    She was asked by her coaches to start furiously and told afterwards she was tired at the end and not yet used to this strategy. But as she said, it’s all part of my preparation towards Budapest.

    • @_MicZ_
      @_MicZ_ 11 місяців тому +2

      Remember that her coaches did the same (push her to go faster the first 1/3) after the Metz (France) meet for her indoor season. The next meet after that she also struggled a bit, but it resulted in the WR later, so I guess it's a good strategy from her coaches 🙂.
      As a side note, nobody is mentioning the weather, which was far from ideal this meet and caused most results to be a bit "underwhelming" ...

    Don't care what anyone else says. Bol is definitely going to win worlds. Syd is still 50/50 on whether she'll do the 400m flat or 400mh, but 400m flat is more likely.
    Since Bol also wants that 400mh WR, I'm gonna give her a very optimistic 51.3 for gold.

    • @yennox5338
      @yennox5338 11 місяців тому +2

      It pretty clear behind the scenes Sydney has chosen the 400 flat, she just doesn't want to put extra pressure on herself come the US Trials.
      When she qualifies for the flat in Eugene she'll just run it in Budapest. It might even just be a PR stunt to build hype and suspense which is smart.

      @@harrimann ..so you are assigning presumed guilt by association then. Because in that case, you really don’t have to prove anything. You can just say “oh Sydney won because the tests didn’t catch her..that’s all”….but you don’t actually have to prove she did it. This is silly though..When we saw Sydney compete as a freshman in HS she was already the best in the state. Best in the country as a sophomore. Olympics after her junior year. She's always been a phenom and it was always believed by those that paid attention that she could be the greatest 400mh of all time. Did we see her running a 50.xx? No, but its not surprising considering she was running a 56.xx in the 400mh at age 14….

      "She's not in a league of her own! We all know about Sydney." ... A league of her own doesn't have to be the same league as Sydney though, there are more leagues than just the top one. And if you've watched Femke in the DL the past 2 years, you'd know that it's very rare for another athlete to come even close to her. So maybe not top league (yet), but definitely in a league of her own ...

    Nope OP, Bol is chasing someone who is in a class of her own with a record time of 2 full seconds ahead of this time. Do you even know how far ahead is 2 seconds? I'm a Bol fan but you have to be realistic

    • @ofs82
      @ofs82 9 місяців тому

      Syd seldom runs the Diamond League though, and only runs a very small number of races while Bol is the complete opposite and probably runs too many. Bol crushes everybody on the DL and against the fields she competes in, she's very much a league of her own.
      Opinions can differ on how close people think Bol can now get to SML (after all, people love to use the WR as the yardstick and compare it to every time Femke runs, as though Sydney will run that time every time she takes the track), but it's clear that nobody else bar McLaughlin is any real opposition for Bol to run against at this point, and as long as SML is continuing to run a very limited schedule and largely in the US only, we aren't going to get many chances to see Bol in a situation where she isn't going in as the clear and obvious favourite.

    • @ofs82
      @ofs82 9 місяців тому

      She's beaten Dalilah every time they've faced since Tokyo. Runners don't run their PB times every time they take the track. We don't know how close she can get to Sydney because Syd hardly races outside the US and has had a very disrupted season this year, but McLaughlin is the last 'hurdle' left for Femke. It remains to be seen whether she'll ever get to a point where she can beat Sydney (or at least a motivated, healthy Sydney), but she's beaten everybody else in the world all ends up over and over again. Sydney likely still beats her, health/motivation permitting, sure, but when there's such a clear drop off from #2 to #3 in the world, it's a shame we don't get to see #1 race #2. I'd like to see if the gap between Syd and Femke is now smaller than the gap between Femke and everybody else.

      That's not luck, the DL in Paris was Sydney's first DL in a long time and it's quite more common to NOT race against Sydney.
      Femke raced against Sydney a total of 2 times (2021 Olympics, 2022 WC) and while you're correct that Sydney won both by a big margin, 2 times isn't exactly "as usual".
