6:58 this might be my favorite forehand ever struck. down match point. Huge windup, insane racket head velocity, and then the transition into the warcry, its just beautiful haha.
Monfils performance before the coronastuff in 2020 was awesome, I hope he can maintain this world class game when atp is back!
*IF atp is back.
@@adityaselvaria why not when
Monfils always plays good solid tennis in the first quarter of the year and then its the same old inconsitency from him.
Suat Kaya tennis he only goes god mode when the crowd speaks French.
Nope 😬
The end interview sums up monfils career
Svitolina: can you play a bit more interesting for me babe?
monfils:
@Oliver McCall Exactly! Was so pissed. There was no need to hit a stylish winner on match point.
Rishi Manda He plays too much, he should have managed to win atleast ONE slam by now
@@ayoayo7730 not when the big three are playing
one year later, they are not even together anymore 😂😂

2:23 That's one of the strongest drives I've seen in my life. +170km/h, WTF?
Nadal’s face says it all 😂
Like Gasquet said people don’t realize how unbelievably Monfils is STRONG
He hit a 186km/h forehand
The only thing missing from his game is the belief to win .
pretty much! the mental part is lacking.
@@blazeking5206 Dude watch again the end of that match in Montreal against Nishikori... he doesn't ordinarily give up, he's not like Tsonga who is really lacking mental strength
His real problems are his endurance and his consistency through tournaments
If only he'd hit every shot with half the intensity he hits his big finishing forehand or backhand. But it's Monfils ! We must be glad some players value making the show more than winning at all costs !
He's a shotmaker - doesn't have the consistency to win a major unfortunately.
He was #6 IN THE WORLD. Since then he fell out of the top 20 and then fought back to #11 at the age of 34.
Once you reach the top 10 in the world at anything I don't think you can criticize his winning ability. You don't get to that point without that belief inside of you.
Guys like Djokovic/federer/nadal literally sacrifice 100% of their time to their craft. With that comes leading a pretty boring life. Immence respect to that level of dedication but don't mistake monfils having fun with a lack of will.
Gael is special, I will really miss him when he stops playing on the tour. The main reason I fell in love with tennis is because of watching this guy.
12:18 when you find her g-spot
7:15 when you find her g-spot
Monfils ‘ backhand is so underrated
Paul maïga It’s a reliable backhand, but he barely uses its potential. He likes to just dump it in the middle of the court and let the opponent attack.
0:37 does it for me. One of the best points in tennis history.
In terms of Tennis, it doesn't get much better than the comeback against Nishikori, the screams leading up the that final winner is just amazing. And the crowd just going crazy. Chills.
"he's gonna be one of the best players in the world this year"
then came covid 19
@Oliver McCall man youre stupid as fck
Every year at the beggining he is in the first at the ATp race
Yup and he's streaming on twitch in the meantime >
He was playing very well indeed until the ATP tour was stood down. If anything, he has found peace with Svitolina. His physique is great. Love the way he moves around the court. He was unfortunate to have had a lot of injuries. Great player and great guy !
@Oliver McCall man you are soo f ing stupid, people are dying and you're saying God bless, how dare you say that you stupid brat.
Against nishikori was probably one of the best match ending of all time !!
His game is so complete but he doesn't have strenght to finish the match
He give so much on the court, he really have to train endurance and maybe be a top class player next year
Yeah what about vs Nishikori with 3 match points against him ? ? ?
Lack of strenght due to the lack of hard training due to lack of envy and rage due to lack of champion state of mind. Lack of mental capacities to be able to keep his mind clear while he's tearing his body apart in the physical fight for the game. He should have trained with special forces to learn how to give everything and still keep his mind clear... now it's too late and it's super sad since I love his style....
@@atxsnf658 Training with special forces might be really good for his mental strength, but missing out on practise and tournaments in ones prime years could be devastating to a sportsmans career. It's a high-risk, high-reward solution imo. Might work. might just miss out on crucial practise.
