hall way door and keep the two doors. I have to agree not liking the ultra modern. The ultra modern bathroom is not as aesthetically pleasing as something reflecting a more classical feel but with modern touches. Something very elegant yet simple. Your chateaux is stunning. Make the master suite equally as stunning.
I agree with Anna, close off the hallway door and keep the two doors from the bedroom and dressing room. It seems to be the most functional rather than constantly going in and out of the hall which is really more of a foyer to the master suite. The designs people sent you are gorgeous, I especially like the addition of paneling in the hall. Can't wait to see what you do!
Keep the two doors. You might remove the actual door to the bedroom so it stays open but keep the actual door to the closet. My house has the closet off the bathroom and steam from the shower can cause mildew to form on the clothing. If you can close the door to the closet then you can reduce the moisture in there which will reduce the chance of mildew on your clothing.
Same. I keep my closet door closed all the time, and had I properly envisioned this necessity, I'd have put a glass door into my closet so I'd still have natural light inside when I'm dressing there while hubby showers.
Close the door to the hallway and keep the doors facing each other. I don't like the word Feng Shui either, but having the openings facing each other keeps the flow alive. Also, you can see from the front to the back. Not many chateau owners can say that.
Last plan with mods: 1. As everyone indicates reduce the shower to provide space for the toilet. (less wall construction and does not interfere with the dressing room area doors from bedroom to bath & bath to dressing room.) 2. Keep an access door from the hall to the dressing room. (Gives access and the option to convert this room to a bedroom with a “Jack & Jill” shared bath.)
What would be really awesome is if you could do a 3d Matterport tour of the chateau completed rooms and rooms left to be done yet, basement and attic spaces like they sometimes do on Zillow or Redfin for selling homes and post it on you web page. Then people could really get an idea of what the chateau looks like and what you've done and what's left to be done.
Love the designs! Creative viewers, indeed! I also like the "two doors" design. It is more intimate and in keeping with a master/primary suite. Thank you for sharing!
I love the placement of mirrors for more light. Love the sink unit, toilet and bath and guessing a shower behind. The lighting feels very modern for the chateau and the Roman blinds would be great with a linocut design by Anna. Quite the transformation. Lovely.
Definitely keep the two doors open and get rid of the hallway door. It feels much more like a master suite and has a nicer flow instead of three separate rooms side by side :)
Wonderful video. I so love that you are asking viewers to get involved. You have some very talented viewers and I really enjoy seeing their designs. Wish I could help, but, alas, I'm just not that talented, so I'll just have to sit back and enjoy what others do and what you choose. It's fun!
Getting the door to the hall out is the best way to solve this. I really like the video-animated concept and think that moving the wall into the dressing room is a quite good way to get a double shower and the toilet into the bathroom, even if it's at the cost of a bit of space and the fireplace in the dressing room (but why have a fireplace in a dressing room!?)
In the after shot the creation of molding to look like French painted boiserie is perfect, and the incorporation of a mirror fitted into the paneled reserve above the bathtub is brilliant. Its like adding another window, reflecting the light and view. I also like how the roman shades match the wallpaper -very old school design and effective. I also like the contemporary lighting -its the 21st century after all, and by creating historic references with the paneling, its fresh and now with contemporary elements.
The design by Calvin is my favourite. It makes the whole master suite a private luxurious space. I know that it’s a lot of construction work but the design is really impressive. Love the wall paneling detail.
KAI gets my vote! It checks ALL the boxes. Light floods into & thru the spaces. And it truly feels like a GRAND owners suite, that's separate from the rest of the living quarters. A HUGE Shower, which can be enclosed to accommodate a shower/steam room. Plus a private toilet area. And the bonus for me is... Opening Up & Combining all 3 spaces... Gives you options for the future. As in... The dressing room could easily be converted to a nursery or sitting room. Or the combined space could be a converted into a separate living space, Studio Apartment/ Granny Flat.
love your sense of humor Philip. One vote for the front to back master suite (video). Lot of work but you don't need to worry about losing listed interiors. A 'cozier' interior could be achieved in an upper floor (lower ceilings).
