This entire concert is special. Many of Georges family and friends paying tribute. For me the most special moment is the very end, when everyone is up on the stage, and the lovely Joe Brown (a great friend of George) plays his tiny ukulele and sings "I'll See You In My Dreams" . I just watched it before writing this, and as always - weeping - it's so beautiful.💔

@@tammieparrishmiller3669 Yes, I do believe we may indeed by soul sisters. Icki-wiki sisters - LOL, I like that. You have my respect for making it through one of my long rock history dissertations. I do tend to have a hard time editing myself. I LOVE studying the characters that made up this wonderfully interesting era of music culture. Joe Brown was an early rock&roll, folk/ east end cockney singer/guitarist, actor, and comedian. He is beloved in England for contributing more than50 yrs of entertainment on the radio and early TV in the 50's & 60'S. I'm sorry to say that I cannot help much recommending his songs as I never listened to his style of folk/rock. What I know of Joe, i have learned from reading about the life of my favorite character Steve Marriott who was very close to Joe and also another English rock pioneer - Alexis Korner. Joe's life and family are intertwined with Steve's for many years. Joe was one of Steve's best friends, Joe's wife Vicki& daughter Sam sang backup for some of Small Faces & early HP songs. Sam Brown had an amazingly powerful voice -you might have seen her singing backup on Pink Floyd's "Great Gig in the Sky & on other songs - she was the long blond haired singer between the two beautiful black singers. Sadly she damaged her vocal chords, so doesn't sing much anymore. In 1991, Vicki Brown died of cancer & Steve died in a house fire. At Steve's funeral, Joe reconnected with Steve's former partner Manon, mother of Steve's daughter, Mollie, and they ended up marrying later with George Harrison acting as best man. Mollie was just 6 when Steve died, so Joe ended up mostly raising her and she says that Dahni Harrison was a good friend so Mollie spent much time in her childhood in harrison's mansion. Mollie is now an excellent singer o her own ( I'll post a link below). So you can see how they are all connected. Thus ends the longwinded answer to your short request about Joe Brown !!!

George Harrison wrote the song. It was originally released by the Beatles. This is a tribute concert to George after his death. They are performing songs that George wrote solo and when he was with the Beatles. I believe that Eric Clapton did play on the original (Beatles) song. I heard or read somewhere that Lennon/McCartney weren't sold on this song until George asked his friend,, Eric Clapton, to contribute. When they heard it with Eric's contribution, While My Guitar Gently Weeps was included on their 'White Album'. I think it ended up being the best song on the album.

You should definitely do the original version- this song is beautiful both lyrically and musically. George Harrison is an astonishingly good writer. one of the most powerful things on the original version is GH's voice which is crying for humanity. The song is much covered - loved by guitarists for obvious reasons - i also like the version with George Harrison and Gary Moore and also Eric Clapton live with Peter Frampton. Another interesting aspect of the concert for George is the Indian musicians that take part. GH loved that music and pioneered introducing Sitar into sixties British music ( along with the Rolling Stones) - that sound became synonymous with GH. All love to the Beatles, my musical journey began with them-the white album is groundbreaking- impossible to overstate the contribution they made.

I’ve got this whole concert on DVD. It’s great from start to finish. As to your question, the Beatles songs were mostly written by Paul, George and John. So this is a Beatles song AND a George song 😉 It’s one he wrote that they played. Two people playing at this show(at least two) played on recorded Beatles songs, too. Billy Preston plays keys on the original for Get Back. He may have been with them for some live performances too. And, this song. Clapton played the guitar solo on the original Beatles version of this.

Eric Clapton actually was the lead guitarist on the original song from The Beatles. George wrote the song, but when the band was recording it, John and Paul were constantly bickering with each other, and George was unable to come up with a usable riff. He was a magnificent guitarist, one of the original Guitar Gods, but he was never good at improvisation, but very good at taking instructions, and neither of his mates were helping the process. So, he took a quick break and went to his best buddy's home and asked him to play the solo. Both John and Paul liked and respected Clapton, and George knew the two would be on their best behavior with Clapton in the studio. It worked and a classic song was produced. True story.

I see you didn't recognize RINGO STARR (of the Beatles) on drums, he was playing on the kit that was elevated, and he is wearing a burgundy embroidered jacket. When you asked "who's that" THAT is George's only child, his son DHANI. He LOOKS EXACTLY like his dad when George was a young Beatle. In Fact towards the end, Paul said it looked like we all got old and George stayed the same, or somthing to that effect (can't remember the exact. You SHOULD REACT to "SOMETHING" from this SAME concert. PAUL McCARTNEY starts singing it just playing a ukulele (George LOVED playing ukuleles and gave that one to Paul) and then it goes into the full band version. It's beautiful

He already saw it, I prefer THIS version from the Concert for George with the lead guitar being played BY ERIC CLAPTON who ALSO PLAYED it on the ORIGINAL BEATLES' track for "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" and stayed more TRUE to the original, no "showing off" as Prince did. Besides, everyone that performed at
The Concert for George, were either friends of George, or all bandmates with George through his life. Prince was never a friend or ever played with George.
