William Basinski (Performance)
Americký skladateľ William Basinski je meno, ktoré netreba v kruhoch (nielen) experimentálnej a ambientnej hudby predstavovať. Basinski experimentuje s rôznymi médiami už viac ako 30 rokov. Jeho melancholické zvukové scenérie využívajú archaickú analógovú technológiu, najmä slučky magnetofónových pások, pohrávajú sa s konceptom času a efemérnosťou fyzického sveta. Jeho veľkolepý 4-diskový opus The Disintegration Loops vybral Pitchfork medzi 50 najlepších albumov roku 2004. Reedícia LP Temporary Residence z roku 2012 bola ocenená ako najlepšia reedícia roka.
Orchestrálne interpretácie skladby The Disintegration Loops od Maxima Mostona zazneli v The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Queen Elizabeth Hall, La Bâtie-Festival de Genève a inde. V SNG počas festivalu NEXT 2023 predstavil tekavé hlukové plochy zo svojho ostatného albumu On Time Out of Time. Poďte si s nami poležať na hutných zvukových vlnách. Povinná jazda pre fanúšikov Fennesza, Tima Heckera, Loscil, Sarah Davachi či Sunn O))).
Video vytvorila A4 ako súčasť projektu New Perspectives for Action v rámci medzinárodnej spolupráce Re-Imagine Europe, spolufinancovaného Európskou úniou a z verejných zdrojov podporeného Fondom na podporu umenia a Nadáciou mesta Bratislavy.
American composer William Basinski is a figure who needs little introduction (among others) in the experimental and ambient music circles. Basinski has experimented with various media for more than 30 years. His melancholy sonic sceneries rely on archaic analogue technology, especially magnetic tape loops, playing with the concept of time and the physical world’s ephemerality. In 2004, Pitchfork listed his 4-disc grand opus The Disintegration Loops among the year’s top albums. The 2012 re-release of his LP Temporary Residence was named best reissue of the year.
Orchestral interpretations of The Disintegration Loops by Maxim Moston have been performed to audiences at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Queen Elizabeth Hall, La Bâtie-Festival de Genève and elsewhere. At the Slovak National Gallery, during the festival NEXT 2023, Basinski channeled some of the volatile noise surfaces from his recent album On Time Out of Time.
