- This summer, we filmed a Persian wedding. It was a great experience to see how different the traditions are from American weddings. Saman and Elnaz were a great couple to work with and this is a fun clip from the Knife Dance before the cake cutting.
Persian Wedding Knife Dance - It is a custom for Persian weddings to have a knife dance before the cake cutting. Guests take turns stealing the knife and teasing the groom to collect ransom money. When enough money is collected, the knife dance is over and the bride and groom are free to cut the cake.
The bride looks so beautiful with that smile on her face 😍
We were blessed with a Persian wedding in Petersfield UK, I loved the knife dance, loved the whole event, so stylish!

Guests (usually single young ladies) will dance with the knife to tease the couple who want to cut their wedding cake and groom has to give them money inorder get the knife back lol it's just for fun like smashing the cake on each other faces that other cultures do 😅

People usually keep it. It's his way of earning the knife. they keep the money and don't give the knife back because they don't feel he has given enough yet. It's really fun and it involves the whole family of the bride usually to coax as much money as possible as a game.
The kids all dove on it haha. They took most of it in the end.
