Thank u, Kate, for slicing exotic jaspers 15 ways to Sunday, teaching and videoing about it. That classifies as a supervideo, about a 9 on the Moh's scale. 🥳
I love Jaspers. They have such vibrant color and patterns. My favorite is the Sunset Jasper from Idaho! What a show!
@@KatyDidRocks I really love it! The Jaspers just do not disappoint with their colors!
I love them both, but I love jasper better too. Both have their special beauties, but I guess it’s whatever tickles our fancy most.😊
I guess you convince me I love jasper the best, beautiful jaspers.blessings
Wow! I knew nothing of the incredible beauty and variety of jasper a year ago. Thanks so much for the education. Wow!
Thank you for my education on jaspers I didn’t know that mookaite is made from tiny fossils 😮 and the kambaba jasper is not and to see a recently discovered jasper enjoyed myself immensely 😊
Those jaspers outdid themselves today. And your lovely descriptions. Outstanding video all round.
❤ your comments on the different jaspers. Many years ago, 1960's- 1990's cut-polished a variety of the jaspers that you talked about in this video. I also ❤ jaspers. The tiger-iron you showed reminded me of a slab I had that when I let my imagination loose, I saw 'tall buildings' in a landscape & so cut a couple to represent that. Jaspers let our imaginations roam, more so than agates, with the exception of Montana moss agates which can create a visual picture. I know because I cut-polished one, on both sides, over 50 years ago.
Got chills listening to you talk about the history and formation of these, especially the mookaite originating from those tiny sea creatures! It’s incredible how many specific conditions have to be in place to create this beautiful jasper
Beautiful jaspers. Thank you for sharing these glimpses into the wonders of our mineral world.
This is my first--or second--time on your site, and you are great. I love the samples you show us, and I especially like the history you give about these. This adds another layer of information. Fantastic!
Man,those are pretty!!!Thank you for sharing these with us!
Wonderful video, jaspers are so beautiful and all so different. Thanks for the world tour!
Nice overview…Love that you included the history and locations they are found. About 2 years ago I picked up some material from Casey Santee and most of it polished up wonderfully.
Jasperlicious! I love jasper too, especially the turquoise one you find in Montana. Great description for each rocks Katy, thanks 😍
Hi Katy, jasper is my favourite , the colours and patterns call to me. I would love to be able to find myself some . Thank you so much for cutting and showing us so many varieties. X❤
Jasper is at the top of my list too. You showed us so many beautiful ones today. Thank You! ❤❤
Hi, lovely pieces you have displayed. I have found a few years ago a yellow poppy jasper. Very beautiful.
Jaspers are gorgeous, love all the color combinations. Great video for high water time. Thanks.
Hi Katy!!! OMG. I have been so busy cutting and rock hounding. I have a few videos now, but we will see how I give them a twist. I hope you and Jim are well, happy and feeling safe. Jasper is my favorite.
WOW Katy, welcome to my world, I am so glad you admitted that, but, I can see the beauty in Agats and petrified wood etc too, and I know you doThat snakeskin Jasper from Australia was special and beautiful.....and the colors and patterns in all of them, very interesting. at 3.00, looked liker marble, loved it, I loved most of those Jaspers. Thank you Katy.
I'm naming my next dog Jasper!
That looks like a bit of Lake Superior behind you.
Interesting. Thank you for showing the different types of jasper. They are all beautiful.
Recently I have discovered the rock hounding community and I feel like I'm coming home.....I have been picking up interesting rocks for a few years and now I'm getting the itch to tumble, polish, carve and show my pet rocks 😂. Thank you for your video 🤍
Ok. This one is so good I'm watching again! Great info and cool cutting!
Jasper's are so pretty! I didn't realize their were so many different kinds.
Thank you KatyDid for going through all these and providing this very useful information about these wonderful jaspers. I learned a lot and captured a few notes of several that I would like to purchase.
Old Disabled House Bound Dusty Rusty Rockhound here: Fabulous video! So much color. Visions of statement pieces of jewelry danced in my head!
I just ordered some rocks from Australia as a matter of fact there sitting in my post office I have to pick them up tomorrow!!!
I ordered them from prospector Paul he showed them on a video before I ordered them I believe there going to be awesome!!
Beautiful jasper!
Mookite, the name is fun to. I have made some jewelry with it before.
Super, duper, awesome! Wow!
The Fruit Jasper was so cool. All those colors! I liked the Kambaba Jasper and the new jasper out of Idaho. Thank you for sharing all those beautiful rocks with us. I bet it took quite awhile to make this video what with all the rock cutting and then editing the video.
Thank you, Malinda! Yes, it did actually take some time - I'm glad you appreciate it. :)
That was very interesting. I was hoping for an education on the several Jaspers found by Lake Superior.
Hey there! Sorry to disappoint - there are an incredible number of jaspers in the world. 😊
Thanks for solving a mystery for me I now know that I have a piece of Kambaba Jasper ! Great video !