@@ililcookie_ My statement was a bit cliché, I must admit :) To me the main issue comes from the mindset. All french tennis players thinks they reached their goal an don't feel the need to perform more. A true champion never thinks like that, "always a beginner" mindset is the way to always try to get better and, to me, the best path to became a champion :)
6:50 that build up 😂
I saw him play in Rotterdam this year and last. He's like a spider, and the base line is his web. Guys just can't hit through him, he's the king of court coverage. And look how far back he stands for return! In person it's unbelievable. The courts I play at don't even extend that far back
His Comeback against Nishikori was absolutely ridiculous
12:18 Moans for Monfils
I heard that too, lmao
I saw your comment and I just knew it would be that moan.
I came here to see if someone would mention that!!
Love him. Remember that game with Cilic ! He is my favourite player by far !!!
Just goes to show you that no matter how well you play beating Rafa on clay is almost impossible, the man is a beast.
Nadal is so good like look at how good monfils is playing and he s still losing
stefan Ghinescu that’s not true Monfils was outplaying Nadal. It’s just like in the USO Medvedev was outplaying him at the end. It’s just that beast mode in itself is very inconsistent for 4-5 shots in a row you won’t be able to put those shots that you put before and then you will start to doubt yourself and hold back.
Also nadal can only do this on clay or slower hardcourts
@@ryansodhi1815 *laughs in Wimbledon 2008*
What I meant was his domination
Yeah Monfils was absolutely brilliant in Monte-Carlo for two sets but Nadal was able to sustain his level better. Underrated talent of the big 3 is hardly ever dropping their level after winning a close set
That match against Nishikori, I can just watch that every day and never get bored.
6:38
"That is completely mainline"
*Right* *sideline* : Am I a joke to you?
man these plays and the match itself, against Nishikori was so freaking epic (Montreal, 5:32).. omg, he just passed all the limits, totally god mode! its just absurd the kind of quality and importance, at the same time, of the points he played.. he was 3-5 at 3rd set, Nishi serving for the match, 30-all, he just rips 2 insane winners!!!! and then breaks, confirms, and the drama just continues when Nishikori now has 3 match points man, in the tie break!!!!!!!!!!! no mistake, just 3 insane shots again.. he was something else that day
That was a brilliant match. Monfils resilience and accuracy on the big points was insane !!!!!!
he was actually down 6-2 in the tiebreaker!
This man is super human!!! Strong, fast, agile, daring, skilled…. I can watch him for hours
The problem is that he is very often in Monflis mode.
monfils is extremely atletic and energetic however, you can clearly see that djokovic controls the game and tires monfils to death. Although he has some spectacular points its impossible maintaining that endurance till the end of the match
and you clearly didnt watch until the end.. he was HURT!
what a wonderful human being!
F**K yeah Monfils, so talented and always fun to watch!
"The Prince of Tennis" live action movie.
Monfils’ best god mode performance was beating Nadal in Doha 2012
0:36 epic point
my mans in indian wells said " he IS Lightining " xD
The common point of this matchs is that after all of them he did not continue to play tennis, in 2009 it was the end of the season, in 2016 played great in Monte carlo but was injured after and did not play the rest of the clay court season including the French open. After the match against nishikori in Montreal 2017 he did not play cincinnati and had to quit at the US open 3rd round due to injury. In 2019 he beats Kholshreiber in what is for me the match of his life in terms of tennis and then he did not play the next match and even the next month due to injury and dropped the dynamic. 2020 ? I have no words for it... Match points against Djokovic for a 13th win in a row and potential back to back to back titles + being ranked number two in the race before IW, did not convert and the coronavirus came... This is the story of Monfils
Those shoots in jumps are so epic
Gael the Great/Monfils the Magnificent!!
When he actually tries he’s scary to play against
Generally he has to be more agressive, because when he does, he is really dangerous
When you put all your points into AGL but don't leave any for END
the way monfils was playing in indian wells if he hadn't gotten injured he had a real chance of winning the thing
Vs. Nishikori was amazing, this guy have talent and balls
I really idolize him when I first saw him ...his great for me
When he grunts you know you are finished.
The ultimate showman.....just wow
Gael an amazing player. Speed of a cheetah. Hands like a tiger and heart like a warrior. Respect! ✊✊💪💪😄😄
Heart like a warrior? Haha nice joke. Die he achive anythig morę than ATP 500? He is not serious player
@@czarodziejju yeah man he's got the talent and the skills to become a great player just not the attitude.
