    I had a toe biter in my pool as a kid, I cornered it and it bit my hand. I know that pain, and it’s terrible. I also got stung by a cicada killer as a kid, sent my hand numb and HURT

      @@chrisastley7696 I know the kind of pain OP's talking about. It's more like a numbness caused by such intense pain that other sensations are drowned out by it or not as noticeable; you only feel the pain. I got stung by one of the giant red ants we have here in Southern Arizona. It felt like my toe was being cut open at first, and then clamped and twisted by red hot pliers. It burned and stung and throbbed with pain. My toe couldn't feel anything BUT that horrible pain. I was a young kid, but right after that ant stung me I filled that nest with oxyacetylene and blew it sky high. I was so angry. 😸 I have never gotten stung again though. I give them more distance and any nests on my property get a nice serving of Amdro.

    When I was a landscaper. My partner & I was cleaning out a mulch bed with a tree in the middle of it. As we was cleaning out the bed. I felt a sharp pain on the back of my neck. I grabbed whatever it was and threw it to the ground realizing it was a bald face hornet. It had stung me in the back of my neck. We looked at the tree and seen the partially hidden nest before a swarm starting coming out after us. We took off away from the swarm, but that was the most painful insect experiment I ever had

    good. friend, please tell me where to collect aquatic/terestrial fireflies larva, and how to rear it by myself... do yo have any rearing tutorial video?

      @InsectHunter  7 років тому +3

      One of my friends once reared some firefly larvae. We caught them in pitfall traps. Perhaps I can make a pitfall trap video soon. Once we captured them we fed them earthworms and they really liked eating them. Thanks for the question. The area I live in right now doesn't have fire fly larvae, but I will try and make a pitfall trap video.

    I have bugs living on my head, under my scalp, some form of hexapod, proturan or springtail, I have killed some with UV lights 55watt and made one jump out of my head by adding gasoline to a hot bath... obviously no one wants parasites on their body... They excrete their young when I rest my head, and whatever I put my head on ends up full of them. I don't know what to do. I've tried lice treatments, I add vinegar to salicylic acid shampoo, I've used rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, betadine. they live comfortably on my head and they wont leave... they do make holes that look like pimples (painful). I used a sonic insect repellant once it just made them burrow deeper (rather than leave my head). I know this is unsual, but I am more susceptible than most to all parasitic insects (fleas, ticks, etc)

    • @InsectHunter
      @InsectHunter  4 роки тому

      I would talk to your medical doctor about getting some help. I am sorry I can't be of much service. If you can capture a specimen and preserve it in some alcohol then show it to an extension agent or similar proffesional in your area. If you are in the US almost every county has a presence of agents who can help you learn more about insects. Alternatively if you can get a good picture under a macro-scope let me know and you can send me a picture via email.

      If the climate is cold where you are then that could be a major issue. I would start by getting a sweeping net. If you can't afford a high quality one I will be posting a new video soon teaching you how to make one for cheaper. Thanks for watching! Have hope and keep trying. Insects are always out there, but sometimes they are hibernating. Try as many places as you can on a warm day and you should have success, but good tools go a long ways with insects.

      I always want my videos to be family friendly so everyone can enjoy them. I am by no means perfect, but I do like to have a lot of self control. Its really necessary to have a lot of self control when handling insects because if you get nervous or let your body take control you can get bitten more often by scaring the insects or spiders you are handling. This is especially true when handling more dangerous specimens like when I have held black widow spiders.

      @@JoseRodriguez-jn2ur yeah I think of insect collecting like pokemon in real life to a degree. I always enjoyed finding new pokemon that I had never seen before. There are like 91,000 named species and an estimated 73,000 undescribed species in just the United States. The possibilities are almost limitless and I always find things that are new to me and I have been doing this for years.
