    That’s amazing bro
Let us know when it’s available for download ❤

What exactly for download? The 3D designs will go on thingyverse or something to that tune. I believe the base holder is there already. The issue is that I keep changing things every second day because I find a better solution etc I am now experimenting with a different modbus arduino library since the modern ArduinoRS485 does not wanna compile on the avr platform... So there is that.

What i miss is done way to trigger on for instance button presses. AFAIK modbus only does polling.
I would prefer a multi master network.
Do you have any plans to work around it?

For an instant response you probably would need to look at Modbus TCP/IP since that supports multiple masters. But that would increase the complexity of your entire network since now you need switches etc etc Unless you can make it all wireless. Use the ESP32 for cheap end points. I might explore that path at some point but last time I checked I could not get the ESPs to be stable and not crash over a longer (2 weeks+) period of time. For now I will explore the old school Modbus first and will see what happens.

@@gebsystems I do like the idea of Modbus for sensors, and I might try to use. Using ethernet cabling allows easy change of protocols later anyway.

I discovered recently that you can buy Modbus enabled sensors... For instance the SHT20 temp and humidity sensor that has the RS485 A&B + power. So I would not need an Arduino at certain end points. This makes the home automation SO much easier. And sure, WIRE IS KING so Ethernet wins all day long for a reliable setup. I want to build a Modbus powered do-nothing machine as that seems to be rather cool just to watch it repeat a task. Same as watching a 3D printer print I guess.

Thanks! I am just having fun with this. Probably gonna go over the top and design something that has no real world use but is cool to look at.
