I’ve watching this game for over 45 years and Tiger is absolutely the Greatest. Even though he doesn’t have the record for majors what he’s done and how he did it will never be duplicated.
I don't think he has the W's record yet either right??? I know he got 1 step closer to Jack Nicklaus with Majors in 2019 with that absolutely incredibe, amazing, awe inspiring Win @The Masters in Augusta
@@markprice2225 he has the win record of 82 but he’s #2 in majors 15. I agree tiger is the greatest of all time, I’ve been completely obsessed with this game for 30+ years playing better than scratch for 20+ yrs. I love watching all the old tournaments, I’ve seen everything available on tiger woods and jack Nicklaus. Just saying these things so you know I’m extremely knowledgeable with golf and my opinion is tiger is the goat. Mostly because the field was deeper for a majority of tigers wins, jack had less competition.
We all have to admit, Tiger Woods changed the game of golf to a new level. Many of us sat to watch 4 hrs or so during the weekend to see his game, as he continues to challenge himself and inspire those who are inclined to play the game with so much will and enthusiasm .
@@Matt-cr4vv don’t underestimate the role of the “better than most” putt in creating the legacy of that hole. Before 2001 it was kind of a gimmicky fun-but-dangerous hole, a bit of a novelty, probably best known for the Steve Lowry seagull incident. This made it known as a hole where real drama could occur, and after Craig Perks’ insane finish on 16-17-18 the year after this, the entire three hole finish became widely-known as one of the most dramatic on tour, with the island green at 17 as the centerpiece of course.
Tiger is a golf ace, his 20-year-old golf course and to this day 40 and + he has gained everything by hard work of perseverance and rigor he is the one who embodies the hero of young golfers, becoming disadvantaged neighborhoods, c is a perfectionist who thinks that to win, competition is his spearhead win has taken everything bravo tiger
I always love how the dudes commentating say "that's a bad shot" when Tiger is literally at this point in his career already established as the #1 golfer(In the world)... proceeds to win the tournament(and roughly 65 more)... If he had not double bogeyed those 2 holes in the first round he's up by 8 strokes going into the 4th. Yeah. He must hit "bad shots". 👎 If your not as good as Tiger you don't have the say if his shots are bad. He still won. Against the best of the best. Your calling the best golfer in the world shots bad from a tent knowing damn well you would never shoot under par in a single 9 hole stretch???
Yeah most people tend to forget that The Players is basically a major. All of the players consider it the “5th major”. However, I read an article that Rory went to visit Tiger at his house recently and he went into his trophy room and the only trophies he had displayed were his 15 majors. Rory asked him where all the other ones were and Tiger told him he had no idea. They’re just scattered around. Some have maybe been auctioned off, some stay at the course that hosts the tournament, maybe some are at his foundation, I think his mom has some…I’m pretty sure she has his 3 U.S. Amateur trophies actually. So, who knows where the 2001 Players trophy is. Basically Tiger only cared about majors. He liked to win and probably hated to lose even more than he liked to win, so I’m sure he enjoyed winning all those lesser tournaments, but certainly not enough to even keep the trophies. He doesn’t have any of his Vardon trophies, or player of the year trophies either. Only the 15 majors.

@@adamadam-tp6hh From 1999 to 2009, Tiger had something like 33% win rate... that just does not happen in a sport. Especially not golf. Not even Jack comes close to that!
It was interesting how the commentator asked that we watch Phil's putt on 17 as a sort of yardstick to measure Tigers great putt; seemingly discounting any notion that Phil would birdie too.

Loved watching the rivalry between Vijay and Tiger. This was an absolute classic!
The "better than most" putt sums up Tiger at his best perfectly, he could make PGA Tour events feel like majors.

True, but many also refer to the Players as golf's fifth major and it was on one of the most iconic holes in the USA so that's a big part of it too.

Is Kelly's shirt sponsored by Pioneer? The same company that makes DJ turntables and controllers?
Yes, but they make a lot more than just DJ equipment, they even made televisions back then.
Vijay was really the only one that wasn't afraid of Tiger. He just wasn't as good, and I mean that respectfully.
