  • Surrounded by voluminous, century-old oak trees in the heart of the Historic Charleston Naval base stands the gorgeous Admiral's House. Otherwise known as Quarters A, this mansion was built in 1905 and has housed the old naval base's top commanding officers.
Charleston Hardware Co. helped reproduce the original hardware for the Admiral's House in order to help preserve the history of it. Check out some of the renovation progress in this video above.

I loved living on base as a kid. Sad to see the decay, but so grateful to see these renovations! Who is renovating these homes? Thank you for your great work.

Hi David! That must have been very special growing up. The contractor for this renovation was Spratlin & Son Construction from Georgia!

I have been intrigued by this house since they first opened the base up to civilians. I have viewed the exterior so many times, and have sat and drawn this home from several angles over the years. You could see the decay taking over. Then it got fenced off. I assumed it was because it was in danger of collapse. I was so existed to hear it was going to be renovated!
I hope that people would be allowed to view the interior at some point. I feel I know the house exterior well. I would love to see the inside just once to complete the image in my mind now. With authentic reproductions, the house will truly be alive again.
