great work. as someone who is studying cybersecurity this not only hits points I'm learning about but opening up other ideas. Not only does this kind of content motivating for me as someone who wants to work against this type of ransomware, It also is deeply concerning as to what may be lying around the corner for the next big attack.
I'm so glad to be getting such feedback :') the kind of attacks we will have to deal with in the future is definitely, deeply concerning. I can only hope that our security evolves accordingly as well.
@@udayandutta3121 A big but very temporary scare was recently created with the use of AI in a fake video where joe biden is enlisting people to war against Russia. It was definitely extremely real considering it's only the beginning of what's to come..
I heard that some guy was making a book when he got the virus. He couldn’t pay in 7 days so he had to wait the 6 months. he actually got it back and finished the book 3 years later.
This is by far the best Wannacry documentary I've seen. Informational and straight to the point without unnecessary creepy clips added in which break immersion. I'm surprised this is your first documentary-style video! It doesn't seem like it. And I like the educational aspect! I'm only in highschool but I'm aspiring to be involved in computer science so I know a fair amount about at least how it works, so it wasn't confusing for me and I actually doubt it would be confusing for most people. It's a nice mix of understandable enough that anyone can get it, and advanced enough that people with knowledge on the subject are learning something from it.
Cracking production quality, technical enough for most people without going too deep. I am keen to see what you come up with next. Two thumbs up mate. 👍👍
This kind of content is exactly what I look for; concise and straight to the point, no gimmicks. Really good research you’ve done man, keep up the good work!
i think the craziest part is someone or some group is still out there walking around and nobody but them know that they took down the entire internet.. That is a true villan arc
Excellently made documentary! Sadly it didn't surprise me that hospitals ended up being the most heavily damaged by Wannacry. I used to deliver and setup medical devices like ultrasounds, retinal scanners and such, and almost all of them were running bespoke software in kiosk mode on top of a Windows XP (and later Win7) build that had automatic updates disabled, since obviously having one of these machines decide to reboot itself in the middle of a procedure could be quite unfortunate. There's still a lot of these machines out there and I imagine they still haven't received any updates, since the software they run often depends on a specific build of Windows to work properly, so the threat of a second round is very much a real one.
Oh gosh medical technology is such a infoseq hazard. In my lab we have a machine that runs on some old version of iOS that IT begrudgingly allows as long as it is never connected to any network ever. Analyzers and other machines can run anywhere from $10k to $500k in the lab, so if the OS is outdated you just deal with it
yours had win7? that was futuristic tech to our hospitals... yes, the security is shocking an i think the only thing preventing it happening more often is hackers having SOME shred of empathy for dying people and also, its not like the nhs has many pennies to spare lol

As someone without a technical background, I must say this was enlightening, and the pace of your audio was just perfect for better understanding especially for non tech savvy folks like myself. All in all, thank you for creating this masterpiece of a documentary. Bravo!
Currently doing an assignment for my cyber security degree and the topic is to pick a company that has been breached and compromised, so I have to act as a pen tester and find out the vulnerability, why the company has been breached, fix it and how to avoid it in the future. This video gave me a brilliant idea, thank you for this short documentary

cool doc, I remember I worked at an airline company as security supervisor when this happened and we had 11 hours shift that night, it was awful, the snapshot were infected as well and when they restored previous version they would keep spreading the worm around the network

This popped up on my recommended and I wanted to learn more about this cyberattack. Really good documentary. Will check out more of your work for sure.
Just a bit of criticism on presentation that has likely already been echoed to death: 1) The length of the silent transitions between segments is a bit much - to the point where at least once I thought playback had stopped; fellow documentary UA-cam channel "Down the Rabbit Hole" tends to mitigate such intervals with music played at an increased volume - which happens to let the viewer know that playback of the video has not stopped (at least in my case as here the audio was apparently too low to otherwise hear the music during the transitions, particularly when compared to the volume of the narrator's voice). 2) A much more minor one - the special effects seem to sometimes be emphasised over presentability; this is most noticeable towards the start of the video with a timeline that doesn't show in its entirety at once but rather switches positions around the screen as it also switches focus between individual parts of the timeline. Hope this is suitably constructive. Many thanks for making this video - the informative nature of it is much appreciated!

Just a bit of criticism on presentation that has likely already been echoed to death:
1) The length of the silent transitions between segments is a bit much - to the point where at least once I thought playback had stopped; fellow documentary UA-cam channel "Down the Rabbit Hole" tends to mitigate such intervals with music played at an increased volume - which happens to let the viewer know that playback of the video has not stopped (at least in my case as here the audio was apparently too low to otherwise hear the music during the transitions, particularly when compared to the volume of the narrator's voice).
2) A much more minor one - the special effects seem to sometimes be emphasised over presentability; this is most noticeable towards the start of the video with a timeline that doesn't show in its entirety at once but rather switches positions around the screen as it also switches focus between individual parts of the timeline.
