    Great practical advice. When I saw the title, I was concerned about over-hype. But 4 years? 3-6 months of expenses? Man, you're giving some legit truth.
    Keep giving us good advice -- photography and business.

    Wonderful video! I quit my day job and never looked back. Your first point was spot on for sure 👌 Once I saw my business flourishing, I had no reason to work at a grocery store ever again lol

    I have been doing photography and videography consistent for over 5 years, have a UA-cam channel with almost 400 videos up.
    My problem is not my ability, but convencing people to let me shoot them. When you have no reputation, people will rather pay 5k than 1k because someone has a reputation.
    This is a big hurdle, even people you know don't want to engage you even for free because they have no faith in you. Even when you show them your photos.
    How do you get passed this?

    Made the jump to full time about a month ago! It’s a little scary, but exciting at the same time!

      CONGRATS!!! It's a really big jump and just as you said it can be scary but honestly as long as you're doing the hard work it gets better.

    I feel like your talking right to me 😂 Iv been getting to busy with photography Iv been wondering if it’s time to quit my day job. It’s just been becoming a hassle and feeling like I don’t have time to giving my all on my photography.

    • @jbivphotography
      @jbivphotography  2 роки тому +1

      That really is the main turning point for most people. When I quit my day job the thought was things are getting to a point where I can't keep up with both but I believed that I was doing well enough with photography that I knew I could turn it into a full time thing.

    Great vid bro! I do have a question. For the people that are working a retail job that requires weekends. How can they still do step 1 as you mention?

    • @jbivphotography
      @jbivphotography  2 роки тому +3

      That's probably the hardest part especially when it comes to weddings. What I would say is try to fill the weekends you can with weddings (I understand working a retail job that doesn't give you weekends. I used to work at Apple for 5 years) but you can always do portraits and engagements during the week. A great way to fill up your portfolio and also get some practice in as well.

    Hey Jhon do you recommend and lead generating companies?
    I have everything else but now I’m finding it challenging to figure which avenue to go down for ads or spending money on a lead company.
    Any suggestions?

    Any advice on getting on as a 2nd?

    • @jbivphotography
      @jbivphotography  2 роки тому +3

      It's one of the hardest things. I need to make a video about it but usually photographers are looking for a lot when it comes to being a second not someone who's brand new. Having a good website and good portfolio and being attentive is really the main part of being a second.
