- Canadian content creator Christopher Hughes spoke to Newsday reporter Narissa Fraser after being released on $100,000 bail for a charge of sedition relating to videos made with local gang members.
Hughes, who goes by the name Chris Must List, spoke about his experience in jail, wanting to return home to his family and plans to continue vlogging. He was arrested at a residence in Flagstaff, St James last week and was released on June 3. Hughes returns to court on June 6.

I saw in one of the videos that the gang members were flexing the guns they had. The guns are obviously illegal, so you can't be recording risks stuff like that to put on social media and expect the police not to intervene. I wouldn't be surprised if they just wanted info on the gangs.

I love T&T and have visited many time in the past but stayed away for almost twenty years but I missed it so badly that I started watching travel UA-camrs in T&T to gauge wether it was safe enough to start revisiting again. At first I was very hopeful because I was following people like Trini Surfer, Shines, African Tigress etc, however most of them avoided the sore points of T&T despite giving mild warnings! It was not until I started watching Ian’s Crime Watch and saw Coco Boy’s Laventille escapade that I soon saw that things had indeed gotten far worse over the decades. Chris’s work was the final straw, it showed me that even those communities that my parents used to warn me about have been crying out for help forever and much of the crime that has been generated is an outcome from this neglect! People are just trying to survive! Personally, I now have no intentions of visiting anytime soon because T&T is out of control and the powers that be are incapable of solving the problem! In fact in my opinion Chris’s videos revealed that and that is why they want to make an example of him for showing what many born Trinidadian UA-camrs dare not! Thanks Chris!👍🏾👏🏾🙏🏾. 🏴🇸🇪🇹🇹

Let’s be honest. I am a first generation Trinidadian American. This man is being punished for bringing light to a situation that has been plaguing Trinidad long before he got there. I’m Canadian and recently visited Trinidad to see my family for the first time in my life. Yes every country is not perfect but I will say that the Trinidadian government is very corrupt and do not care about their citizens especially the poor people. They have all this energy for a tourist exposing their failures but none towards fixing the real issues going on. It’s no coincidence Trinidad has one of the highest rates of crime, murder and violence against women in the Caribbean. I will pray for Chris’s safe return and for the people of Trinidad. 🇹🇹
