This video inspired me to start my dreads again. I started with a microfiber towel and already see the separation and can't wait to see how they come out.
I started with a sponge, moved onto towel and now i have locs that hang halfway across my forhead, i stopped using the towel and just using my fingers to occasionally twist the loose roots because my dreads are locking from the tips down to root, i dont wanna use products or anything, what should i do to prevent loose roots
just a tip and no offense but it will work better if you use sponge first then towel and I know this is probably made for people who dont have a sponge but great video Gunther
The best method is to use a regular brush or even ya fingers in a klaw shape and that’s because towel and sponge strips moisture these item literally soak up water now when using brush or finger the brush is faster day 1 result but your fingers over time like waving will give u better results as your hair grows longer or u can start off using a brush and when u hair gets longer switch to using ur finger key note use this method with wet wet hair or showering especially with longer hair so u can shape in the direction u want ya hair to flow and grow
guys word of advice from someone who tried the coil method, towel method, and sponge method: if you want dreads, USE THE SPONGE METHOD IT WORKS THE FASTEST AND LOOKS THE BEST
does this method work for someone whos grown their hair out a good bit before starting locks? I grew my fro out quite a bit before deciding to start my lock journey, roughly 3 to 4 inches
how do i get my loose hair into my dreads? im thinking of gettinh them twisted by a pro to hide my loose hair but i dont like my scalp showing. and how do i retwist them properly, by twists become undone and my loose hait just comes back
when starting my locs with a fro should i pick my hair out or curl it and then towel? cuz i'm mixed and my hairs curly (3c) so i feel like if i towel rub while my hair is curly instead of picking it out my hair will loc better
orlander robinson to be honest I don’t think the term semi freeform exists Sure you start out with a shape, but freeforming is the state of not manipulating your hair so how are you freeforming half way? Just a thought.
@@viscosity7893 alright here's the thing semi freeforming is when you use a sponge a brush a towel or whatever and apply product to your hair for your hair to lock now actually freeforming is when you don't do nothing to your hair you don't use a brush a towel or a sponge and no product and you let your hair do it's thing for it to lock
Hey Gunther. I was wondering. Im a white dude with the waviest hair type you can get I don’t remember the technical term. But I was wondering if Bantu knots was a good idea to get curls. I want tight curls and I’ve had my hair permed before. Also I was wondering if you knew if getting a perm and then Bantu knotting my hair would make my hair tight curls? Also other people Im open to suggestions to get tighter curls. Anything is appreciated.😁
Daquan Nicholson bro I’ve been sponging for a week and getting a lot of dandruff, but cant wash my hair, I don’t want my dreads to get mould in them what should I do?
Wow thx i knew u could use a towel but i didnt know how to PROPERLY use it to get dreads. But can u wash ur hair while u do this or do u have to not wash ur hair while ur getting dreads using this method
I have african hair and have hair that goes down to my mouth when I pull it and I've done freeform with towel and sponge for two days and I already got dreads

@@trevoryoung7184 u can wash it but not very often about once or twice a month so like do it every 2 weeks

Hey Gunther can you make a video about comb twisting with gel?? It’d be clutch🙏🏽🙏🏽 God Bless
I got my dreads on accident I was rocking the two strand for way too long and they locked so from there I just kept gettin them retwisted
The Non-Believer yeah this girl I used to mess with re did them everytime they got little messy so it would look fresh again

Really slept on this till I tried it 😩😩✋🏼 results are definitely better if your hair ranges from 2c to 3c
i have a 2b hair type and it still works. great tutorial tho bro
This is actually better for when your locs get to long for the sponge
guys word of advice from someone who tried the coil method, towel method, and sponge method: if you want dreads, USE THE SPONGE METHOD IT WORKS THE FASTEST AND LOOKS THE BEST
It’s exactly what I use
I use towel and sponge
Really depends on your hair type. For people with looser straighter hair towel works better.
How tf do you wash? I’ve been doing it for a week and haven’t been washing and my hair is getting dandruff and itchy af??
DH Essay its growing
I literally did the same thing I just had my dreads for two weeks and wash them out this morning ggs
What do I do if my hair is longer than 5 inches
Also a tennis Racket works, I've been using it for 3 years now and it's really payin off.

Gunther, do you Wet the Towel, or Leave It Dry?
Can u use wax, and is that a dry towel?
When I use a towel it don’t turn out like this or am I suppose to do it for a long time
is this good for Type 4c hair?
I’m gonna do this on my friends hair
You should've used a microfiber towel to not get the white stuff your welcome

Kinda, you have to go very hard and cant have very long hair, you have to have about an inch of hair

Do you have to do anything when you go to sleep or naa
LBM TV wear a durag I think

Don't wash your hair because Gunther said he waited 2 months for him to wash. Realistically you want 3 weeks or more
Don’t wash your hair for a month if u have African hair and use locking gel
Bro is it a wet or dry towel and can I possibly finish it in one day?
I've been using a sponge for a year now I have use the tower before tho
