Hello, Grace: I read some of the comments, many of your fans are concerned about you changing somehow, If anyone reads this, first Grace has a fantastic support group "her family" when it comes to the business part, her father Dave is extremely capable, so is her mother. Grace herself is very intelligent, she is learning as fast as she grows, there is no doubt she will change we all do, just as important Grace would walk away at any point she knows she is the comodity people want to see and hear. Anything can happen, but I think is all good. Just in case I forget you are terrific Grace!
What is there to say that hasn't been said before she is a talent of iconic proportions a vessel of emotional transference and story telling that is delivered directly into your soul. Like Van gogh or Mozart her impact will be truly realized further down the road and will stand the test of time when others simply fade away. She unifies the human spirit regardless of background or culture, let along genre of music. She is a unifier of the human spirit and is absolutely paramount in this world of today
Grace such a trooper. Came in wrong. But held her composer and got back on track. She tried to help her band find her. But hard to do when some music is on playback. Bravo performance.
it' s very damage that she had many problèm during her fist concert . she is positive , the better is now in front of her . Courage Grace , we are with you !
She's performed successfully in front of large outdoor crowds, such as at Austin. And had no visible problems. :you would think the professionals here would all have the technical problem fixed by now. The good thing is, at the next venues, the crowd will not know of any problems that hampered her before - and she starts fresh each time.
At ACL they weren't "borrowing" the stage and setup from the band that was following immediately after. Like skepto-o -punk explained in a different comment above (or below, depending on how your comments are sorted), they're stuck at the front of the stage ready for a quick exit at the end, with the evening sun in their eyes, and patching into the main speakers with their own audio equipment - all the sound equipment has probably been sound checked for ID's gear, not theirs (if I understood correctly what skepto said).
Scott Sampson, did Simon Cowell & SYCO productions go bankrupt and we just haven’t been told? That guy is probably a billionaire or close to it. Artist’s money comes from live performances, they’re lucky to get 25 cents per album. But I’m sure he’s gonna screw the next Taylor Swift too
All of the comments remind of a day when I was watching the super bowl with my dad. On the first set of downs, "our team" did something wrong, I remember. Me, and whoever else was in the room and the crowd moaned loudly and were upset that "our team" was losing the game already with this mistake at the beginning of the game. The only person not reacting was my dad, he acted like nothing happened. I asked my dad if he wanted "out team" to win and why was he not involved? He said, "the game just started, there's plenty of time to recover." Same here with Grace, there were a few flops for whatever reason, there is plenty of time to still "win" the game. And we know she will. Oh, and just think about how her dad feels about this mess up, I would not be surprised if the conversation from him is, fix it or goodbye. God Bless.
Leland Bartlett Well I would hate to work for her Dad then.. I would tell him to shove it up his ass and do something else with myself.. I'm sure that everyone is working hard behind the scenes.. People make mistakes, a big ego will destroy you eventually.. Elitism is delusion....
Thanks for posting this! :) One thing many people who haven't performed in a band on a large stage often don't really understand is that even though the PA Speakers are blasting loud sound out to the audience, when you're on stage you're at the mercy of your monitor speakers to actually hear it. (Musicians are truly at the mercy of the "sound guy/gal/person") Grace uses inner ear personal monitors which work amazingly well .... until they don't. If there is a problem then it is even worse with this system because you really can't hear the band mix at all. At the start of the song either something was off with her monitors and the midi tracking ... or she simply got a little lost as to where they were in the song -- or both! (Hard to know), but she got it resolved and moved on and finished big! First show in much bigger venue -- Go Grace!! You've got this.
Good morning "breakingdownthewall " from france ; look at this ............. amazing ! i learn this now ! " Grace VanderWaal will launch her acting career with the upcoming Disney movie Stargirl, which will be one of the first movies to premiere on the studio’s future streaming service. The 14-year-old singer won the 2016 season of America’s Got Talent and she is currently on tour with Imagine Dragons. Stargirl is based on the book of the same name by Jerry Spinelli and just like Grace, her character plays the ukulele." “I knew she was Stargirl almost immediately,” director Julia Hart said in a statement to Deadline. “The world knows what a talented performer she is, and I cannot wait for everyone to see just how many sides there are to this special and magical young woman.” We love you Julia Hart
Beautiful hairstyle and atmosphere but I maintain that the dress is superb ... to go to an evening or a concert but not to make a concert ! Or it must be reduced by a one minimum level ! Otherwise Grace is just gorgeous and awesome! Tense certainly, but that would not be and she really assured despite all the technical problems. In addition the rope of flowers should go around the front stage and not in a circle around the mic, it prevents her from dancing as she is used to. Also it's very dangerous , she can fall .Thank you Grace, you're the best. We love you ! Breakingdownthewall thanks a lot of course !
Knowing people that set up for concerts regularly it takes a team of regulars and local techs to put on one, two, or three hour shows. Not everything will go smoothly 100% of the time. There were even small hiccups in Grace's first tour in the beginning. I am sure these will all be smoothed out as the tour progresses and the technical team learns more about Grace's sound requirements.
