Great advice in this video! Buy your first 3 -10 kayaks used so you really know what you want in a kayak and how you want to paddle. You can probably resell it in a year or two for the same amount as you bought it. Also, take some lessons early while learning to paddle & join a paddling club!

My sweetheart got us fishin kayaks, we use them for fishin, but they are also great for days where we wanna paddle around with our friends.
I was talking to my girlfriend recently about getting a boat because we like to go paddling in the Kromme Rijn here and it's almost always flat and chill. She wanted to get one of those blow up boats and I've been apprehensive about just getting one because I don't know much about this sport. This video hit the spot for me and we can filter our options better now. Thanks for the awesome video!

Went on my first kayak trip two weeks ago. A shallow twisting creek that dumped into a peaceful lake. I’m in love! Just bou go t my own boat and am eager to explore. Loved this video and appreciate the info!
Just come back from Cornwall, UK where we had some fun in an inflatable, it took me back to surf riding as a kid. Your opinion and advice is well appreciated, I'd love to kayak more regularly, I think however it will remain a holiday treat!

People .... I have severe PTSD problems but even kayaking in the Netherlands is so tranquil and full of animal live ..if that doesn’t work than nothing well , really love to go explore and a kayak is my recommended boat

I do agree. I live in Texas in the US. I also have ptsd, severe anxiety disorder and depression, kayaking is one of those things that are so so peaceful and freeing for me.

I live 1 minute from the Meditteranean Sea in Israel, and I find myself looking up info about buying my first kayak. This video pops up and without further checking you out, I can HEAR your Dutch accent. Then I look and figure out you're a Haarlemmerrrrr! My birth town! What a coincidence. I’m sitting high and dry all summer because COVID has slowed down the production of the one I ordered 3 months ago. I’m still waiting and the prices are going up on any cheap ones available. Price gouging!
do you have any advice for slalom kayaks? i've tried a few and personally i prefer galasport but do the newer models, like the caipi, make that much of a difference or would i be fine with a tiktak, also does the type make much difference (carbolight, profi ect.)

Hello I'm really needing help and wondering if it is possible to buy a central pillar for a kayak I cannot find this anywhere online
I don’t really know what you mean by pillar. But it’s not uncommon for people to just use foam and construct a support to keep their kayak from collapsing… its just a hard foam you shape your self. Otherwise I know jackson kayaks sells outfitting foam… try googling jackson kayak outfitting…
What is a spray deck?, you mentioned it, but I haven't heard that before
Good question! So a spraydeck or sprayskirt, is a neopreen skirt you wear around your waist which fits around and closes off your cockpit. This way there wont come in any water. And you can for instance roll, paddle in waves and whitewater and not get any water in your boat. However this also means you are “stuck” inside your boat, and need to pull away the skirt before you can exit. Something you will want to practice safely with help on hand first before wearing one.

Pedal kayaks weren't mentioned here... They go pretty darn fast, are very easy for beginners to get around in, you use your legs and so it's a great option if you're unskilled and you can go most places if you're careful about shallows and grass/debris from what I know -but I am NOT an expert whatsoever... I know nothing!

I’m not really in the know what would be best suited for you. You might just want to pop by a local dealer and give some a try! I know a lot of brands make boats for all range of paddlers.
