Why do I feel like every time a symphonic metal band releases a new album, a group of people are all "BOOHOOO IT'S NOT METAL"? I'm starting to think people actually want the same album over and over again.
Meanwhile, this song feels nostalgic to me, in a good way. Kind of reminds me of when I first discovered the genre. I love the desperation in the pre-chorus and chorus, it demands attention. Grabs my heart in some way. Go Epica! :)
I have heard the previews on itunes and this cd sounds as good as epica has always been and simone's voice seems more colorful and varied than ever.

I agree, but it's BOTH that captures me...the symphonic AND the metal. I discovered this genre many years ago (I'm in my late 40's just for the sake of saying so), and I truly love this stuff, and the lyrics speak volumes. I love the old Nightwish (with Tarja), Within Temptation (Sharon den Adel), Kamelot (Roy Khan, who is sadly not with them anymore), and others. This European music far beats out more than half the crap that's played in the US today. Concur...Go Epica!

I like the song and I'm always amazed with Simone's wonderful voice... so congratulations for the new work!! I can't understand people who always is pissed off with metal band's changing and evolution... if it's always the same, we just get bored. A band who is able to evolve, change and continuely improvising its work and sound it's a good band. A band who is always doing the same, more and more of the same, it's not a good band, nor artistic, nor creative.

@LaTulipeRouge I am native Dutch and for me her accent sounds quite normal. In fact, I don't even hear any accent in her English, while noting the pronunciation as better then average.
Anyone feel that Simone may have gotten with Floor Jansen for inspiration for this song? I sounds very After Forever/ReVamp'ish. Sounds amazing, but just my opinion.

I don't think other bands have completely "turned to shit" but they do change and always have, probably for commercial or monatary reasons( to gain more mainstream audience). They lose some of their originality and alienate some of their early fanbase. I agree with you the new Xandria is incredible, a change for the better I think :)

I was actually interested to hear what you had to say, but I sort of do see what your point is. I just don't believe that personally, I mean it is a rather dark track but I don't believe in satanism, I know tons of friends that do. Something I would consider satanic which I rarely do is Blut Aus Nord - Epitome VI.
