Something that has been in my mind for a while is how the Polyend Play could handle something outside of a 12 equal temperament situation. One synth that has been on my radar for a bit now is the Moog Subharmonicon which is a bit far out of my reach, so doing some tests to see how the Polyend Play could handle sub harmonics.

Great video. I’m going to dust off my Moog! How long are the samples your making on your Moogs? Would be interesting to have you explain that process. Also as an owner of the Subharmonicon I have to say that what you made sounded good and with the Polyend it is possible to get far more complex than the Sub from a layering and composition level. That said, the sub is very raw and pops out really cool random sounds that make it sound so unique. And it has all the messy fun patching. The trick is knowing where to stop. But I feel the way you have done it will end up with a usable track a whole lot quicker.

I feel like people will keep finding new ways to compose on the "magic tetris machine" for years. Well done sir!

Ok. It needs to play tetris now

That was a cool idea! I will put these samples on my Tracker Mini and see if I can make something with it. I loved the really fast one of your demos. Overall, I thought the demos sounded fun but could use even more variation, like maybe a second oscillator or volume differences between subharmonics or so. But they were definitely already fun and maybe that is just my subjective taste speaking.

Cheers @jantuitman, I feel I am still scratching the surface of the Play atm. I feel I need to try more different things with this machine.

Hi! have you tried sequencing via midi vcv rack? If so, would you make a video about it? I have personally tried many times, but I have the impression that midi usb in polyend play does not work. 😢

I found your idea very interesting and wondered if I could reproduce something similar (with a Play and a Crave) and am now scratching my head over how you got the subharmonics out of the Moog. I don't think (just from looking at the front panel) that the Grandmother will make genuine subharmonics so I wonder if you sampled the output then messed about in software, or something else? Any chance of a smidge more detail to put me out of my misery?! Thanks

I was a bit obsessed and tuned my Grandmother to hit all the hertz tones. spent a bit of time with a tuner before recording. You should be able to do it with your crave and any waveform, its just the tuning. The wiki has good information about this en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Undertone_series#:~:text=Subharmonic%20frequencies%20are%20frequencies%20below,Hz%20(%201%E2%81%844).

@@Aisjam Wow, that's committed. I'll have a fiddle with the frequency knob and maybe try out the software idea too (though don't imagine it will sound as good). Thanks for getting back
