  • Over the past month Yorktown Fire Department has worked in conjunction with Hayden Goldsworthy owner of Hayden Goldsworthy - Wedding Films. He was an absolute pleasure to work with and is locally owned and operated. PLEASE share this to your personal page and ask everyone on your friends list to do the same. We want it to reach many.
We have produced a film that is a take on the Lip Sync Challenge. For those of you that do not know this is a challenge going around between many different fire departments and police departments. We then used this format to hopefully bring awareness to a very real, emotional, and shocking truth going on in public service right now.
The only thing we ask is to please help us make this message span as far as possible. If it helps one person, regardless of who or where then it was well worth all the efforts put in by everyone. There is a Public Service Announcement and Thank You page at the end so please take a few minutes and watch all the way through.
A special thank you also needs to be given to Delaware County Emergency Medical Services, Yorktown Police Department, Salem Township/Daleville Emergency Services, Richland Township Fire Department, Farmland Volunteer Fire Department, Blountsville - Stoney Creek Township Volunteer Fire Department,
Thank you as always for your time and consideration,
Yorktown Fire Department Membership and their Families

As a Captain of a local volunteer fire station, I found this very profound and would recommend every firefighter watch. Mental Health is very important for 1st responders. I know this has been up for a year and I may be late to the game but Thanks for doing this!

This hits home on so many levels. I have been there, I have been that brother who was hurting so bad I wanted to take my life- not just from a bad call but also from other stuff. My fellow brothers and sisters showed me otherwise. Nearly 3.5 years later, I am still here, kicking on. Spreading my story, showing others it is ok to speak up. It is OK to talk, it is ok to say, "hey Im not ok"

2:25 Man can I relate to this!! I retired from FD in 2012 with 23 years in the service. Dec. 5 1998 is a day I will NEVER forget. My best friend's daughter.... my daughter's best friend..... died in my arms at the age of 6. Nothing I could do. I was dealing with it ok until my kid came to me, got in my lap, and said to me this: Daddy, I though you became a firefighter to save and help people. I told her that I did. She asked my why I stopped loving the other girl. I told her that I didn't stop loving her. She asked me then why did I let her die?. I lost it. I told her that GOD needed an angel to watch over her. I went from 205 lbs to 135 lbs. Could not sleep due to seeing that girl in that car all over again. Couldn't eat. Couldn't talk to anyone about it. I was in that state for over 2 months. Had to take medical leave from work. My daughter and then wife both begged me to get some type of grief counseling. I ended up at my local church ( I had a keep to the doors because I was the sound technician there) one evening. Before becoming a fireman, I felt this calling. I would see a fire truck and it would drive me nuts. I finally knew it was my calling from GOD. I told HIM that I would obey, but I am not strong enough to do that king of work. " I GOT YOU" was the feeling. For 5 years I was able to cope with things. This accident hit and I was in a complete out of control spiral. That evening, I got on my face..... I let it out. I was mad, hurt, hurting....... all the way to the depths of my soul. I told GOD that HE told me that HE had me. Why did you leave me???? I got it all out of my system. That night, i fell asleep at the alter of my church. Slept like I have never slept before. Woke up hungry the next morning. My demon was caged again. After my Psych Eval... I was cleared to return to work. First responder PTSD is no joke folks. Take the ending of this video seriously. I STILL live with this demon, and it likes to rear its ugly head from time to time. Almost 24 years later, and I will just all of a sudden start crying uncontrollably over the death of this little girl. People don't realize what First Responders actually go through. It takes a heartless individual to to that job..... heartless but willing to love your fellow man enough to give up your life for them. GET HELP IF YOU NEED IT!!

I had no idea this issue was so widespread. I'm really glad you took this opportunity to create a video that addresses this problem. We have such an essential group of personnel in our first responders, etc. that it's imperative each community do all it can to care for each man or woman and intervene when needed.

Proud of all of the you and the rest of the first responders! I'm also proud that this video was done within my hometown. It's great to see a couple of familiar names as most of the ones I grew up with have retired. God Bless each and every one of you!

As a critical care nurse, I can tell you, feeling other's pain can be overwhelming at some point. Whatever you do, don't leave the first responders alone to deal with their own and everybody else's pain! We all need each other. No man is an island

WOW, this was POWERFUL, lost my ONLY daughter to drugs, the day she told me she had ben on Heroin was the same day she died. Our friend, a policeman told me he went to an accident and a little girl was dead with pink nail polish on her fingers and he freaked when he saw his daughter with pink nail polish. I am married to a USMC Vietnam Vet, what they ALL saw, the same horrors Cops, fire department, vets is ALL: PTSD, they all need help. GOD bless them. HELP THEM
