To program your HomeLink system to your Genie garage door opener, there is no need to put the Genie remote to program mode (red and green light). Also make sure to press the homelink button 3 times (2 seconds each), to program it.

Great video! I was finally able to program 2 of my vehicles in a matter of minutes after watching your video. I wonder why the technical writers that write the owners manuals for both the garage door opener and the car manufactures could not write such simple, straight forward, and easy to understand procedures. I had seen what I thought was conflicting methods for programing. I first tried using the remote to program holding both at the same time... that didn't work, so i reset the buttons and tried from the motor "learn" button, that didn't work either. It was only after watching your video that I realized I needed to do both the remote programming first, then the learning from the motor part directly after, and like magic, now it suddenly works! I've probably tried that 3-4 different times over the years, and never been able to get it to work, and now it finally WORKS!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! Just follow each and every step in this video and you're golden!

Thanks so much. This worked with our Genie opener and Toyota Homelink. I guess the process clones the remote, but the opener needs to be in programming mode to pair the new remote with it.
