I appreciate all the insight and ideas I get from people! I incorrectly say Wubdegghütte in the video, the correct name is Windegghütte (Link in description) apologies for the confusion!

Switzerland is such a paradise! ❤🇨🇭❤
What amount of time you need to get till the bridge and return to the parking lot if you use the cablecar?

    • @WalkandTalkchannel
      @WalkandTalkchannel  3 роки тому

Hi Vantablack, yeah, everything you film up in the mountains looks amazing by default! 😂
The hike down take about 1-1.5h to the cablecar if you take the short rute (the way I took up), the cablecar takes 10 min, and you'll be right by the parking spot. Given you pre book your spot you don't have to stand and wait by the cablecar. (The hiking time is dependant on your fitness level of course, I'll do it in less than 1h)

I know 🤣, when I rendered the full video and wrote the description I realized my mistake (correct in description) I decided to pretend nobody would notice, let's pretend I said Windegghütte 🙈

I am from Australia and not accustomed to walking in snow and mountains. I will be in Switzerland in October 2022 and considering crossing this bridge. I am not sure I can do the hike to get there. It seems stoney and uneven. I’m not an experienced hiker or mountaineer. Is it safe for any age and fitness level?

Hi Immacolata, How nice that you travel all the way to Switzerland from Australia, I'm going to Australia in December :P I see it as 3 questions, the first regardin snow / ice / the path, the second regarding your experience and the third regarding fitness. In my world the first relates more to age as in balance, strength etc. while the third relates to fitness level. So firstly, regarding walking in snow/ice in the mountains there are certain things you can do if you are older and have less good balance etc., it can be a bit tricky but if you are uncomfortable you can buy traction cleats which you just strap on your shoes once you get to the snow but watch out when walking on rocks with them, it will make it very slippery! I used hiking sticks when I went there not to fall so if you use both I would assume you're fine if you take it slow.
Secondly, regarding not being an experienced hiker, you can make this hike more or less "hard" by:
      1. Go by cable car vs hiking up
      2. Go to the bridge and back with or without going to the Hut we passed in the video
      3. If you want to go to the hut as well, go the way I did or go up and down from where I walked down after passing the hut
so the "hard" part is basically from the bridge to the hut.
And thirdly, I would not say this requires any high fitness level given you can take the cablecar up most of the way and if you only go to the bridge and back it's not that bad BUT you are still walking uphill on a higher altetude so it does affect you.
Basically you are doing 2.5km with 400m of ascent on the way there but if you are not in a hurry you can take as much time as you want to get there :) here is a link to the easiest rute -www.komoot.com/plan/tour/d01AsimIwB_MbU=FwfQCg2iUn41kxP_KTYIqbAA/@46.6994667,8.3472410,14.583z
Feel free to ask more questions, I just don't want to write too much to overwhelm you!

@@WalkandTalkchannel Thank you so much for the detailed information. Not overwhelming at all. I will opt to take the cable car as far as I can (weather permitting). I look forward to following your videos in Australia.

Lovely! This year has been rather warm so it might be that you are lucky and there aint snow yet depending on when you go there! if it doesn't work out feel free to reach out, there are other good places you can go, I will make a new video in 1-2 weeks of a great place to go if it's snowy and you'll love that place too!
Yeah, I'll try to find a few cool places to hike, i've realized it's not really a place where you ahve high mountains and one can drive to the top of your highest mountain :)

@@WalkandTalkchannel Do you have any videos of the Europaweg Skywalk in Randa? I would like to walk across that bridge but I’ve heard mixed reviews of the hike to get there. Some say it’s not a difficult hike, others say it’s dangerous and only for experienced hikers.

    • @WalkandTalkchannel

I've never been, I am very afraid of heights actually and hang bridges are one of the worse things to do! The walk itself is T2 which is not too bad but the bridge itself is classed as T4, check what it means here www.bergfreunde.eu/alpine-grades-calculator/
I can't help you more than this, but T2 is the same grade as the hike in this video so you can expect something similar, here is an example rute but I don't know anything about this path - www.komoot.com/plan/tour/d01Ar9tsgB2vfI=FwcABKfzCwp5mqmpOWZH0oA=/@46.0996100,7.8040911,14.736z
