    Great run!l to watch and I always love how adjusting the experience for no-missing changes many aspects of the approach. Stage 4 is one I love as well. I also really enjoy stage 5's music and pacing. Thanks for sharing!

      Thanks for checking it out! And yes, it really changes the experience when you can't just rely on using up all of your resources. Suddenly you need to figure out every part of the game and be able to consistently get through them.
      It's interesting to compare this run to the only other no miss clear I have done, which was for Daioujou Black Label (first loop only). There I really needed to have a firm route with each bomb carefully planned out. With Mushi it was more about executing fast dodges and reaction bombing when needed. I guess going for a no miss amplified the differences between the games, in a way.

    Good run! I never managed to clear Mushi last year when I was concentrating on it more specifically, let alone get a no-miss. You're right about the score bonus, though! That's ridiculous how much of a boost it gives you. I need to go back to Mushi and really finish my journey with Original. I think I was focused too hard on getting the no-miss through stage 3, and kept getting tripped up there, so I never truly progressed. Had I just played through more credits and focused more on learning stage 4, maybe I could have got the win.

    • @hazylevels
      @hazylevels  Рік тому +4

      Yeah, that's a trap I often fall in, too, and it even kinda happened with this run. If I had done more practice on stage 5 before attempting full runs, this clear would probably have been both easier and more fun.
      I would definitely recommend not worrying too much about no-missing when going for your first clear. With Mushi, there's always the possibility of just dying to some random popcorn enemy that snipes you low on the screen. In my first 1CC of the game, I died in stage 2 and almost quite there. Turns out, just rolling with the mistakes can pay off :)
      Btw, I appreciate your work on Shoot the Core-Cast! Always nice to have deep dives on individual shmups.

      I appreciate the interest, but my main setup is pretty minimal, just a small pc and a PS4 that feed into a single 24 monitor. I also have a couple CRTs for use with retro and fpga consoles, but that stuff is often tucked away for space reasons. I'll keep your request in mind if I end up with a more varied setup at some point :)

      Thanks! I've only played Futari Black Label, but that one was a lot easier to clear for me, too. Mushi 1 is just very unforgiving with all the fast bullets, often I don't even realize what hit me 😵‍💫 DFK arranges is something I haven't explored yet, I'll need to check them out at some point!

      Todellakin, novicet on tohon ehdottoman hyviä! Niissä on vaan tosi paljon heittoa. Esim Mushi ja Resurrection on tältä osin onnistuneita, mutta Galudassa helppo ei imo valmista tarpeeksi arcadeen. Siksi kyselin. Crimzon Clover Novice kannattaa muuten tsekkaa kans, jos Caven tyyli miellyttää!

    Great run! Surprised to hear you say you don't like stage 3 as its one of my favourite stages in any shmup! 1 thing you might already know, at 6:48 (and the equivalent part on the other side) there is actually a second part next to the "main" part that you can destroy quicker that will also give you a bullet cancel. That to me always makes destroying the main part easier as half its bullets get cancelled (plus you get a bit more score). You can see it at around 10:10 in this video ua-cam.com/video/ORR5SJ4Gag0/v-deo.html

    • @hazylevels
      @hazylevels  11 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for the tip, I did not know about that! From what I've heard, stage 3 seems to be one that people seem to either really like or find it somewhat tiresome. I do think it has cool sections and enemy waves, it's just not my fave.

  • @blazinglazers69
    @blazinglazers69 Рік тому

    What do you think is the easiest Cave game to clear? I wanna try to get a 1cc for one of them next year. I did get it for Deathsmiles awhile back so preferably not that one.

    • @hazylevels
      @hazylevels  Рік тому +3

      Dodonpachi Resurrection with Strong Style ship might be worth trying, because you have lots of autobombs and can cancel bullets with hypers. So it's like playing a regular Cave game but you need to dodge a lot less of the stuff. Personally, I recall Mushi Futari Black Label (Original Mode) taking me the least time to clear, but Resurrection gives the player the biggest safety net.
      This is a tough question, as even the easier ones are all challenging in different ways. So maybe experiment and see what fits your skills the best? Deathsmiles is probably the easiest of the ones I've played, but if you've beaten that, you already have some danmaku skills built up :)

    • @blazinglazers69
      @blazinglazers69 Рік тому +1

      @@hazylevels Thank you. I always feel like I'm cheating with autobombs, but hey if I need those training wheels to progress I'll suck it up and give it a shot. Thanks for the advice. Might try some Touhou too since the bullets are so slow.

    • @hazylevels
      @hazylevels  Рік тому +1

      There's no shame in using the tools that the game readily gives you, especially when you're playing something like Resurrection stage 5 :) I've heard a lot of good things about Touhou as an entryway into danmaku, I need to check it out at some point too. Good luck with whatever you end up playing!

    • @fefor
      @fefor Рік тому +1

      @@blazinglazers69 Touhou is indeed a good way to get into danmaku games, you have several entries on the series to choose from and most importantly they all have difficulty settings, so you can play either easy, normal, hard or lunatic. They also all feature amazing music that you'll probably end up listening to outside of the game ; )
      As for your initial question on beginner friendly Cave games I just wanted to chime in and say that you could try giving Espgaluda a shot, in my opinion most of the difficulty for a 1cc on that game comes from the final boss but the previous stages aren't extremely hard, it has a mechanic where you can slow down bullets (which you'll also be using this mechanic to cancel bullets on screen and score to get extends, but it's fun and intuitive) and it also has a bomb meter which you get to choose how much of it you'll use.
      Lastly the Steam version of Mushihimesama is another good option for a first Cave 1cc, plus the steam version of this game is awesome: it has practice and novice modes available for you to choose on the main menu, as well as cool features such as the replays and the arrange modes and music. Absolute banger of a game.
      I'd suggest try them all and stick to whichever you enjoyed the most, whether it's for its gameplay or the aesthetics, don't worry too much about the difficulty and don't be afraid to try other Cave games that might be considered harder or not, the clear will come to you sooner or later.

      The easiest Cave shmup is Espgaluda II. They made it to bring newcomers into the genre. It was my first 1cc but I always prefer the black label version.
