Don't blame them. You should blame the government that approved the plots for them.

Nigerian administrators need to learn not to engage with prpoerty owners once a decision is taken. There is no point and it gives them false hope. The lawlessness and audacity of Nigerian developers is something that needs to be studied. There needs to be a follow through with prosecution and jailing of these developers.

This is very sad! I also believe the first priority should be clearing the canal before demolishing the houses. I've seen some houses that are not on the canal being brought down indiscriminately. Please avoid making irrational decisions that will traumatize the people and lead to premature deaths. Those properties that are not obstructing the canal should not be demolished. If the owners of properties on the canal have valid approvals to build there, they should be compensated. As for those without approvals, the government should hold the developer accountable, rather than leaving the people to fend for themselves.

My question is where was the agency in charge of building and environmental design when all these shenanigans were going on? Same agency were giving unnecessary building approval and now you’re now demolishing them. We’re always putting the cart before the horse.

My advice is that LASG should fine the owners cost of demolition, and sue them in court for possible jail term.

Also, LASG needs to pass social media laws. Those UA-cam channels make LASG looks wicked and inconsiderate, whereas they are doing the right thing. Some of them were actually paid to FORCE LASG to stop the demolition. LASG cannot keep ignoring social media.

Also, if a land is unused, government can insert PILLARS like a design to prevent people using the land

LASG need to pass social media laws that prevent spreading false information about government programs or policies. LASG should require anyone that wants to cover LASG programs on social media to register (just like the regular press) Some of the social media channels were hired by property owners to blackmail LASG during the demolition and make it look like the government is oppressing them. Social media has DAMAGED LASG more than they realize.

The Govt should make all the owners of these properties pay for the Demolition and clean up costs barring which they are never to be issued a permit in the State for anything until the full costs is paid ....this is an unnecessary costs being incurred by the Govt as a result of wilful disregard
