If I understand the wiki correctly and this mod hasn't changed it, you should not get tapebots or farmbots.
The 11 broccoli give you a value of 33, the 9 blueberries give you 18 and the 10 beets give you 10.
That gives you a total of 61. This is below 80, so you don't get the higher level bots.
However, if you use 20 of those spots of broccoli, that puts you to 60, and if the remaining 10 spots are filled with banana, blueberry, orange, broccoli, or pineapple you will trigger a raid with tapebots. This includes if all 30 spots are broccoli.
If you expand your farm out to 5 rows of 10, and plant all high value crops, e.g. 50 broccoli, then you will get a farmbot from the 3rd night.
If you go to 10 rows, then you get farmbots every night.
If you keep the number of high value crops below 20, you wont get a farmbot.
Unless he is planting over 19 broccoli, farmbot not important. Tapebot is. As you hinted at, there is 2 requirements for raids above tier 6. That being crop value AND number of high-value crops. Tape bots come into play way sooner than farmbots do.
But you do make an interesting point that in order for him to even get a high enough crop value, it would require lots of high value crops since he isn't using alot of soil plots, making the secondary requirement. . . not as pressing a concern.
Even if he does 10 high level crops, and 20 "2 value" crops, that would only give him a crop value of 70, tape bots need 80. So the minimum would be 20 broccoli and 10 "2 value" crops. And that's JUST to get tapebots. Not even farm bots. Even if he did max 30 broccoli, that would only get him 90 crop value. 150 is the value for farmbots.
He literally does NOT have the soil plots to even get farmbot raid.
Farmbots not important, tapebot is.

ScrapMan could make the ScrapBlimp have a more blimp like look with a bigger balloon on top even if its just for aesthetics and maybe even be a full on mobile Airbase with a landing thing in the front with some concrete and a few saws so he can land on any island and not worry about bots but that's just an idea 🤷♂ (it could also have a pixel art of the ScrapMan logo but I don't play scrap mechanic so I don't know haw hard that is to make)

2. Use beacon for Base Island

If you don't want to spend the materials for a beacon, I'd suggest going straight up from the home Island and building a landmark at the highest Island you find there. That way you can find your way home by going as high up as possible, looking for that landmark and then going straight down from there.

Try using the drone propellers for thrust on the hot air balloon

Drone propellers, and use gyros to rotate them - NOT an engine. Gyros are free energy. I have several Fant gyro based drones on the workshop. If you stack 2 1x1 gyros and put a prop on it you can even have adjustable speed with a button for boosting, or even actual drone controls by speeding up/slowing down certain props to rotate and all.

@@MRcheese14u You can make them extremely stable and controllable, I've played with this concept a ton in the normal fant pack. Just gotta play with weight, power, and balance a bit. If UA-cam would allow links in comments I'd give you a good example lol.
I think you should expand on your airship... unreasonably! Go full nomad style with flying base!

Farmbot not important. Tapebot is. Tapebot comes b4 farmbot.
With 5 Broccoli, you only need a crop value of 80 (and the 5 broccoli already makes up 15 of that).
Incase you forgot the crop values:
- 1: carrot, red beet, tomato
- 1.5: potato, cotton
- 2: orange, blueberry, banana
- 3: Broccoli, pineapple
*- YOU CURRENTLY DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH SOIL PLOTS TO SUMMON A FARMBOT. -*
Farmbots require tier 9 raid. Tier 9 require crop value of 150. Even if you maxed out on broccoli, that would STILL only be 90. . . which is tapebot territory, not farmbot.
Tapebot comes in tier 7 raid, you cannot get level 7 without high value crops (the ones worth 3). Regardless of what your crop value is, it will cap at a tier 6 raid without broccoli or pineapple. Farmbots will only be a problem at tier 9. . . but require atleast 20 pineapple/broccoli. So again, farmbot not important.

It’s not completely accurate because multiple lift engines will make you go up a lot farther than you probably should, but still a cool feature.

Hey scraps, just wanted to remind you that survival beacons are a thing. You can use them to keep track of where your vehicles are, your base, or certain points of interest.

Scrapman, just a sugestion: If you put some bearings in the crop defense wall and put the saws offcentered in this bearings powered by a controller, this should be a nice defence system for your crops.

The next upgrade for the airship should be: Blimp
Have 4 chemical thrusters above and your seat, bed, and belongings hanging below, like a blimp. Also create a balcony/dock to move on the side and potentially put chests on

I have a great idea for your airship
So, build it like a bug area where you can walk around, do your daily stuff (except planting obviously) and just have your inventory there and just use that area as your base and that main island can be just for farming and trading and I know you're a function person over form but make it detailed, that also gives you something to do over a few episodes
So like his nomad survival series and his rv but airborne

Hey Scrapman.
Remember last video where when you are up above your base you cannot go higher above a specific point? Well, my theory is that the air up there is thinner. And lightweight gas like in the gas inside the balloon wants to go until the very top of the atmosphere, since the air inside the balloon is less dense than the air in the atmosphere which is where you are. The higher up you go, the less efficient the lifting power your balloon has. Until it reaches a point high up where no amount of ballons could lift the craft any higher.
Thus, you decided to add more balloons. Not a bad decision!

You need Beacons on you base and vehicles, also mark islands that have harvestable.

Make a little emergency flying thing to get your copter thing if you accidentally fell into the void
Also try to make a elevator if you have enough piston
Also try to make a safe house when you die because of tape bots on raids
Also try to make a storage room on one of the island or just make one on the main island
Also try to add a reverse function for the copter and try to add thrusters on the top and bottom so it can go high and go down faster
Also try to make a barriers to stop from over shooting on sharp turn on your bridges
Also try to make a better barrier for your plants in case you accidentally planted to much plants and you spawned tape bots or even farm bots if that even possible
Drone props with level 5 engine is WAAAY more efficient than a max level thruster. A little slower yes, but easier to control.

