- Hi Folks. Having owned and Towed with the Audi A6 Avant for almost 2 years. I thought I would share my thoughts on the Car and what is like at towing. Thanks Phil.

Hi Phil + Juliet, Firstly, thank you for the very informative videos posted to your UA-cam channel " lost weekends" - even after 20 years of towing both in the UK and abroad I continue to find helpful information on your site.
However, I have somehow failed to find an update regarding which vehicle you finally decided upon to replace the Audi Avant A6 ref your post of 1 year ago.
I am in need of changing my existing tow vehicle and as you clearly explained re: getting the right car and specification to meet your requirements is proving itself for me to be something of a minefield! Lol 😂.
When time permits could you please offer me some guidance as to what you eventually chose, vehicle type and model. Automatic / diesel / power bhp etc..

Really like Audis, A6 is great so nice to drive , my boy had one with the 3.0l engine absolutely a great car , understand your reason for selling , I’m sure you will miss it but hopefully your replacement will be just as good 👍

You’ve got a well looked after car there Phil 👍 and it’s a shame you have to part with it. I think you know I like my Audi A6 allroad 3.0. Had it nine & half years and never had any towing problems at all although had to cancel two holidays this year due to suspension fault which is now fixed. Like you say, spacious, comfortable, well built interior with a quality feel. I use the built in sat nav and in settings have it on ‘econ’ rather than ‘fastest’ or ‘shortest’ as econ is generally main roads. I’m watching this space for your new car announcement. Hi Rob Yep sad days ahead. I just could never get on with the Sat Nav. I prefer my Tom Tom Camper. Deposit paid on replacement😉. thanks Phil🙂👍
It's a very handsome looking car but there's no point of buying it if Juliet is struggling to get in it.
I think at one time Skoda had to include extras as standard to encourage customers to switch to the brand.
But as we all know, the brand is really good so the group don't have to work so hard.

Audi's are generally really good for towing. I use an auto all-road (A4). I prefer the height and 4-wheel drive- great on lumpy ground, and the motor holds its value. Very comfortable too.

I tow with a Seat Tarraco 2.0tdi DSG which is a VW Tiguan with more value for money well worth a look.

Am same Phil like the Audis, l tow with a q7, fab car loads of power, tow a twin wheel caravan, prob a Q5 be good for you and high enough for your Mrs to get in and out

Hi Rob. I have thought about a Q5 but at present the used Prices are way too much for my budget plus they are quite old models with high mileage. It will be a VAG Car though as no one is making Diesels these days. Thanks Phil🙂👍

I tow a Hymer Nova 470 single axle with a mtpla of 1450kg , miro 1180kg 'not exceptionally heavy' and well within the towing weight ratios of my 2019 Kia Sportage S line, automatic 1.6 ltr petrol engine.
Over the past 4 years towing has generally been excellent, especially on the motorways. However, the gearing has failed me on hillier climbs and the car keeps itself in higher gears at inapropriate times! All rather un-nerving when you then have a stream of cars behind, the transmission temp has risen - quite a strain on the engine Me and my good Wife...
Yes, I still regret trading my earlier Kia Sportage 2 ltr Diesel for a shinier model but life moves on..
I am presently concidering either a Skoda Karoque or a VW Tiguan - as to which varient Iam unsure and am yet to be convinced by the sales persons.
I would be most appreciative for feedback re: tow vehicle choice from yourself and others subscribed to your site. Info re Pulling power for them there hills, and hopefully alongside some car creature comforts to boot - thanks in advance - Michael..

Just picked the 3ltr quattro, used to tow with a discovery 3 but reliability issues and running costs forced my hand, hopefully the a6 will do the job! Would you say not having the air suspension would make much of a difference?
Hi Gavin. The A6 is a lovely car. The suspension is a little firm but it will tow like a train. I understand the discos have electrical problems. With a a6 just keep it serviced and it will be fine. Thanks Phil 👍🙂
@@lostweekendscaravan yep the disco had many problems, some simple and some really hard to find the root cause. hoping to get a tow bar fitted soon and take it out for a tow 🤣

Also looking at the a6 all road 3.0L or the 2.0L sport estate but confused 're what they can't tow, I have 1800kg elddis 840 will they be a good tow?
i tow a elddis super cyclone with a 3ltr a6 allroad and it tows it with ease (272hp) set the cruise control and sit back lol.@@luciocancellara4995
