@@iri8973 Canada is sanctioning those groups trying to destabilise and overthrow the current government. They have sent judges in, by invitation, to strengthen the rule of law. They are helping Moldova with their refugee crisis.

President Sandu, just go ahead with the request to the Ukrainian government to go into Transdnistra and remove the Russian forces from there, it will be a great favor to Moldova and Ukraine
Did you ask if Transnistrian citizens want that?
It will not happen. 1) Ukraine does not even have enough resources to fight for their own country or whatever is left of their country; and 2) This will be a violation of the UN resolutions since Russian peacekeepers are stationed there since 1990. On the other hand, the ukraine can violate the UN resolutions since the ukraine is a criminal state.

"destabilize Moldova"? Like Ukraine, they are framing Moldova to be this haven of stability, prosperity and democracy in Eastern Europe under threat of Russia. But Ukraine is the poorest country in Europe per capita, while Moldova is second. It has been destabilized since the fall of communism in 1991. Say what you want about Russia, but if Moldova was absorbed into Russia, it would be a great improvement over associating with Ukraine and NATO's war.

But these places have been a mess since 1991, and in all of that time, the West left them in chaos. I mean, they helped the Baltics, Poland, Czech, Slovakia, Hungary, etc., but Russia, Ukraine and Moldova were left to rot. Now, under an autocratic government, Russia is cleaning-up this mess.
So where TF were you in all of your caring for Ukraine in 2014-15 when this started? Did you send money there to feed and clothe those poor people? Have you ever been to these regions to see what it has been like for these 3 decades? I have.

@@laza8675 Russia's GDP per capita was about 2.5-3 times that of Ukraine in 2020. Measured both in USD terms, and PPP (purcasing power parity) terms. Today that number would be far worse. That flows through directly to income per capita. Both struggled in the post Soviet era, but Ukraine's struggles to regain its economic footing have been harder. Now it is devestated and will take decades to recover, tragically.
