I started having a lot of hair loss went to endocrinologist ended up having very high DHEA levels he prescribed Estradiol 0.25% topical shampoo. My hair stopped falling out and my DHEA levels normalized without having to take pills.

My DHEA sulfate has been extremely high for the past nine years, and my doctor has never given me any advice on it or anything. I don’t know what to do. Your endocrinologist prescribed a shampoo, and your DHEA levels dropped back down?? Did you have any side effects from that shampoo or anything?

Thank you so much for this video. I tested at 613 for DHEA last month the third day of a late period, only the second irregular period I've ever had in my life. This was found when I asked for some basic fertility testing. ALL my other tests are perfectly normal for my age (38): testosterone, corisol, estradiol, FSH, LSH, A1C. Recently had an ultrasound and my gyno said nothing but a slightly enlarged ovary but didn't mention any cysts. Just one small fibroid. I have had anxiety for about two years and didn't know why. This shed a light on that, but none of my doctors have been helping with this or following up on it. I forced my doc to get me a CT scan, but she thought the bloating and body aches I have that has now started during my luteal phase was digestive and did a CT with barium, not IV contrast. She said it looked "fine" but I am concerned she only looked at my gut, not my adrenals like I asked. I got DHEA retested this month and it's down to 399, which is better but still out of range. My period was on time and perfectly normal, I ovulated on time (I take ovulation tests). I am scared and don't know what to do and none of my doctors seem to have a clue. None of the endocrinologists in my area are familiar with adrenal issues - they only treat diabetes and thyroid issues. I have maybe a few extra chin hairs since last month, but no overt hirsutism or excessive weight gain outside of the week-long massive bloating at the start of my luteal phase. I don't want this to get worse but none of my doctors are listening or helping.

Tiffany, I was in the same space as you mentioned when I was your age. For me, I could never get answers or proper treatment, doctors just seemed passive and I'd get a pat on the head or a Rx for an antidepressant, which I'd toss in the trash on my way out of the office. I was poor, devorced 3 times, single mom, working 2 jobs... My fibroids contenued to grow, ended up with a hysterectomy which went haywire, so for extra fun had to have 2 blood transfusions... I'm 63 now, sadly, not much has changed, still without proper medical insurance, or my hair! Thinning by the day the last few months. I wish I had made my health a priority way back then, made better choices... But not to worry, none of that will happen to you because I'm begging you, please, please, do whatever it takes to find the answers, go wherever, do whatever, I'm pleading with you, as if you were my own daughter. Lol. 😉 But heck, in the bigger picture, we're probably all related. 🤗 There's seems to be more help out there now, I'm searching as well. I want you, (stranger - relative), to be thriving when you're 63! 💪🏼and beyond! ✨️💞💫

Great video. But I would like to know what causes very low dhea. Mine is at 338 total. I suppose it's from chronic stress.

Can DHEA be high after starting HRT? My testosterone was checked prior to HRT, but not my DHEA. Did all that prior to finding my functional medicine doc who is now testing for all the things! Also, I do have CPTSD. I am also breastfeeding and have been the past three years😂 (2 kids)...3 total.

I don‘t know. I didn‘t take any Dhea as a supplement. This reason is excluded. How can I lower it?Does this level harm fertility significantly?

If a man has low testosterone because their body doesn’t make it anymore due to a past history of using anabolics, will the body produce increased DHEA because it is trying to get the testosterone back up? I just started on TRT and initial lab work came back with DHEA twice the normal high range.

I can’t say for sure, but here’s an interesting article that explains a bit more on DHEA-Test conversion.

Found a 7mm adrenal nodule on left adrenal gland in CT scan. I am trying to conceive my first child. Kindly help how should I optimize DHEA-S level and cure adrenal tumor of 7mm? Doctors are not helping trying to put on spironolactone which I don't want to try.

A prolactinoma is probably a common cause?

Definitely needs to be ruled out even if there is no discharge from nipples. But there are more common causes.

I’m a 40 year old male and my DHEA is 865 my free testosterone is 240pg/ml and is Estradiol 6.4 pg/ml and Cortisol is 2.2.
Could this be causing mental health issues and stress ? Could the high DEHA be a possible tumor or mass on my adrenal glands ? I’m going to see my doctor next week but I’m concerned.
I’m also type 1 diabetic with not well controlled sugar levels.

My question is this, I was pregnant 3 years ago. And had gestational diabetes. Gave birth, continued to have night sweats, hair loss etc. They never went away. I lost weight, good A1c. But was recently tested and I have elevated DHEA sulfate (278). What could be causing this? I have a female sibling that has PCOS. What should I be telling my doctor to look for? What could be causing this. I didn’t have these issues before pregnancy (hair loss, night sweats, hot flashes, etc). 36 year old female.
