  • Dorrigo National Park And Crystal Shower Falls - Footage From My Day Off is a selection of footage from Crystal Shower Falls. Relax and enjoy....
Running a UA-cam channel is hectic?! There’s so much work to do and sometimes you just need to take a break and get out into nature and enjoy it. So last Friday, that is exactly what I did.
It has been raining relentlessly here on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales lately, which has made it hard to get out and film videos or take photos of nature.
One positive thing about loads of rain though is that it makes rivers and waterfalls run like crazy! That’s why I decided to go out to Dorrigo National Park because I knew the falls would be running really well.
Dorrigo National Park is part of Waterfall Way, a 185km stretch of road which is listed as the 3rd most beautiful tourist drive in Australia. It winds it’s way through lush rainforest and stunning scenery from the Pacific Hwy in the east, to Armidale in the west.
If you ever visit nsw, I highly recommend making a trip along Waterfall Way part of your itinerary.
The rainforest on the walk to Crystal Shower Falls is some of the most beautiful you will ever see. This is old-world rainforest guys. You could imagine dinosaurs thumping out of the scrub towards you.
There’s a little water crossing on the way and so much to photograph, you could spend hours just getting to falls.
You view Crystal Shower Falls from a suspension bridge that gives you a magical view over the falls and the surrounding forest. I spent a little time here shooting this footage. It started to rain again, so I thought it was time to head back.
On the way, thanks to a tip-off from a lovely young lady, I came across this Diamond Python enjoying the rain.
From here things got a little interesting. It started to bucket down?! So here am I, no rain cover on my backpack, and my Sony a6400 attached to my Joby GorillaPod and my Rode VideoMic Pro + on top of the a6400 and nothing but my cap to keep them dry.
I walked for a little bit holding my hat over the equipment but the rain soaked my hat before long so I had to stop and take the tarp out of my backpack to keep my equipment and myself dry. I also put the rain cover over my backpack.
I draped the tarp over me like a raincoat and walked the 40 minutes back to visitor centre. By the time I got there I was exhausted, I had a leech on my right shin, and I was soaked through. But that it what being out in nature is all about isn’t it? It’s not an adventure if you don’t get a little dirty.
