Ghostbusters Afterlife looks heavily use the classic Ectomobile with some upgrades presumably added by Egon Spengler . Yeah I’m gonna need the whole set immediately. I actually prefer the fright features line over the plasma series. They remind me more of toys I would’ve had in the late 80s/early 90s. I can’t wait for these.

Dang, I need to make some Target trips this weekend to try and find these figs and this ecto!
My Target had 3 of these yesterday. Passed on it because I have the Plasma series Ecto and two of the reissue on order. Looks like I'm going back to Target to get this for my Granddaughter as I think it'll work well with her vintage She Ra figures I got her. Nice review Brutha.

You can pop the gunner seat off, and you can put all 4 ghostbusters in the ecto 1 if you do so
I just got my rereleased ecto 1 today and I love it, I broke my original one when I was 2 or 3 so this is awesome. May pick this one up too though.
I found the whole line in Target today! All the figures and the messy little Stay Puft guys in one store, and the Ecto-1 at a different store.

I want to buy a 2cnd set of Peter, Ray and Windston and paint their hair grey to make them old like in the movie lol! that is if i ever see them in Canada. Great video as always. Too bad this Ecto is not as wide and not as tall than the original Kenner Ecto, but still, looks beautiful and it has room for lots of improvements. THank you for doing this video! Can't wait to do some stop motion with this set.
Yeah the margins for the size difference are not that significant. Can easily fit vintage Kenner and the new Fight Features toys.

I just got mine today pretty happy with it the stickers were pretty harrowing

Are the wheels the same size for both ecto 1? As i’m looking at purchasing the afterlife playset just to use its wheels on the reissue kenner ecto 1
Next time you need to apply stickers, use an exact blade or tweezers to apply them. Makes it MUCH easier and more precise than using clunky fingers that get in the way. ; )

Plus the stickers on the tires are ridiculous! They could have sculpted that in the tires.

I was today years old when I learned you could put the roof seat in the back of the Kenner Ecto-1. My mind is beyond blown.
You know I just bought this car and I didn’t think I would like it but once I put it together it’s actually a pretty nice looking toy.

Does the new fright features fit inside or on the Gunnar seat of the plasma ecto 1?
No the plasma Ecto is too small, Mask Figures barely fit inside which are 2 1/2 inches tall.

Nice review Jay! Remember last night when I said it would take a month before I saw these in my Target stores, well I was wrong! ha ha The first Target store I went to had 2 of these Ecto-1's, and I bought them. I found all the figures at the second Target I went to, so I bought those. :) I think upon watching this review, I like the original Ecto-1 better. While this one has cool new features, I don't like the fact that the front door doesn't open on the driver side, and you can't sit two characters in the front, with another in the gunner seat. The gunner seat goes all the way to the front. I think I am going to return these 2 Ecto-1's that I bought tomorrow. ha ha I have pre-ordered the original new one, will be receiving that next week.
My target has 2 of each figure in the back, but they won’t get them out of the back for me for some reason. Most of the employees at my target are lazy and rude. I guess I’ll just have to wait for them to hit the floor.
@@tayvenponder Wow, that stinks. Sorry, I hope they have them out there today for you. When I went to my 2nd Target to find the figures, they had them in the back, and the beautiful young lady associate went back and brought the whole box out for me. I bought one set, and put the second set on the pegs for her. ha ha She was re-constructing the whole isle.
allmusicfan88 I got them! My target had already sold all of them by the time I got there so I went to two other targets and found all of them except for slimer. I wouldn’t recommend getting the mini puft surprises, the mini puft figures are cool but it’s not really slime, the goop is the literal consistency of melted marshmallow. It made a mess and I ended up having to throw away all the goop.

Fan mod community -- is there any chance we might see a custom 3d print version of a two sided adapter plug to fit the 'classic' figures onto the gunner seat peg and/or a two sided adapter plug to fit the old gunner seat on top of the new ecto-1 so that it would accommodate all 4 figs?

Can the figures that are supposed to go with this Ecto 1 sit properly in the Playmobil Ecto 1?
I very much doubt it. I got my Son the set for his birthday & they don't fit in this Ecto-1. Absolutely no idea how the guy in this video got Winston in the seat as they are definitely too big & their leg span is too wide. The Playmobil car's a lot smaller.