All I have is love for this little miracle. She is so brave and courageous, and these public screw ups...whether they are her fault or not , if they don't kill her, they will make her stronger. Kids her age, and most adults, could not deal with the pressure of being on tour with Imagine Dragons, let alone the technical glitches that make her look bad in front of audiences who don't even 'know her name' or her songs. As for criticism, she has proven that she has maturity beyond her years to take it all in stride. All I ask is this, before making assumptions about what happened, and reacting negatively to THAT, bear in mind the Chinese adage: Seek first to understand; then, to be understood. Take a breath and move beyond the glitch and praise her for handling it like a pro. Having said that, I hope her crew has their act together before they get to Los Angeles in July! Oh, one more comment...Katie Perry had her left shark, and lived to tell the tale!
It´s so great to see Grace in a venue she deserves to be in. I bet this tour will be amazing, and even as a previous Imagine Dragons fan, I must say I think it should have been the other way around; they should have been warming up for her, or as someone else put it once - Grace isn´t warming up for Imagine Dragons. Imagine dragons are closing for Grace VanderWaal.
Grace is not the problem and her high profile management team had better get their act together; Grace is a genius and an old soul and they'd better start taking care of her. Quite frankly I like Imagine Dragons but Grace is so beyond them in terms of songwriting and performing ability. If this continues on the tour I'm going to get very pissed.
James Smithe I feel where your coming from, Sir, just not quite as strong. I don't think Grace needs to be in a big hurry to achieve super fame. Imo she just needs to maintain at least this level of relevance. So as long as she finishes each show without a meltdown, she's fine.. But I know Grace wants to achieve more than that as well. I know Grace will find a way make it work for her. That's her biggest talent, turning weakness into strength and winning.
Well, Grace never gets rattled; she's 14 going on 24 and I'm guessing getting the lead role in Stargirl is a further boost to her confidence. I mean, never acted and gets the lead role; who does that? Grace, of course. And she hasn't gone to high school yet. She's astonishing.
I know it would take several very good singers an extra guitar maybe & a bassist to fill out the sound without relying on the mini-monitors. It’s not Grace’s fault but someone has to fix this, I was sure last night’s show would be without the same problems. And maybe, just maybe the new keyboard guy gets a little lost sometime. I know we’re just starting this tour but it’s gotta make her feel awful & want to just go acoustic. As for the dress I just don’t give ‘ a, but these people are supposed to be true pro’s. I love ya Grace and I hope someone steps up & figures out what to do about this, you deserve so much better.
I wonder if Grace is touring with her own sound, light and stage crew. If not she may be at the mercy of local techs that don't know her gig. If she has her own people with he,r that rough night is appalling. It was like no one had a clue other than the instrument tech. Larger venues and different equipment shouldn't throw the train off the rails like that. A ton of people have said Grace deserves better. I'll add my voice to that as well. My two cents. I love the dress close up. I love how it moves. I think about an inch of silver, white or grey trim on the hems of the ruffles would help them stand out from a distance. To me the dress could use a little sparkle,
Michael Ingraham ... good question Michael. When I was on the road the only thing the local union guys only job was to work with the tour Mgr & get the gear on & off. Be damn if l can understand what’s going on these days with sound crews but I admit I’m a generation behind on it , but with today’s technology it’s like any computer; garbage in = garbage out.
I know this is supposed to be the other concert but why does the location look like Hartford and the mistakes Grace made and technical errors match exactly what Grace did in Hartford?
Dunno if I like that Angel of Death look. Schwoarze lippn grüne hoar! Do kanns dir angst wern, wiklich woar! (cookie to them who get the reference.). But then again: It doesn't matter how your hair looks, or what they are thinking...
HotelPapa100 lol...well, for the larger venue maybe she feels as if she needed more makeup so her features stand out more...stage actors do that i believe...but im just talkn out my arse...i have no idea really. Lol
HP100, if u don´t know, i do: the dress is a catastrophe. Ugly and ridiculous. no body dares to say it loud. And if it has a meaning, i don't get it...
WIKDEZOEP while some may not get the dress, that's fashion and design. I dont get modern art but some pieces sell for millions$$$. Nothung wrong with voicing your opinion here either. Sometimes stars and leaders need to hear honest feedback.
WIKDEZOEP well, I get the intention. They stay with the theme of the „just the beginning“ album cover: silvery greys and flowers. It doesn‘t work very well, though.
I get so frustrated watching her perform. 0:16 How does she not know the freaking song? I'm really trying to be a fan, I do like her stuff, but why can't she play a show without messing up? Some mess ups are fine (not really, but she's going to do it), but this is really odd that she can't even start the song correctly.
Ford Beeblebrox - Quit putting all what on Grace? I just said it's frustrating. I mean, I watch figure skating and feel the same way, knowing they'll probably fall at any second. There's something annoying about this though, that literally all she has to do is sing. And she stays messing up. GRANTED, there have been technical difficulties too. But she's opening for Imagine Dragons. They probably realize now that she wasn't ready for this.
Lindsey Henderson This was not her fault something was clearly going on with her earpiece she usually smiles when she makes a mistake she didn't smile and she was focusing on something and looking at the side of the stage she knows what she's doing. Why don't you just back off and give her some time she'll get better she's only 14.
They need to get rid of the freakin backing track and get her a real band. That backing track creates nothing but problems for her repeatedly. I tend to agree with Lindsey that these issues are starting to get old. I know they aren't Grace's fault, but for Pete's sake, either get her a decent sound crew or a real band.
Incredible concert incredible song incredible singer
Girl you are my super hero!
Bolli Djamikoen Jehovah should be your superhero

