    I always love watching Bill Alexander's programs even while I can't paint a lick myself because the whole time he's painting along he's also giving the viewer a philosophy for living. That whole section speaking about the satisfaction of creating something that outlive the creator is classic Bill Alexander.

    No one has ever done more on canvas with a huge brush than Bill. His pine trees are amazing and he always uses the huge brush instead of a fan brush, but you wouldn’t know it once he’s done. He was a gift.

      Not just that but it's important to see a different perspective. I love Ross' style but it's still one style and to develop your own style you need to see other ways of doing the same thing so you can find one that works for you.
      Bill here makes a mountain in a way that's a little different from Bob and I like that. When we learn to do something new we can become a little obsessed with trying to do it in the exact same way as the person who taught us and maybe that style isn't the best one for you.

      If Bob Ross is already dead, then Bill Alexander is dead.
      Bob painted pictures worth of 403 total episodes, and Bill painted tons of pictures that weren’t as detailed or scheduled as how Bob Ross did his instructions.

    I have recently started painting after my retirement.....keeps me away from ugly thoughts and depression. However, to start with, I didn't know what acrylic was and what oil was. As I watch videos and try to learn, I have come to the conclusion that oil gives a lot of freedom, as against acrylics. What can I do with the acrylic paint that I have purchased?

    • @AAlexanderArt
      @AAlexanderArt  6 місяців тому +1

      Some of our artists use acrylic to prime their canvas. They let the paint dry and then paint over it in oils. We have workshops that can get you painting well in no time. Let me know if you are interested and I’ll post a link so you can check them out.

    Bob Ross is a cheap imitation of an artist and a human being.
    This man we are watching is a humble ,open-hearted man. All he ever wanted to do was teach us the magic in what is out there for us to paint. Open your eyes and paint what YOU see. And you can fire it in from your own heart and Mr. Alexander's legacy will go on. I adore him and so grateful for what he taught me and continues to do.

    Bill Alexander’s real name is William
    Since he is already dead, there might be some future guy named Billie Burrs-President.
    It’s just that I will name my 1st-born child William if it’s a boy.
    If so, his middle name will be Alexander which is my first name.

    The one and true 'Happy Painter'. Such a pity the ripoff hack student got all the credit and glory. Bill's PBS shows in the 80s were one of few reasons my family could stand being in the same room at the same time. Those of us who know the truth miss you greatly.