I wish you could add a washer/dryer (stackable maybe to conserve space?) in the wardrobe area. A lot of new home builds are doing this here in America and you simply take the clothes out and hang them in the wardrobe area and/or simply walk down to the kids rooms. It's all on one floor. The Chateau is so big you can also have a laundry room for the guests, but this would only be for your personal use. I'm surprised that no one else mentioned this?
This is not always practical in EU. Most people dry their clothes on drying racks or clotheslines. Also, the centrifugal force from spinning the clothes would cause havoc in an older home like that.
So excited to see this transformation. I would keep the two interior doors through the Bathroom and close the entryway door. That view all the way through the area increases the spacial/palatial feeling. So excited!!!!!❤
I love Philipp's sense of humour! And impressive work today. The final plan with the 2 doors creating a flow from the bedroom through the dressing room. Instead of a double shower, a single with an enclosed water closet to the immediate right of the bedroom entrance, and closing off the door from the hallway.
Love the last design by Calvin with some minor tweaks:. 1. Two large pocket doors in the bathroom openings of the bedroom and dressing room. The pocket doors could have period frosted or patterned glass to allow for both light and privacy. 2 . In the dressing room, keep both the fireplace and the door to the exterior hallway. This allows for future flexibility with the space and does not remove historical features of the chateau. Love your humor and design aesthetics and thanks for sharing your life with us.
As Ann said, the last proposal is that the view from the bedroom, bathroom, and dressing room is fantastic. I would most certainly keep the double shower as proposed.
Wow! Amazing renderings! How nice to have such talented and generous patrons. I can’t wait to see what you decide. Wonderful job on the pipes and floor, Philipp. Have a great week.
Keep the two doors flowing from the bedroom all the way into the dressing room. That last animation by Calvin was my favorite. It was gorgeous and I really like that flow.
Keep the two doors. Your chateau was built with the idea of symetry in mind as it was fashionable at the time. These two doors would be congruent with that idea as they help the flow of the suite. You have many other bedrooms with their enduite bathroom in the chateau but this one is meant to be a suite unit so the flow helps with that. You can change other things around to suit your needs, such as reducing the size of that double shower, but the 2 doors are a must.
The last rendering is exactly what I had in mind when you first proposed your options. It keeps a really smooth flow between spaces and removes any unnecessary entry points. It is a private master space it should only be accessed through the main bedroom.
Absolutely love the idea of keeping as much light and flow as possible. It's a quality of life decision. Well done. What a lot of work! Thanks so much for sharing.
I agree with Anna. Keep the doors (& sightline) from the bedroom & dressing room & close up the door to the corridor. It will also give the feel of a totally private suite.
Love how the layout flowed of the last design. Perfect Finch Way design. Yes keep the two doors and I think you’re absolutely right about Light coming into the rooms from one room to another because of the south facing windows. It is so easy to get from one room to another that’s the point of a master suite. The paneling is a great idea. Also seeing one room from another adds luxury to the suite.
I lvoe the two doors and my favourite design was the one with the wooden cabinetry under the sinks, especially that little consol table in the middle, STUNNING!!
Anna, flow is so important & I agree w/your statement about keeping the doors. That keeps light coming into the bathroom and provides great flow! It also allows you to use the dressing room as a bedroom if you need to! I loved seeing all the plans! I wouldn’t move walls, it could create problems.
Offering your subscribers for their assistance is a stroke of genius..making it a collaborative effort..the decision making is more deliberate ..as you go on with the renovation it keeps opening doors to many experiences that just are… Anna the last idea with the doors I think is a goer..happy days to all..🌞
The two doors provide such a nice flow. The last video walk-through was incroyable! A clean and modern twist that marries so well with the traditional chateau.
The ensuite renderings from your audience were insightful. The view to the outside from the dressing room, through the bathroom, and into the bedroom was genius. The feeling was expansive, allowing me to take deep breaths. I would want this for myself.
