THE SWEET SWEET SOUND OF NO BLUES ROCK
LOL - Where's my t-shirt?
Fr its all u hear on any guitar demo videos and in any open mic/open jams in merica
Hadn't heard no blues rock for a while
@@petesbeats4829 Watch most guitar demos. Not as bad now, as there was a lot of backlash.
"No blues rock."
My man.
Didn't expect this reaction ahah. (*bows*)
“No blues rock” thank god
I'm with you on that one!
Why man, dont you want to enjoy good old classic rock blues licks over and over 🤣🤣🤣
@@gcoudert YES
Honestly, I dislike when I hear a demo done with blues rock. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a fantastic genre, but everyone and their mother has done the blues rock demo to death!
it doesn't even properly show off the gear they're demoing a lot of the time. i swear, some of these youtubers will grab a pedal named "BLOODMASTER DEATH METAL MK-666", crank the knobs to 10 o'clock and play Stevie Ray Vaughan licks...
"No blues rock" I love it haha.
Those cleans tho.
Right? So clean.
Vox AC chime with Roland JC stereo. Very nice setup.
I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited to watch a video by simply reading the title
That sounds REALLY good. Pro tone. No noise. Sounds like the radio. Thanks for sharing!
The definition of Clean.
Thank you for making a demo of this amp and literally playing anything other than a god damn blues solo.
And for that, I am so bloody thankful.
That riff is pretty Johnny Marr-esque. Dig it!
Best clean amp ever. I had the jazz chorus 160 what a huge sound. Later i got 2 120 fantastic sound.
Love your playing by the way
kudos on the audio quality was not expecting!!
The gold standard of clean tone ….!
Couldn’t agree more!
Clicked video out of appreciation for your humorous title, stayed for nice playing. Man I miss having that amp in my studio back in the early 00’s. We didn’t appreciate it then smh
That ambient section sounded very nice!
Thank you!
I sometimes use the Vox AC15 in combination with the JC-120 to add that classic "chimey" tone on top of the chorus..I'll make a video on that next.
ua-cam.com/video/26hXTrTGPGY/v-deo.html
That pad stuff you were doing reminds me a touch of “India” by the Psychedelic Furs. Absolutely class. Perfect tones my man.
Thanks! I’ll have to check that song out.
Great to listen to some beautiful clean sounds. I miss that sound in nowadays music.
That amp sounds killer. Love the jangly tones and that chorus!
Can't get much better!
I love my JC40!
It’s so crisp and clear!
You had me at "no talking or blues rock"
You made me want to buy one. By the way, yours is also very good, exquisite taste.
Glad I could help!
Thank you for the no dad/butt/lawyer rock and just the sweet swirl of the JC-120. :)
Lawyer rock 🪨
Hey! I’m a dad! Haha but I get what you mean. I agree 100%! Lawyer rock! Hahaha
@@borealico Ha, thank you for being a good sport. I wish I knew a better way to articulate it but it gets the job done. Peace to you. :)
Probably the best title ever
ALSO good job micing both speakers... have seen a few JC demos where they demo the chorus with only one mic on the cab. Nice playing.
Agreed that's why I decided to make these videos!
If you haven't heard this dude's album, you have to check it out.
I can definitely hear the stereo separation. Sounds fantastic. How does the JC compare to the Vox?
Two different animals...
Actually, I started using them together for when I want some big overdriven chords. The sound is MASSIVE.. especially with the chorus on. I will make a video on that next!
“No blues rock” amen
nice and beautifull sound!
Thanks!
I really appreciate the clean setup
I spend more time tidying up the studio than making music probably lol
Man, that sounds great
Thanks!
I'd love to hear the amp with the strat you have in the background! Nice video!
Nothing like a lush stereo chorus.
There's just something about it right?
no blues rock? subscribed
You've earned a sub man! Love it!
Got to love the tittle
SOLD. Buying one now
Subscribed after I saw "no blues rock" in the title. Have never watched a single vid but seeing a gear demo without it almost made me cry.
thats why ilike jazz chorus 120 cuz there loud and clear....btw dude nice job
No blues rock !! Thanks !!!
I can hear that bluesy bendy lick we all do in the pentatonic scale
Subscribed bc 'no blues rock'(and no talking).
haha thanks!
Good job, good sound...
Thanks!
I feel like buying a JC is for one reason and one reason only, and that doesn't take away from it at all
Great playing! Very unique demo
Thanks!
