Wow! Breitenbush is almost unrecognizable from its previous incarnation. Thanks for this tour.
I so enjoyed this video. As an Oregonian I have been to Brighten Bush many times but did not have the heart to visit lately due to the fire damage. I live in Salem and managed to only get as far as Mill City one day but the devastation was just too sad to see. I do remember hearing the news that the lodge was spared and we were all over joyed to hear that. It looks so different there but all of us that love the Cascades we are thankful that it will come back and people are rebuilding. ❤❤❤
Such a beautifull area. I love pine forests. The smell and in the summer the ground with ferns and all kind of moss.
My first experience of Breitenbush was in 1982, a workshop with “Ecotopia” author Ernest Callenbach, where I was also introduced to the struggle to save the region’s old growth forests. I became involved with that movement, which took me back to Breitenbush a number of times. It was a center of old growth activism, one of the gestation points of the movement which indeed did shut down much of the old growth logging. I haven’t been back in a number of years, but I am glad to see the recovery from the fires.
Those mosses are magical, beautiful nature can handle itself,it recovers from the fire successfully!👍
Dude I use to work there !!! What an Amazing Place to be and Live 🤙🏼🤙🏼💯☀️
Sweet, that sounds like a great experience. 👍

In 1993 I was 21 years old and had been living in Bondi for 2 years already! I wish I had the gumption to go exploring then. This area is so beautiful Gabriel thank you for showing us!
OMG - it's shocking to see what the fires did. The little cabins were so special - under a blanket of big mature fir trees. The trees are all gone! Looks like the bath houses were burned down as well. Extremely sad - but I'm glad they saved the big hall or whatever it's called. I think you forgot to mention how good the food is. First time in my life I had tofu and LOVED it. My favorite pool is the silent pool that you were able to film. Soaking and listening to the river = pure heaven! BTW - I met Dan Milliman (spelling?) at Powells - I've read The Way Of The Peaceful Warrior several times - but I must say I like the second book, can't remember the name, where he is in Hawaii. Thank you for filming as much as you could of Breintenbush. It's almost unrecognizable.
The second book was great as well, he actually went to the island of Molokai, which I went to recently.
This man deserves millions subs and views never stops!
What a magical place! When you mentioned it on the last video, I watched your video from before….really awesome! Pine trees. Mountains, fresh air and hot pools! Yes!
I used to go annually for the reiki retreat! Love the way nature restores ❤️
❤
Beautiful green nature
Dear Gabriel, i know that you were in my small hometown Sremska Mitrovica ( SIRMIUM ) Serbia to visit a royal palace if i am not wrong, and it was closed...
I want to invite you again if you have time to visit and hopefully i could show you a little bit more! The best time to come is a summer or spring! Great video once again, keep making those great videos! All the best
Call before you go if you want to soak. Need a day pass. Lodging options as well. Note, they do fill up in the Summer and host private conferences and such so make sure you get reservations! Amazing place.

Hi. Also from Bangkok 😊
Hello Bangkok❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
@@user-mn6sq3is4t😊❤🇧🇦
Very Wholesome video of my home , thank you for being positive!!!
I see why you live in the northwest of the USA...is so gorgeous 😍
@dougbarker2227 I live in Louisiana and we don't have sequoia trees or snow-capped mountains 😕
Gotta day this hit hard! I have not been up since the fires😭I know things will come back better than ever💚💚💚
I can understand why it's one of your favorite places in the world, gorgeous nature, serene ambience, lovely ...
You can ramble on as much as you want, love your stories! Absolutely beautiful area, shame about the fires, but there are still a lot of trees remaining and is lovely and green. At least the main lodge survived. We get fires in Australia and know how devastating they can be, especially for wildlife as well as the environment. Thanks for showing this beautiful little piece of Oregon. Enjoy the hot springs. 😊❤️
I camped with my family at Humbug many times when I was little.. many fond memories
❤
Such a beautiful place!!!
Beatiful nature love it! ❤
I love the platforms to use a tent on. It looks really nice there.
Very interesting area hope you're enjoying your time there
Hi Gabriel, an amazing retreat I'm sure you have many things to contemplate. I do think many places don't like too much publicity for reasons that visitors might overrun these locations and cause havoc while other places feel like they can't get enough visitors. The strange thing about fires is they rejuvenate the forest they provide regrowth you can see some deforestation on the premises but I'm sure that's all managed by replanting and reseeding.
Hey nice video! Those CRVs are great for exploring Oregon’s natural areas
I’m heartbroken looking at the deviation from the fires! I’ve been there many times and in the late 90’s I did a weeks working interview in the kitchen at the lodge. Unfortunately, at that time, there wasn’t enough housing to live there even though I was offered the job. It’s a magical place for sure.
Very beautiful
Cascade mountains Some of the best hops in the world are grown there I believe 🙏
Nothing is farmed in the forest. Yakima is a arid dey place that might as well be Mexico
Not in the Cascades, but west a few miles in the Willamette Valley.
Haven't been here since before the fire. Glad it's still there. Wonderful place.
I'd love to go there!
Big ski resort up here in NH called Bretton Woods
hey Gabe! you're in Oregon, why not visit the Thor's Well. It is in the coast near Captain Cook Point.
Hi Gabriel, I really appreciate what you're trying to do for Jacqui. I hear that oxygen therapy can be really effective for brain injuries. I think it will be worth Jacqui looking into that possibility. Hyperbaric chamber can even be rented.
Thanks.
Oregon is beautiful along the coast. If you ever go to NJ, visit Swaminarayan mandir, incredible, like a tall cathedral, sculptured marble up, down, all sides, nothing like it in US till now.
