    Maybe set up a strict budget for groceries and eating out/drinks for the next couple months and only use cash. When the cash is gone that’s it. It’s so easy to overspend using credit cards. I learned my lesson on that. Love your videos!

    I mean this with all the love in the world because of all of the “send helps” that came out in your video. When my husband and I were saving for our wedding our “fun” and “going out” was spent very wisely due to planning the biggest fun event which is the wedding. If you’re committing to a personal trainer for the wedding, great! But that comes with sacrifices elsewhere. Eating Out and Groceries have been wildly overspent within the last 3-4 months and that’s quickly becoming a habit. Plan your grocery runs before you leave. Make sure everything you need is on a list for the week, and stop making so many trips throughout the two weeks. That’s a major reason to overspend when you have to keep coming back for “one more thing.”
    This is ALL to say, you’ve gotten out of debt before and spent Intentionally to get there. I think it’s time to bring the intention back. ❤ You’ve got this girl!

    • @IntentionalLivingYT

      @@ancarter17 the intention hasn’t left (let’s be VERY clear). Most of this is managing having Colin involved in the picture and I don’t control him. I definitely see your advice tho and I hear you. Y’all just only see 1/2 the picture and no one knows the convos we have & his spending/things he’s working through because he’s never budgeted before

    I would suggest giving your spending envelopes a bit more and x the combined eating out and drinks envelopes, each of you get for example $200 for the week and you each manage that. It might be helpful to curb the overspending.

  • @budgetwithmi
    @budgetwithmi 2 дні тому +2

    Some helpful suggestions to your send helps lol. So I noticed you guys are eating out and grocery shopping on the same days or within the same couple of days. That contributes to a lot of the overspending. What I do is I think of meals I wants to cook over the next 1-2 weeks and I grocery shop based on that. factor in breakfast, lunch and dinner meals. If you eat leftovers, that’s perfect for lunch meals for the next day. We use to eat out multiple times a day (family of 4) and you spend about the same I use to spend daily. It’s easy to get something fast but then you’re double spending by going to the grocery store.
    Another suggestion, I’m sure you got the personal trainer to help with your wedding coming up, but I watched your 75 hard and felt you did so good on your own. It’s such a big expense when your saving for your wedding already and overspending on other categories.
    Last one I promise lol, I’m also a credit card spending and have found I spend wayyyy more because im about to swipe and worry about it later. Maybe try it out for one month, only spending cash and when the money is gone thats it. I need to follow my own advice on that cause I spent sooo much last month it’s a shame. Hopefully this helps out with your budget, you still have a great amount saved in most of your categories, I’d just readjust some things

    I have come to appreciate the way you do your unstuffings. I’m not gonna lie, I do think that one reason your finances are feeling so tight these days is that you’ve spent a lot of money on personal training this year that was spent/committed before you had the funds. Catching up on those significant costs meant you couldn’t stuff savings categories and it’s a cascade effect. Once you’ve saved for the large November training payment, you’ll need to save $100 or so per week rather than the $400 per week you’re allocating to training now.

  • @sarahkretsinger5298
    @sarahkretsinger5298 2 дні тому +6

    I think if there is over spending then the $1 challenge does not exist - they go to help with the negative amounts. And I am sure you have enough $1 in the big bag that you can “find” to help with the negative amounts so you can start building back up your envelopes.
    My other advice is you don’t need new outfits for everything with your wedding. Yes it’s fun and cute but a new outfit for wedding shower and new outfit for rehearsal dinner is a bit much. A bride shirt and groom shirt can be found on a good budget and should be fine.

    We all know you don't want the advice but you know we are going to give it anyways. So here are my suggestions (1) you and Colin sit down and talk about your electronics envelope other than his apple watch which your hoping to buy with black friday could you take the $400 out and reallocate that to your negative amounts.
    (2) i think you and Colin need to sit down with the trackers and really look through your spending since combining incomes (3) i am not at the level you are in the budgeting during but while I am in debt what we are focusing on is pulling cash that we don't touch into envelopes for our spending my goal is to get our spending cash to at least $500. If you can get to this then you could combine drinks and eatting out to just a you and colin envelope when you are together and then things like work lunchs or grabbing starbucks would come out of each of your spendings if that makes sense. Your fall savings challenge and your $1.00 challenge at the end of the year could help you start this for next year. (4) you may have to start weekly cash unstuffings to help keep you guys on track.

We eat a high protein, healthy carb diet and we dont even spend your restaurant food budget per week on groceries, let alone your $200 - $300 a week budget for groceries plus the other 3. LOL Ive always thought that, not just this month when you had unexpected things pop up, but you are a pretty high wage earner so I didnt think much about it. But for the last several months Ive felt like you have been playing catch up and rob Peter to pay Paul. Its a slippery slope for most.