She did great. In a few years, she will let Imagine Dragons open for her.
WOW I know why I value Grace.
Just watch this wonderful video.
But careful .... it is addictive. Thanks so much Kelly
it' s very damage that she had many problèm during her fist concert . she is positive , the better is now in front of her . Courage Grace , we are with you !

Pardon my French ;-)

The little hiccups are all part of the charm of this still-growing performer! Grace is incredible!

Yea it was a glitching , it was weird , Grace smartly decided to let it play through back to the verse so she could get back on track

Apparently all the people commenting about the mess ups have never been to a concert.
B R the point I was making is sh_t happens. Old army addage.
Yeah they act like humans are or can be perfect all the time.. I'd hate to work for these pricks...

Seems to be something going on with the new keyboard guy. Hope she can work that out.

No, the "errors" do not match exactly. Stop your trolling.
If you keep this up you are going to get banned for harassment. You are new you don't know the power of Graces Army.
Victor Vining "Grace's Army" lol what the hell are you going on about.. You followers are weirdos..
Be careful, don't ask questions or you might get attacked by zombies...
JR Walters Fame out of UA-cam comments? I think you might want to go get some fresh air...
Destiny and the Boys. Grace needs your help.
TIM POLAND ... very well & simply said, someone’s got to stand up & correct this mess.
