I purchased 2 "authentic " filters on ebay and they came out to be fakes and flooded my kitchen. They were just like the ones you show in the video (without the authentication tag). I contacted the seller and he said that "it's a known problem with Samsung filters ". I purchased another one from someone else and it DID have the authentication tag and had no problem with water leaking.
Sorry to hear that you had issues! We hope that you were able to successfully fix your kitchen. Its sad that they make counterfeits that can damage a person's health and their house.
The filter I bought from online called Refrigerator Filter Stores, came just like the original filter from my new Refrigerator bought 7 months ago, with no dots on the lock handle both new and original, but the new one did came with Authentication tag and the blue square on the right spot, and tested authenticity
The first replacement I bought, it came in a Box, like the one on the left. But the 2nd one, it came in a clear plastic box like the one on the right. Both were Authentic though. Do u know why they have different Packaging?
I think Samsung recently changed the packaging for their single filters, but I am not 100% sure. I just bought a 4 pack from the Samsung website since they were having a sale and those came in a box too rather than the plastic. As long as you buy it from a reputable dealer and the magnetic authenticity tag shows green stripes when tested, it should be fine.
I recently came across the exact same problem. I bought one from home depot LG model and they advertise for you to shine a flash on it and it will reveal a hidden LG holographic logo the ebay ones i ordered for comparisons right away have a light discoloration and no hidden logo they also came in a cardboard box vs home depot plastic see through covers
I just bought two from Amazon and they are fake. I tried to install it and it just doesn't fit. I examined the original filter with the fake filter and the two tabs near the orings have less space between the tab and the base of the filter. Good thing Amazon has a good return policy. Thank you for your information it is very helpful.
Yes, fortunately, Amazon is good with returns. It sucks that the originals from Samsung, Lowe's or Home Depot are so expensive, but there are so many fakes out there that it's scary! We are glad that we were able to help!
My Samsung bespoke refrigerator came with what appears to be a “fake” or counterfeit filter, no authentication tag. I ordered some supposedly authentic Samsung filters from Walmart and they do not have authentication tags either. 🤷🏻♀️
If it was purchased from Walmart's website, it may be a third party seller selling counterfeit products. I usually just purchase filters from Lowes or from Samsung themselves. A few months ago, Samsung had a deal where you get 4 filters for $72. I believe that our fridge came with the filter already installed, so I guess as long as its directly from Samsung, it should be fine.
Thank you , your video helped me to determine that I bought fake on Amazon

Bought my filter from Amazon and it's fake, I'm returning it, I would have never known my filter was fake, thanks so much for making this video!

The tabs on top don’t line up the same way either. So when you turn it to lock it in it doesn’t stay locked in