Keep the two doors, keep one shower and add the toilet. You are both so hardworking and creative, I respect your work ethic, and the fact that you stay focused. I like the light added by getting rid of the hallway access and keeping the doors where they are presently situated so you can look straight through which provides a wonderful ambiance and feeling of real space. I am looking forward to seeing how you next progress. By the way Philipp, your expression when you cut through the pipe and discovered water was priceless! I burst out laughing. Keeps me tuned in to this channel, because I never know what to expect but know I will be uplifted! Thank you both.
Get rid of the door to the hallway. This is your private, luxurious space where you can retreat after a long day. When the girls are teenagers with friends running around, you will realize how nice it is to have your bedroom, bathroom, dressing room completely private. I loved that last design! Beautiful work. They were all amazing. xx
Definately the two doors! The view through is amazing. Really looking forward to seeing how you connect the spaces, so that they have cohesion, but still with defined function.
I agree with Anna about the flow …. Seeing the impact of the extra light is lovely too. Pocket doors that allow you to close off if/when required adds flexibility.
Keep the two doors and ditch the hallway door. I like the tub under the middle of the windows too that gave a very nice look. You certainly do have some talented viewers. Maybe combine them all and take the best elements of each to make the final look? You guys have so many great options but the way that you have finished the rest of the chateau proves that your taste is impeccable. Whatever you choose I can’t wait to see it.
Have you thought about sliding pocket doors from the bedroom and to the dressing room, this means you could have the wider opening for each room entrance and would create more light flowing through from the bedroom
All the other designs were great but that last one is amazing because it’s more adaptable to fit the style that you guys will want in there. And yes it may be a bit more work but the layout makes everything look more open more spacious and more private.
Anytime you can create a grand site line ,whether it be interior design or garden design , you allow one to get swept up into the magic of a space . It is even more powerful when a design carries you from one side of a building to the other…say from front entrance to a back terrace. Your eye is drawn in creating a sense of welcome and belonging.I totally agree with you Anna …allow the energy to flow from space to space . No reason to stop such a beautiful view ! 🇨🇦
Yes I agree keep both doors, it makes the flow much nicer and Phil throw your trash out the window and go outside when done and put on the flat bed trailer, I've been seeing this at other chateau remodeling, and it saves you from going up and down the stairs so much, the last two designs we're beautiful,
Keep the two doors, ditch the hallway door. The bathroom is more private to the master bedroom suite if it is accessible through the bedroom and not the hall.
This. 👍🏻
This will make a beautiful master suite 👍🏼
Keep the flow. You’ll be glad you did. The bathroom should not be accessible from the hall, however.
Commode could be placed in same room, next to shower, in space of where the hallway door (that would be removed) occupied.
Totally agree with this!
As you get older, you will appreciate a door from the bedroom into the bathroom. Accessing the bathroom from the hall seems unnecessary. It is a private bathroom for your use (and the kids maybe) only.
Completely agreed.
I'd ditch the hall door, and use the last idea but instead of such a large (double) shower, use the rest of that space for the toilet. Such fun to watch!
To have privacy in the toilet is priceless!!! 😊
...or just bump out the toilet room halfway into the dressing room leaving more space in the dressing room & a slightly less roomy double shower (still a double shower though).
Sure and if they want a bidet, they could have the ones that come hidden inside the toilet
Exactly, that is how would do it too!
Came here to say the same thing.
Keep the 2 doors like the last render, but delete the double shower. Just keep one shower so you can put the toilet in without moving any walls
I agree, the first time I only read the comments and thought is was nuts having two doors in the bathroom, but seeing KAIs rendering it was so beautiful. and I do think the toilet is easy adaptable. I do however think they need a door to the closet from the hallway
Totally agree!
I like the last version, with the two doors into bedroom and dressing room. But, a smaller shower, which leaves enough room for the toilet without moving walls
Keep the two doors. The flow is better and it makes feel like a luxurious suite as opposed to rooms off a private corridor.
