I spooled it with 8 LB test mono for lighter lures, gave it some practice casts and found that it did cast well ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e , except that the anti-backlash setting had to be turned up almost all of the way to keep the "overcasts' ' down. I disassembled it, and found that if I potted some "shim washers" behind that anti-backlash magnet assembly, it got the magnets closer to the spool without rubbing, and I could get better control with about a 6 to 7 out out 10-Max setting. I also noticed that the handle shaft had some internal end play, maybe only 2 or 3 thousands of an inch, but it's still noticeable. If the anti-backlash and shaft tolerances were "tightened up" this would be a fantastic value. I've only used it for 4 days of fishing in a month's time, but I plan on keeping it.

i started out with florocarbon on my baitcaster and it was the easiest out of all the lines. braid was the hardest one to use when it came to using a baitcaster and mono was ok. thats how i started out with a baitcaster

@@brandonalan1513 I expected so much worse. I have fished with it a couple times since getting it & have backlashed a couple times since but not to bad. Hasn't been as difficult as people said. I expected the worst 😂

It's really nice of you to share your family on the channel, very cool to see stuff like this. Not something everyone is comfortable with sharing and I think this was a great video and I learned a lot about baitcasters lol. I have never fished for bass and I've never used a bait casting reel. I think it is awesome that your wife was such a good sport and had fun. I'd be interested in learning how to untangle the rat's nest. I just bought my first fishing kayak and may have to learn how to fish for bass.

I'm lare to this video. I'm late learning a baitcaster also 😂. I couldn't help buying a KVD baitcaster at 50% off 😅. This video help quite a bit. Taking out some line and putting tape on the spool until you get used to it helps also . It prevents backlash while learning.
Your doing great man keep doing ya thing im getting close to done watching all your videos gave me some good ideas for new bait to try out not buying something completely blind and thats always good to see it catching fish before you decide to buy it

Your wife is a natural. One backlash if you could call it that, two topwater blowups and a Bass on a Texas rig. Save the video because when the baby is born you can show him or her the first time they went fishing.
