The basic framework is in the game. Since you vs this general in generals challenge then she is the most complete. The missions is heavily scripted so it allows it to work but she doesn't work in skirmish. That part wasn't completed. There were supposed to be 2 more generals, deathstrike and Ironside. They here both cut some some reference remains. In regards to the shockwave mod, it just finished what EA originally started. Based on what is there. Although it takes time to know what is suppose to go where. A side note, I was disappointed in leang. Although the is a China boss general, she used basic China units. I changed her so that she used the specific generals units like the super hacker/lotus, emporer overload and tacitcal nuke MIGs. I'm looking at ways to improve her, play a awhile and let me know if she needs tweaking

I hope artillery, thunderbolt and the gla sneak attack/bounty, then Moab, nuke chain bomb, gla tunnel and acid bomb?
I would say she is playable but not balanced. I think EAs original intention was to have 3 boss generals. my guess is to why Leang uses vanilla units is that the generals mode along with leang was added 1st and then the specific generals were added/tweaked later. hackers over black markets. personal preference. the black market upgrades are in the scud storm for what remember. i don't remember the powers but since you have to "cheat" her in you can make them whatever you want.
@@coel3572 Even with upgraded units you have issues. GLA rolls on cheap workers and ability to loot scraps to get stronger. Leang gets neither. This makes GLA units dubious in the lineup. Also, rebel ambush and tunnel are vital abilities in my opinion. Quads are easy to pick off on the go, but surprise attacking the american supply depot bags whole economy. Same deal with rebel ambushes: you get caught lacking, you get your stuff captured.

yes it can but you have quit the game and change the value in the file when ever you want to change it. Gentool makes its much easier and allows it to be "done on the fly"
As far as I know, it's a myth that you need to beat the generals challenge on hard difficultly to unlock leang. There was a further myth that you had to also do all the campaigns in hard and get gold in all the skimish level to get Ironside. There is a zero hour mod select that allows you to have a vanilla version and modded and easily swap between the 2.
as far as i know. the original, TFD and ultimate collection are compatible in multiplayer so these changes should be able to be made to all versions that being said i dont have the ultimate collection so im not sure
It is. The only think left of that is GeneralPersona 10 and 11 but the art, sounds, AI and challenge maps are missing. When I mod this game I'm only changing what is there. To do the other missing content is outta my knowledge I think the shockwave or all stars mod had that missing content

alt-tabbing (pressing the windows key) is an issue for many games of this age. there are set in full screen-exclusive. the setting you want to look for to allow alt-tabbing or pressing the window screen is fullscreen borderless. this will allow the start menu to be overlayed over the game. this should stop the crashing. i think the community patch/GenTool fixes this issue. that being said. its been a while since i did a fresh install. due to the questions ill be making a new video that will go through the entire process with the errors that you will encounter and the fixes for them.
To tell you: if u want to download any mod it will give u an error message you will need to delete the ini file that u have done and please be careful @shenz1748
I have another video that shows you how to extract the initial files but I've learnt more since then. I need to make an update video and redo the process from the start
multiplayer(local game) as in skimish. so against AI? yes the player can use her but the AI cant. im looking at other mods that already use her so i can copy the AI. as for multiplayer online, as long as all players have the same mod then she should be selectable and playable.
@@Cababs91 I found another video and downloaded Gentool. Got a shiny new control bar too which is cool :) I did end up finding a INIZH I think it was but it didn’t work after that.

Yes but you have to add the opponents within the file, or copy an existing general. Outside the scope of this video For generals challenge there are 8 missions I think
In the vanilla game there are 12 generals slots. However general 11 and 12 remain empty. The theory is that these were for the boss of the USA (Ironside) and GLA (Deathstrike). These generals have no framework to build on. So are completely up to the minds of modders. I know the contra and shockwave mod uses all 12 generals.
@@ezekellejoshuaquiocho7078 vanilla means no modifications of the official release. Although zero hour is an expansion of generals, it has a vanilla state. When official patched are releases this updates the vanilla state.
It's the same as mod. You will be able to see matches in the lobbies but there will be version mismatched. So only the people with this exact changes can make mp work.
I had created these videos in one session. I mentioned in the other video that the .ini files are extracted from the .big file using final big editor. If you take a look at that one it should be easier
here are the built-in BossGeneral Powers. there is a bug with the pathfinder and clustermines. these are normally at lv3 but are shown at lv1. you have to get level3 to unlock them. i tried adding/replacing these but to get them to appear as selectable powers i need to alter more files but i dont know what other files i need. I followed the tutorial step by step but "Boss General" isn't showing up in skirmish. When I open up the game there is a small message in the bottom left corner, saying: "Modified Game Install: Not compatible with Regular Game". Don't know what to do, can you or anybody else help me?
"Modified Game Install: Not compatible with Regular Game - this is correct when altering the INIs. this makes online multiplayer incompatible unless the other people have the same mods. to test this i have done a fresh install. what its not mentioned is that installed the TFD-1.03.rev4 before gentool but the rest of the steps are the same. the boss general should appear at the bottom of the list in skimish and hidden in north china in challenge mode.
@@Cababs91 so I tried a reinstall to. The problem is, when I try to install the TFD-1.03.rev4 it will show me that it can't complete the installation because a file is missing. Really don't know which one is missing. I extracted the files like shown in your other video. Also, it won't render my whole screen when my hight is set to 510 anymore. Thank's for the quick answer so far. And sorry if I maybe misunderstood your message or did something wrong, I'm quite new into this (modding the game etc.).
@@bluejuicy6536 which version of TFD are you using? the one I have is the original 2006 DVD. i know TFD-1.03.rev4 was made for that. i don't know if digital versions or the Ultimate collection of Zero Hour works with TFD-1.03.rev4. since i don't have those I cant test. the screen height value depends on your current screen resolution. I had to do a bit of testing to get that number. ill do another fresh install without TFD-1.03.rev4 and see what i get.
@@Cababs91 thank you! I am using the ultimate collection since I don’t have a disc drive to run the DVDs (which I own tho). I tried a newer version, I think it was 1.03? But when I was supposed to select the folder to install it in it showed me a error message telling me to select the folder in which my game is installed which I did but as you might guess, it didn’t work…

The lacking abilities you described are not issues lol. Just things that lack and you dont need. Instant t2 units is game breaking

By default it is supposed to be empty. You need to extract the inizh.big file with the big editor to edit those files

I opened the data/INI folder but it doesnt show all the files. I cant see ChallengeMode :(