I agree, keep the two doors and ditch the hall door. Makes it feel so much bigger and more roomy. Also, I like the smaller shower and the toilet next to it🙌👍Good luck on your decision
more Chateu... :)
Whichever plan you choose with the doors to the bathroom, make sure to keep the independent access to the dressing room from the hallway. You need to be able to access it when someone else is using the bathroom.
As long as the toilet is enclosed in it’s own room within the bathroom, the extra door may not be necessary .
I am sure they have a multitude of bathrooms to choose from if someone is in the bath.
If this was a sanctuary for my husband and me, I would absolutely walk through to the walk-in closet room. The toilet is private with the attached door. He has nothing I haven’t seen.
@@Lifewithoutmusicisamistakeyes, but if some one wants to walk through to the dressing room….? Some one we are not married to…?
The last one with the video it is stunning. The flow makes it look so imposing, grand, really chateau like. The 2 doors are perfect placed for nice symmetry.

Pocket door.
And if they reuse the original doors they will keep the heritage feel with modern practically.

100%, specially with a French Normand climate.

What a great job these strangers did.
I like the last rendering best. And it makes everything uniform and flows well.
That last rendering was so good! Maybe just use that one but make it a single shower and put the toilet back in without moving walls
Lovely.

The 3rd design is perfect!
So much easier for walls. It’s wonderful ❤❤❤
Definitely keep the two doors, it’s a private bathroom and dressing room for you two! Look forward to seeing it 💙
The little look Philipp gave us after saying he prefers a whiskey bar to a crowbar made me laugh out load! Priceless humor always!
I like the flow from the bedroom, through the bathroom and into the dressing room.
I love the big mirror in the bathroom. I would also keep the two doors. It makes the room light and airy
Wonderful video. I so love that you are asking viewers to get involved. You have some very talented viewers and I really enjoy seeing their designs. Wish I could help, but, alas, I'm just not that talented, so I'll just have to sit back and enjoy what others do and what you choose. It's fun!
Same here as you❤😊
Getting the door to the hall out is the best way to solve this. I also like the contemporary lighting -its the 21st century after all, and by creating historic references with the paneling, its fresh and now with contemporary elements.
I was 💯 Ingrid. Until the last rendering. The light coming through the closet and the washroom to the bedroom. Is wonderful.
Thanks for the touch of humour again today Phillip! Looking forward to seeing what you choose to do.
Philip´s dry humor is just the best! I giggled so much!
Definitely the flow of the beautiful last design, stunning.
love your sense of humor Philip. One vote for the front to back master suite (video). Lot of work but you don't need to worry about losing listed interiors. A 'cozier' interior could be achieved in an upper floor (lower ceilings).
I really like the last plan with the open flow through the rooms. It makes everything lighter and sunny. 🙂🇨🇦
I love the last render. That setup will be the most beautiful in my opinion.
I live in a 3 level condo and having a laundry on the bedroom level is a huge plus for my knees now that I’m 65-that’s a great idea!
You would dry the clothes outside anyway. so nothing gained.
I'm in the Rocky Mountains USA, and a Senior, so we don't hang clothes outside especially when it's minus twenty!@@emilwandel
This is not always practical in EU. Most people dry their clothes on drying racks or clotheslines. Also, the centrifugal force from spinning the clothes would cause havoc in an older home like that.
I had this in my last house, and loved it. Having a washer/dryer in the primary bedroom closet was incredibly convenient.
The openness of the two side doors is pretty nice, and I love the huge shower and enclosed restroom, with a double vanity, that's pretty cool!
The last plan is amazing-two doors and moving the wall. Worth the doing to make it right for your selves.
Love how the music makes pulling up an old floor mysterious and exciting.
What was most striking with those layouts was the flow for the two side doors & the shower position towards the back half. Very exciting planning.
The last rendering was beautiful. I would definitely keep both doors the flow is cozy and lets the light flow.