Just finished putting the car together I’m disappointed in the lack of detail on the interior and yes those whitewall stickers for the tires are an absolute nightmare lol
I didnt mind the interior so much, as the kenner one was pretty sparse as well, but yeah, those white wall tire stickers were the worst!! lol
The whitewall tires getting stickers is almost a troll-job. Who in the hell approved that?
yeah that half sticker nonsense for the back tires is ridiculous.
Only two seats is not a great idea, I would prefer space for the four GB in the ecto, such a pity ... I think I will remove the gun-seat, hoping to have enough space for the guys!

Great question, I think the new one has more color and detail, but the OG kenner one evokes the feel of the RGB Ecto and has WAYYYYYY more nostalgia points. So for me the OG Kenner Ecto-1 will be hard to beat, but for kids today? I think its a really great Ecto-1
I got one from Target. my 35 year old Ecto-1 is falling apart. and I seriously don't want to shell out $100 to make her more durable. (3d printed doors, repainting to match, and new decals)
I painted all the proper parts with silver. If you dont use the gunner Seat there Will be room for all four figures
If you angle the blaster and take out the plasma the gun will stay on the gunners seat
Ugh, sticker applications? How annoying. But it's still pretty sweet. I think I'd prefer to get this than the re-release of the classics that I have on preorder. ❤👻🚫

They do not fit, about 2 inches too big for the plasma series Ecto
@@GeekDadLife that would would have been the sweet. I guess the sizing is about 3.75 then if it's 2 inches two high. I just ordered the first 4 of the fright figures, I'm planning to re cast the proton packs, epoxy glue the right ends, cut the wire to then re cast again and then use some five below wires and give them to the original kenner.

Actually sir you actually Can fit all the figures in the car if you pack them in tight enough you can also fit the proton packs in there too !!! I purchased three of these toy car Ecto ones myself !!!
Hey Jay, did you notice that if you flip the RTV over it has a peg hole and you can mount the projectile launcher? It makes for a small mobile boson blaster that's really fun! Haven't seen anyone mention that before and discovered it on accident myself. I like the toy so far, as does my daughter, but the driver's door not being able to open seems like a cruel miss. The gunner seat has horrible trouble staying on, though, and really needs a better attachment bracket or something. Fun otherwise and a great way to play until the Kenner Retro arrives...

It doesn't make sense to me; they can make proper vehicles for Ghostbusters & other toy lines but for some reason

All they gotta do is make the three inch quarter line make proper vehicles; like this one; & then boom put it out there into the market; it's not that hard. Hasbro doesnt have to go full out on vehicles just start off plain & standard like the land speeder or the x wing. Maybe the millennium falcon; just get the Kenner designs & re package them & sell it again. It's not difficult to do.

Its amazing how a 30 plus year old ecto-1 is vastly superior to a brand new one. Im really disappointed in this one just watching the video. Thats sad
I don't think it's that bad Al, its significantly better than what Mattel offered in 2016, like lightyears better.
@@GeekDadLife im just bias towards the real ghostbusters line i guess. The old ones are so much better but the new figure line looks great. Has the same linage and vibe to it. This ecto just is meh to me.

I want to see the new movie but the first movie (from 84) Suck's ball. GB2 is AWESOME!!! The 2016 movie was so so.
Again: there was room enough to sit all four ghostbusters in the old Ecto-1, I don't know why everybody keeps saying that there wasn't. I did it as a kid laying with them, I do it now in my RGB review: all four figures can sit inside the car and they're not crammed.

Meh . . . still waiting for the proper Has-Blo Ecto-1 to go with my Has-Blo Plasma Series Ghostbuster Figures. And they better deliver, because there's no excuse when they are making grandiose vehicles for Stinkin' Star Wars and Godd@mn G.I. Joe.

Agreed. The Playmobil Ecto-1 (and Ecto-1A) blows away all the competition. Lights, sounds, seating for all 4 'Busters, AND storage space for their packs and trap.

Compared to the old ecto-1 car this one feels cheap. I'm looking for small kid played with this he'd break it really easy. I don't think you could take as much as abuses the original could

This Ecto-1 looks cheap...and is cheap. AMC Theaters has an Ecto-1 popcorn box car that is far better. It has working lights, and is only $35 dollars.

Building this thing is impossible. This is not an easy build. Also the instructions are awful.
