Valve timing or cam code was the first thing I thought especially with an overdue oil change. Also, tip from up north when you can't use the hex snap on slim vise grips are great for grabbing the inside of a sb link
Thanks Greg! I have a set of Capri slim wrenches for when they have flat spots, but yeah pliers work in a pinch if they have hardened teeth like the good ones do. :)
I have a 2011 srx with a front clunk & clank & no one can find it...new struts, sway bar links, tie rods, lower control arms & lastly they said i need a rear drive shaft hmmm
Hi Jimmy, I have a 2011 SRX with a check engine light on, running bad all of a sudden. so my boyfriend checked the codes and misfire code came up. Put in new spark plugs and ran it again and this time the “likely a mass airflow sensor needed” code popped up plus the misfire code. Put in a new mass airflow sensor but the check engine lights still on. It’s driving much smoother but it’s still coding as misfire. There is also a slight ticking coming from the front. Any suggestions?
Hi again Jimmy! So sorry to bug you with this again but here goes, ok so after doing the spark plugs, and putting in a new mass airflow sensor the check engine light went off and the car was driving well. A week goes by and last night the dreaded check engine light resurfaces. Run the codes and it says PO300- misfire P0171- fuel trim system lean Most likely fix= replace fuel rail pressure sensor I guess I’m wondering, is that a difficult fix on a 2011 Cadillac srx? My boyfriend isn’t a mechanic but did the spark plugs n airflow sensor and is trying his best. Trying to decide if I should just bite the bullet and take it to a shop. Thanks again for your guidance and expertise 😊
You don't buy a Cadillac, To take it to hillbilly auto repair. If you cant afford, Dealer maintained. You buy a Korean model. And save money. Looks like you have done previous repairs for them, On that Cadillac for sure. Love the band clamp on exhaust pipe.
I appreciate your expertise! Way to go!
I appreciate that!

Good info! I have a 2011 SRX with 120K miles,,,I change oil every 3000 miles and use prevmium fuel ONLY....is that good!?
Very good! That gives the best odds of low problems!

If it’s AWD it might be transfer case related?
So far, has it been a reliable car?
Yep steering stabilizer bar bushings they’re notorious on these also if not that it is the drive shaft if it’s the AWD model
Quick question: I got a "Service Stabilink System" warning last week...is that a small or big problem to take care of?
It might mean a problem in the system itself or something it sees in another system. I’d check codes first.
Thanks for the Advice! Will check those codes tomorrow and let you know what I find out! :)

Might need to try moving coils and plugs and see if the misfire sets on a different cylinder. If not a compression test is next.