Thank you Kelvin - you understood your client. You showed Anna the beautiful master suite even she couldn't imagine. This is Anna !
Loved the last plan, the flow and the light.
Love your humor!!! 😊
Love the last design by Calvin with some minor tweaks:. 1. Two large pocket doors in the bathroom openings of the bedroom and dressing room. The last plan is fantastic for the flow and the light.
Seeing the old floor come up was so satisfying🎉
As Ann said, the last proposal is that the view from the bedroom, bathroom, and dressing room is fantastic. I would most certainly keep the double shower as proposed.
Wow, we witnessed the devine power of Philip😂😂😂
Wow! Amazing renderings! How nice to have such talented and generous patrons. I can’t wait to see what you decide. Wonderful job on the pipes and floor, Philipp. Have a great week.
Philip, you are such a delight!

Yes, Anna. Both doors (bedroom and dressing room). That was the warmest, friendliest (?) idea. Gorgeous. And practical.
I agree with you Anna, keep the two doors and have that open feeling with the light and view from both rooms. Excellent ideas from viewers.
I really like the final design you showed. It’s more work, but definitely worth it.
I agree with Anna. Keep the doors (& sightline) from the bedroom & dressing room & close up the door to the corridor. It will also give the feel of a totally private suite.
Love how the layout flowed of the last design. Perfect Finch Way design. I think keeping the privacy of a suite of rooms is the way to go. I agree Anna with the flow. So, one door from the master.
The last one was perfect and stunning ❤
I like the two side doors. It makes it more private for your suite and the flow is perfect!
OMG this animated video!! Amazing!!
That last plan really is fabulous and makes for a true Master Suite!
Offering your subscribers for their assistance is a stroke of genius..making it a collaborative effort..the decision making is more deliberate ..as you go on with the renovation it keeps opening doors to many experiences that just are… Anna the last idea with the doors I think is a goer..happy days to all..🌞
Oh I love seeing a glimpse of the bath tub as you enter the bedroom. How luxurious and gorgeous.
The two doors provide such a nice flow. The last video walk-through was incroyable! A clean and modern twist that marries so well with the traditional chateau.
the 3 rooms functionally belong together...so keep the 2 doors and shut the bathroom door...
the last proposal is the most impressive!
I like the last option, it looks amazing
The ensuite renderings from your audience were insightful. The view to the outside from the dressing room, through the bathroom, and into the bedroom was genius. The feeling was expansive, allowing me to take deep breaths. I would want this for myself.
i like the two doors open linking the rooms together. Beautiful renders.
I like keeping the two doors. I love the last floor plan. It was absolutely gorgeous.
Love the music. Sweet people helping you with the design.
Get rid of the door to the hallway. This is your private, luxurious space where you can retreat after a long day. When the girls are teenagers with friends running around, you will realize how nice it is to have your bedroom, bathroom, dressing room completely private. I loved that last design! Beautiful work. They were all amazing. xx
I love his presentations. His personality is so entertaining. Your tenacity with removing that linoleum flooring was inspiring.
Definately the two doors! The view through is amazing.
Really looking forward to seeing how you connect the spaces, so that they have cohesion, but still with defined function.
A whole bunch of great ideas! Phillip keep up with the dad jokes. You getting better.
The flow in the last video seemed perfect. It’s a private suite after all. Love it!
Nr 1 and 3 look great. And i agree with Anna about the flow and the doors. Good luck with it.
Have you thought about sliding pocket doors from the bedroom and to the dressing room, this means you could have the wider opening for each room entrance and would create more light flowing through from the bedroom
Flow between the 3 rooms makes a lot of sense.
Actually guffawed out loud when Philip cut the water line.
😂
Yes I agree keep both doors, it makes the flow much nicer and Phil throw your trash out the window and go outside when done and put on the flat bed trailer, I've been seeing this at other chateau remodeling, and it saves you from going up and down the stairs so much, the last two designs we're beautiful,
