@@cowbatboots282 wait what? like she's faking her autism? LOL idk I'd find that hard to believe, especially after seeing her journey on love on the spectrum! I love her!

This is a taught and learned behavior that I wish I had known how to do back in the day. I love how they respect her boundaries when she expresses them
I love it. Some people have trouble with setting boundaries in relationships, (including myself obviously) and people that have trouble with setting boundaries often times fall victim to narcissistic of abuse. Stay strong. Stay positive. Stay with GOD!
My son got stuck on the "got paid peanuts" and even after I explained it, I heard him mumble "I want to be paid in cashews, or pistachios, I like pistachios" lol. So many don't teach autistic kids nuances and grey areas, it really helps them to do what you're doing. You're both awesome.
My son needed the toilet on the way home from school and I said "we're so close to home, can you hold it?" He then proceeded to *literally* hold himself the rest of the way
Genuinely think autism can be a blessing in disguise. For people to have the ability to look at the world so literally with no bias or underlying nuance, it's almost like wearing glasses for the first time. Simply amazing!
Man not in my experience I don't see why people can't just say exactly what they mean exactly what's on their mind and I don't think I've had a real friend in my entire 32 years of life everyone I thought was a friend has always turned out to have some kind of hidden motive for hanging out with me
You can say “She is my favorite person on the internet….” Adding “literally” brings nothing of value to what you are saying but a feeling of overwhelming crushing cringe.
I’m autistic, too, with a special interest in 18th century ships. We use the term “under the weather” because on a ship the operating room/sick bay was generally on the lowest possible deck, below the waterline! When you were sick, you were literally underneath all the weather. Tons of other idioms come from sailing. When we tell someone to “pipe down” it connects back to the boatswain’s whistle, which he would blow on to tell the sailors to go below decks for the night: literally piping to tell them them to go down to eat and sleep for the night.
My Abuela learned English as an adult. She loved learning new idioms. She had a dictionary of idioms she kept in the linen closet so if someone said one she didn’t know, she could look it up. She’d get so excited to use new ones and teach me ones I didn’t know yet. She passed away but I still get excited every time I hear a new one!
This is so helpful for me to see. My 12 year old is high functioning autistic and so so literal that I am still struggling to communicate with him and find myself getting frustrated that he doesn't catch on to certain things. Even though he is 12 and was diagnosed at 3 it is an ongoing learning experience. He has taught me so much.
Omg would I LOVE to be her friend in real life!! Her inability to be anything but genuine and honest is so endearing. She would make me laugh all the time for the best reasons. Her facial expressions and delivery are top notch!!❤❤❤
She has such Disney Princess vibes in her animated speech and expressions! Always a joy to see her on screen. She also seems like a Disney Princess in her sincerity 💖
If Disney was good at marketing they would have Abby do a princess for a week and have a picture taking booth and a meet and greet I can’t imagine it wouldn’t have a huge turnout ❤❤
I find it really cool how autistic brains interpret stuff. It’s totally understandable once the person explains their line of reasoning and makes you think about the ways things would be different if we all communicated that way

I teach predominantly autistic children as a IEP learning specialist. This is a good reminder to explain myself more often. 2nd her facial expressions were so captivating!
I struggled with "don't look a gift horse in the mouth" until I realised that it's because you can tell the age of a horse by looking at its teeth. Of course, if you're going to receive a horse as a gift, you'd prefer a younger one - but the idiom says it would be rude to check how "good" the gift someone gives you is, and to instead just graciously accept it with thanks So if someone gives you a horse as a gift, just say thank you, and don't immediately look in the horses mouth to see how old it is/therefore how good of a gift it is
My granddad used to tell me “if wishes were horses then beggars would ride”. I was always like “uhh, no shit. Who would pass up a free ride compared to walking”. Then I realized beggars don’t pass up free anything unless it’s free work. 😂
She has the best personality! She reminds me of one of my closest friends growing up. I wound up losing most of my friends because I would stick up for her when she was bullied. She wound up being one of the most loyal, amazing friends I’ve ever had.
I love her!! I love the show - Love on the Spectrum. Wonderful, sweet and special individuals and families. Thank you for sharing your lives with us. ❤❤
"you cant have your cake and eat it too" confused me as a kid cause "but I dont eat the whole cake in one go, I only have a slice, so I technically do eat my cake and still have it" the family was so over me
For me I just couldn't wrap my head around it, because to me that was the whole point. I have my cake so that I CAN eat it. I still don't necessarily know what this idiom means.
@@blueismylove3128 I understand what it means now. It's trying to say you can't eat the cake and have it still look perfect and pretty like when you got it. The idiom is about wanting two things that conflict with each other and how you have to make a decision. At least I'm pretty sure.
I learned a few months back that I’ve been saying it wrong it’s you can’t have your Kate and Edith too 😂 but I like you can’t have your cake and eat it too more 🤣
I struggle with idioms too (autistic) but usually once someone explains the origin, I can then understand it "You can't have your cake and eat it" comes from a time when people, usually those of a higher class, would buy really beautiful decorative cakes to have on display in their homes, particularly when guests were coming over. So the cake was just to "have" because it looks pretty, not to eat, because once you start cutting into it and taking pieces away, it's no longer this perfect decorative item. Hence you can't both have/show off the cake and get to eat it too
I can see her developing so beautifully and clearly. I want her to be happy with other humans as soon as possible. But I see a happy strong person.. and I am wishing her the BEST LIFE now and always.
my cousin's then wife a few years back was talking about her younger teenage sisters. she was saying how one of them was acting mouthy and angsty at there Thanksgiving get together but instead of just saying that she said "she was showing her a**"! i was extremely confused to why a 15 year old girl would be pulling down her pants and showing her bare butt to her family members like that!! How weird is that!! so i asked her "whaaaaaat?!?!" and she chuckled a little and had to explain "showing her a**" means just being mouthy and disobedient! 🤣