I think you should find a small island nearby and fill the whole thing with crops. You could even look to maybe have a little death platform below. Make something that swipes around the island if something does spawn and it gets pushed off leaving you to farm the highest tier crops easily.
Scrapman flying around without a railing to catch him gives me anxiety.

I don't want to see this series end untill u have a floating platform with chests, I wonder how many 12 balloons could perform.
You should put thin concrete legs for the air ship, so if bots attack it, the concrete is what they will hit. it won't be too heavy because its just three or four legs. Maybe it will even balance the weight by doing that

I think you should get your balloon to look more like a zeppelin by rotating them so they are connected end to end instead of side by side. Also, set up a legit basket underneath using the bed as part of the floor so you have a decently big space you can walk on. Then, use blocks like bubble, net, or cardboard to shave off some weight. If you want to make it combat worthy instead of a forward gun you could set up a downward gun and use it like a bomber.
@Scrapman add a third air ballon, but don’t connect it to your buttons. Instead connect it to an extra switch, to give you extra lift when you’re really high up. If you don’t do that it’s gonna be really hard to have an even boyancy and keep the airship leveled

this would be epic in multiplayer, have 2 teams each 2 ppl and they have to build an carboard battle ship and loot, upgrade ship and attack or defend themselfs!
A couple years back, Fant showcased a nice blimp he made in his mod. Might serve as inspiration for the final version of yours.

Hey ScrapMan, with the Fant mod there is another way to craft batteries. For some reason it’s not located in the consumable section. I believe it’s located in the parts section and instead uses oranges.
And the Fant mod also adds in some automatic stuff that uses batteries.

Adding a platform with a railing to use as a shooting vantage point, the railing functioning like the safety bar that's on the airship already.
Too bad that rushing in the calm grip of hubris lost the propeller drone, the lost items and resources would be useful for the airship.
Adding a emergency crate onto the airship would be a very prudent action, as the respawn only leaves the tools, weapons and the lift on the character, anything else respawn at base so all the food and more important the ammo are back at base.
So the emergency crate should have a stack of ammo, chemicals, fuel, hunger and thirst replenishing items for securing the return voyage.
Great upgrade to the airship, I think a quad lift engine setup with propellers for movement controls are good goal to strive for.

I swear everytime Scrap's makes a survival series in ScrapMechanic I always look forward for the next episode but it cannot compare to the Nomadic series

When you forget you can build a turret that allows you to aim directly down while hovering over the enemies on. Also if it was me I'd have built an actual airship/blimp with a bedroom basically a RV in the sky

make a blimp!!!!! that would be awesome! with a safety hover system for when your out of the seat. just too make sure it doesnt fall out of the world.
Idea for a safety mechanism on the airship: Put a kill switch on the bottom of the airship that turns off the lift engines. That way if you fall off over land you can shoot the switch and recover the ship.

You should make the airship as useful as a Swiss Army knife. Guns bc cool and armor for tape bots. Drill with collectors maybe refinery. Getting more complex you could even do automatic farm defense with it you should really go all out and be creative with it!!
I think the balloon should be wider so you can walk around on it without falling out
If you did that it would serve as a better platform to shoot from.

Idea: Use a mountable spud gun, but aim it DOWN, so you hover over the enemies and fire down at them. No worry about them running off the islands then.
You should put a few blocks in front of the seat just in case you accidentally step forward you won't just fall and lose the air ship.

USE FERTILIZER ON THE BROCOLI SO ITS READY SAME TIME AS OTHER CROPS
Broccoli and Pineapples take two days to grow. (Everything else takes one day.) If you have fertilizer, use it on Broccoli and Pineapple so they take as long as the rest of your crops.
Consider putting a chest on your airship. Maybe two small chests to help with balancing.
Add some props for better control over the ship

Build saw blades on bearings and put them closer together, like 1 block apart. You can also make an sensor detecting the bots and slap the saw blade mechanism on a piston which push the saw blades toward the bots damaging them. I know it needs plenty of pistons and sensors etc, but it should be effective enough keeping the farm safe and helps with killing bots as well.
Maybe just build one section with 2 blades in front of farm *looking away from trader* and other side you can defend manually.
You gotta add some guardrails to your airship!
And maybe put a bed on it too!

I really like they let you make component kits with Totebot heads and circuit boards. I wish they did that in the real game but maybe only 1 component for 1 head and 3 circuit boards. I also like that lifting balloon and propeller. Some lifting wings like you had from another mod would be nice too, but I want this all in the base game. Then all we need is the new update to come out. Think of the nomad build you can do with portable farm plots and glow bug tanks (not sure if there is a clam tank). Fire damage will be interesting and all the new bots and locations will be great.
You should build a beacon for your base.
My first thoughts:
1. Make a big air balloon, but thats probably to big now.. So first make one extra balloon to equal boyancy.
2. Put a beacon in it!
3. Just build whatever you want I love the content!

With the airship, you should build an actual platform with like a 4x4 hole in the middle so you can shoot down below while being safe in your vehicle
If you don't want the raids to include the broccoli, you just need to start the countdown with 6 crops (for example carrots) and after it starts put all the broccoli you want. Use the fertiliser so the broccoli will grow within 4 a.m. . The raids will only count the crops put before the countdown start, so you'll get 24 broccoli with a raid for the 6 crops you put.