Been there. Ahhh, college daze
Nice one
Look nice . Sri Lanka is number one travel destination for solo female traveller for 2024
Love Oregon 🏕
Looks like such a cool place. These establishments should pay you for the promotion or at the very least give you the accomodation for free. Throwing this place on my bucket list :)
I notice the Pinebark Beetle is killing Lodgepole Pines in Oregon, was in Rocky Mountain NP last summer and they are hit hard out there. Coincidence that I'm heading to Glenwood Springs next week, think it costs $59 for access to all the pools, not sure if that is the full day or just a 3 hour time slot, think 3 hours.
What about returning to El Salvador? What a great destination. I could easily see you doing a month plus there.
I lived in Eugene, OR from 1990 to 1996. Maybe we crossed paths 🤔
OMG those cabins are nothing like the old ones, how devastating. not the same
Hi from Arizona🌵
👋👋👋👋👋👋
Hi Gabriel it is very expensive! There are so many countries have Hot Natural Water but not expensive.
Adult / teen (age 13+): $35 per pass, $14 per lunch*
Youth (5-12 years old): $20 per pass, $10 per lunch*
Child (0-4 years old): no charge
*Adding lunch is optional - you’ll make a selection when you book.
I don't know why, maybe it's because the weather seems quite gloomy, but the place strikes me as a great setting for a horror or mystery movie. I'd feel kind of uneasy to be looking round there at this time of year. Spooks me.
❤❤❤
❤
What main road did you turn off of, and what river did you just cross?
Hi Gabriel,
I'm going to Portland Oregon next month. What should I definitely visit or do?
Go to a McMenamin's and watch a movie with a beer and some good food. There are a bunch of them and they're all unique. You could go to one of the restaurants or you can even take food and drinks into the movie theaters.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos Thank you so much!
There used to be concrete tubs and changing area down the river bank from the lodge. Are they still there? They were the main hot tubs at the time.
Yes, the spiral tubs are still there.
Hey Gabriel, I spent a lot of time at Harbin Hot Springs in Northern Ca. in the 1990's, (long before its wildfire destruction and re-build). Breitenbush reminds me of Harbin...I wonder if you have ever gone to Harbin and if so, how would you compare it to Breitenbush. If not, then check it out. I cannot speak for it today, but when I went there it was less expensive and meals were more flexible-they had a small market and a restaurant that was optional. So, ever been to Harbin? Has a similar vibe to Breitenbush...but neither place is Cappadocchia 😊
Yes, I've been to Harbin a few times. I think Breitenbush is a lot nicer, more pools to choose from of different temperatures and I like the setting more.
👍👍👍
😊❤🇧🇦
Is this the same place you were in a video a while ago with Sterling, or it was another hot springs place?
Yes, same place, that was in 2015.
😊❤🇧🇦
Hello 😂
“ badly damaged by the fires of a few years ago”. Let me rephrase that…. DECIMATED IS MORE LIKE.
This area was one of the last great stand of old growth tree forest in the PNW. The environment is SLOWLY recovering. It use to be one of greenest freshest, wildest stunning places on Earth. Now, ugh, I can’t even go back yet. Thanks for the video. Also, the Land grab for old growth trees was excessive. Don’t be fooled. Breightenbush profited greatly from this land grab money maker. They are always crying broke. Now the prices, $178.00 a night for a cabin? No way.
4th?
Do they do day-passes or half-day passes?
Yes, you can buy a day pass, I think it's $35.
❤
I love getting out in nature, camping, outdoorsy stuff. But I just find this a little bit weird. I think it was the "there was a didgeridoo music group thing going on." And all the mention of meditation and stuff. Each to their own, everyone has their own likes and interests, Im not putting anything down. Just mentioning how I feel for I dont know what reason.
For me, nature, getting outside is about being adventurous, energetic, having a beer at the end of a long day of some sort of excersize, with singing and patying.
This place sounds like it has too many rules for my liking.
A BUCK EIGHTY SEVEN FOR THAT AND NO PILLOWS ? WHAT THE FLUCK MOTHER DUCK ? 😂 🤣 😂
There are no bears or pumas pulling you outta the water and eating you?
The Pacific Northwest Region.
Osho opened his Ashram in Portland Oregon I guess
Lol.
They had a bunch of rhe cult's belongings and propaganda and even had 2 of the rolse royces at the high desert museum in bend last year. It was coool. They also had a burning man exhibit. And this year they had andy Warhol exhibit
The cars he had were bad ass dude
His ashram was in eastern Oregon.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos his first one was in portland and the main office there.
Please visit Montana and Wyoming love from India Gabriel
You should have seen it before the fires.
I agree, the old cabins were nicer.
Does Gabe smoke the ganj
I think he used to, now probably just eats it as smoking is so bad for you!
Breitenbusch sounds very alemán.
So much less views, indrasting 🤧😤👽
Dum dum da da da dum dum da da da. SKOL.
Brightenbush is an old hippy commune--the early hippies learned to get their legal rights to maximize their profits. They are aggressive in their management style--they rule the place with an iron fist. The rules are overwhelming, but you follow the rules or get the hell out. I was never comfortable there.
You would also have to be comfortable with the nudity there.
Bagby HOT SPRINS IS OPEN NOPERATIONAL
Love baby hot springs. Great little hike to get there! Love the big log tubs for soaking. Been going there for 40years plus! Snow or sun, I was there!
Why are you sharing this, did you get their permission ?
Ive wanted to hike up there for awhile now. I drove that road once long way in after detroit i think.
I have not seen detroit since the fire. That fire was gnarly 2020 lionshead fire.
Gabe the morels will be popping up soon there.
I have never been a fan of hotpsprings. Slimy smelly egg water. Meh.
It depends a lot on the hot spring, the ones at Breitenbush don't smell like sulfur or anything else. I agree, when they have the sulfur smell it's not as enjoyable.
No smell at Bagby either 🎉
