Lake Kariba is actually the world's largest artificial lake and reservoir by volume. It lies 1,300 kilometres (810 mi) upstream from the mouth of the Zambezi river on the Indian Ocean, along the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. Lake Kariba was filled between 1958 and 1963 following the completion of the Kariba Dam at its northeastern end, flooding the Kariba Gorge on the Zambezi River. It’s NOT 360km in length but it’s actually 223 km (139 mi) maximum length! It’s also 40 km (25 mi) maximum width and 29m (95ft) average depth!
The collection of water starts a deka but house boats mostly start at mlibizi. In binga she would have grown exponentially. I had the pleasure to sail across the lake from mlibizi I promise you it's a bucket list trip.