I want to watch a game like the one against Nishikori, this was NUTS
The second match against nadal at monte carlo just goes to show that you can be one of the best players in the world playing some of the best tennis of your life and still loose to nadal on clay
12:17, it really was an orgasmic shot
Her partner needs to make sure some good tennis is on during the deed 🤔
YES!!!!!!!
Just before covid, Monfils was all time in god mode, the begining 2020...
Great work with your backhand Gaël
he says monfil every time after shot😂😂😂
Francia siempre ha tenido jugadores excepcionales y monfils no es la excepcion sin duda pagaria por ver un partido de este showman del tenis
Monfils, A.K.A the first black supersaiyan.
Monfils is spectacular!
I would have loved to see him win a grand slam, however if you judges Junior and professional career he is probably one of the greatest players ever.
out of all the players, I think he is one of the most dangerous to get in the draw.
Jukka70 on his good day
Lourd frr !
These were great matches indeed but one is missing here (maybe his best match ever): 2014 davis cup final versus Federer. He was absolutely unbeatable, hitting everything 100%. I guess it's not in this video because of broadcasting rights but to me this performance tops them all.
Legend!
they should edit this montage with the super saiyan effect around Monfils, What a player.
It’s nice to see him doing well especially since he hasn’t been winning as much lately.
Love Gael Monfils, hope one day they would put his statue up somewhere in France!💥💫💥
Serious on-fire Monfils is easily top 5 material in level.
he is already 💥
I used to know him as Static Shock, he moves like electricity.
6:29 freeze it guys. take a good look at the position of the two players n the ball and look at the scoreboard. yes, monfils won the match from there !!!
Oh shit yh! Nishikori was lowkey ready to win and celebrate lol 😆
this is actually insane
My guy just scored a forehand with his left hand 5:42
He's a class act. Love him
I mean really dude is right there with Tsonga and few others that just played in the wrong era. The big 3 are just that good.
Gods in the flesh . 💪🏾
Legendary!
12:18, it sounds good 😂😂
Its so good Gael Monfils.
Headband Monfils = precision hit
Normal Monfils = speed
Grest showman, but the record 17-0 Djokovic ufff!!
right and wrong: he wins him in Challenger: Italy F4 2004 tennistonic.com/tournament/atp/2439/Italy-F4/ :)
18-0
12:27 Djokovic comments... Respect!👍✌️💯
Boom just Boom!!!
Beast!
2:32 looks out for me
What a great player Monfils
Better than boring players
That forehand against Nadal in Monte-Carlo (1-1, 40-15) is so geometrically implausible, I’ve never seen someone hit a forehand that low and hard and still have it go in. Unbelievable
Good mode would already great
Incredible
tha Dubai Match still leaves a bad taste in my mouth 'cos he should have won !
If Gael Monfils wasn’t a tennis player, he’d be a pool hustler, chess master or stunt car driver extraordinaire.
6:55 les expressions de la foule !
Amazing..
GOAT'D god mode
Dude has the talent to be the best player in history, yet, he decides not to give his very best. He's an amazing entertainer.
My idol. His speed and fantasy... the best
un monstre
When Monfils is seeing the ball well there’s not much his opponent can do about it.
12:18 ohh
Monfils is my favorite
Just Wow 🤩
Nice comment of Djokovic about Monfils. Underlines tue sportsmanship :)
Beeing in GOD for few points is not enough, he need to be a monster for the full match !
Nadal vs Monfils on a clay court? I could picture that going 8 hours LOL
That first clip seems to show that Cilic cant put away a smash to save his life
Even in God mode, Gael still can't beat Nadal on clay, he is that good
He was God mode only on the beginning of 1st set and end of second set (then lost it on a tiebreak I think). He's just not as regular as rafa
Elio Garnier he lost 6/0 in the third because he was too exhausted
@@okokilepoulet4946 ta raison
Anyway Monfils playstyle is so amazing too watch but not the Nadal one
Now he will win slam as a heart broken warrior