I love your educational, beautiful videos❤
👍The deep red Jasper of the Pugit Sound, Washington is quite nice as well as the orbicular red Jasper. The Picture Jasper of Oregon is also quite nice.
Gregory, I'm not sure what the deep red jasper is that you're referring to - but the PNW does have some pretty awesome rocks!
Thank you Katie that was interesting. Australia 😊
I too enjoy jaspers. Wild horse and king cobra. I have some purple king cobra. Its beautiful!
I live in Olympic national park is Washington state right on a river lucky enough its filled with jasper.Poppy/Orbicular being my favorite type!
I live on Bainbridge Island and pick up all kinds of red Jasper on the beaches here.
What an informative video and the jaspers are totally beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing.
What a wonderful and informative video❤omg how gorgeous jaspers are❤❤👋🇫🇮
I definitely learned something here! Great video, Kate! I'm a Jasper lover as well!
Funny I watch Prospector Paul (from Australia) as he collects, cuts and polishes alot of jaspers - not sure if these are his but I love the Aussie Jaspers. Also gotta say that I was very impressed with your talking about the Aboriginal legend surrounding the snakeskin jasper - very respectful. Wow so many different types of jasper. Because I'm so new to rockhounding I thought they only came in red, yellow and green until recently haha - I used to only pick up the pieces that were all jasper thinking that those that had chalcedony or inclusions were no good...sigh if only those jaspers had waited for me to learn more...
Thank you for sharing and educating all of us on jasper. Jasper is definitely my second fav rock. They are all beautiful! I'm drawn to that Biggs jasper. The dendritic formations are so cool. Royal Imperial Jasper has to be my favorite still, but now that jaspagate at the end is a close second. All just incredible though! 🤩
Hi Kate! I’m catching up on your videos. You should look into getting some munjina(sp?) from Australia. It looks like a cross between Noreena and Mookaite!
Yes! I love the jaspers too❤ Have you seen Rainforest Jasper? Very beautiful stuff.
This was so interesting; thanks! I collect unusual-looking rocks right on my son's property here in the SW part of The Big Mitten and try to identify them. I suspect that some of my favorites are jasper so look for all the help I can find to ID my collection. This is some sort of pocket of a vast variety of stones that are 'supposed' to be in Canada and the UP! Lots of coral fossils too and 4 'stone' clam shells. Sheesh, this rock-picking thing is SO addictive.
Yup, the snakeskin jasper turned the oil in my saw brick red.🤨
Serape jasper was my guess as well.
You can find red orbicular jasper in Washington State on the Olympic Peninsula. Currently Rockhounding has a video of his trip to the Skokomish River where he found some nice chunks.
Leopardskin jasper is really a rhyolite , which is why it's softer than normal jasper...which leads to a mini-rant. A lot of material is called jasper when it isn't. Stop it! I'd tired of getting soft material that won't polish worth a darn.
I gotta get some of that Royal Jasper.
The Noreena is just gorgeous, isn't it?😀
Well I have all those except royal and the sunset. I gotta work on that. Lol. I love jaspers! Nice video Kate.
There are so many more! I picked up some Gary Green and Blue Mountain this summer that I can't wait to cut.
@@KatyDidRocks I have a bunch more myself. There’s so many beautiful varieties. You’re so lucky to have beautiful jaspers there. None close to me.
Katy i like jasper better than agate too!
Thanks, Katie. I learn a lot from you. My question is-how do you determine which side you will cut?
Sometimes it's all about how it will fit in the saw. :D But I do consider the pattern on the outside, to see if there is an obvious color I want.
Magnet Cove AR. Is so named because we have so many minerals. I have an " inactive " volcano in my yard . We attract lightning. We have found dead deer and squirrels in our yard after a storm also many times property damage . Lightening struck my car , the well pump, many phones.
I have it and I'm in arkanses
I’ve just started looking at jewelry making sites and I’m always attracted to the jasper beads. From your video I now know why they are so beautiful. Thank you. I’d love to see some of the Lake Superior jasper because I’m from Michigan 😊. Do you know how jasper is made into beads- another curiosity for me. Thanks again💕
Hey there! Sorry, I have very limited knowledge of bead-making - but I'd love to know more!
Can you reccomend some books, sites etc that detail more about these different varieties of jasper?
Books are few and far between! One really good one is Agates and Jaspers of the United States. As far as websites, I just typed the kind of jasper into the search bar, and then sifted through to find the ones that didn't sound like they were selling something. :) It's pretty easy to tell if info is good or hype.
That first jasper reminds me of bacon!
Hay How about tell Rob about that stone that you can find in Michigan he probably doesn't know about it or he may know and may not like it.
Me too and ryolite 🩵🩵
Got to say Katie....You look really great today! You always look happy, but you have an extra sparkle today ☺️
We always love your channel, family and friends
Thank you. :) I am happy you like it.