Does the Roland get that “fuzzy” sound like the Vox when using heavier distortions?.. or does it accept these pedals better? Love my AC30 btw!
i have one, and run a loud fuzz and distortion into it and i would say it doesn’t get that iconic fuzzy sound from an ac30, it doesn’t take some fuzz pedals very well but with some eq you can get it right. you just have to have the volume low or you will blow your ears out lol
Gustavo Adrián Cerati!!!
Lovely sounds! Incredible!
Thanks!
Wow. No Zep, no EC, no ZZTop - I’d doff my cap if I was wearing one. Bravo.
loll thanks!
I'm quite surprised at the amount of people that are hating on blues demos haha
Watch enough guitar demos and anybody’d be sick of blues
I've always used a virtual rig just for convenience, but damn I really want one of these. Nice video. Imma click off tho before I get too tempted to empty out my wallet
Ayo it's boomer guitar review man on da non-boomer review
@@olliethompson9252 The fact that people clicked on this to avoid the boomer reviews is so damn funny and awesome hahah I love it
@@EdwinSantiago19 yeah lmao he knew what he was doing with the no blues rock title
Oh look, the nasty distorted tone guy
Your video titles destroy mine lol
That's what my guitar player used to have, a JC 120, I was the bass player. So now that I'm learning guitar I think this is the amp that I want. Hey just curious you have it mic'd up with two mics, is that for going through the other amp to just make it louder or is that for recording purposes?
The two mics are simply to record the chorus effect giving it that wide sound (if you’re wearing headphones you’ll notice the difference when I flick the chorus switch on)
I like the riff better than I do the guitar sound. Tasty.
Sounds great. “No blues rock”LOL👍
I was using a JC120 as a pedal platform back in 1987!? Guitarcheologist since '79.
I feel like a dinosaur now looking back, but some great memories, we had stacks of Marshall amps & Roland JC120's for our 'dirty / clean' sounds/tones & our overdrive
or heavy / lead channels the Marshalls did the trick. Then for our clean / airy-fairy stuff we'd use the Rolands. Great amps despite being solid-state, they make excellent pedal platforms, JC120's are the bees' knees, the lizards' gizzards & the ducks' nuts!
Far too much guitar & rock n' roll is grossly insufficient, woefully inadequate
and nowhere near enough - you know it makes sense!?. Peace, respect & f*$k 👿Covid.

Melhor amplificador de todos!
Thinking Pretenders and Chrissie Hyndes. Nice 😎
I had one of those, one of the loudest amps i ever had, very nice sound, scarey powerful
You had me at "no blues"
the sound is incredible, clear, precise and musical. I'll be curious to see what happens with active pickups.
That's a good idea actually, not sure I've sen any demos of that.
Sounds absolutely fantastic. Cool idea for a video, maybe run some different drive pedals into it so we can hear how well it takes pedals
Hi, sounds pefect..i mean it doesn't sound hissy as those amps usually do...did you fix it?
Nope I haven’t fixed anything. There is some hiss though for sure maybe not as much as you typically hear on UA-cam
@Walter Coyle Neither mine (70s)... read about that on the web
Idk if its been asked here already, but please what are the effects used on that last dreamy riff?!?!
@@TheAlmightyJue the last one is guitar - Morley volume pedal (for the swells) - strymon volante (which I click the loop and reverse button) - Eventide space - JC120. Hope that helps!
How did you get rid of the noise ?
To be honest I didn't do anything other than set up the two mics. As I did this a few years ago I don't remember exactly, but I may have spent extra time placing the mics to pick up the least amount of noise..or maybe I'm lucky and it's not so noisy like they usually are?
How did you get rid of the noise / waterfall noise of the amp? I dint hear anything but mine has alot of noise. Thanks
I’d love to hear the volante pedal through this. I’d like to also add to the group of people saying thanks for no blues rock
the riff around 2:13 reminds me of part of 2112
Using a Roland with a Telecaster and not talking for 40 minutes only to play 2 minutes of shitty blues rock licks?? IMPOSSIBLE
I want one! Actually, I'd settle for a JC-22 or 40 but they aren't cheap either.
Hey! I just bought a Roland JC-120, and I'm experiencing a loud buzz that goes up with the Volume. Do you know of any fixes? It's a brand new one
Unfortunately I have no idea! I'm not much of a tech. I'd have to find an amp repair guy if that happened to me. If it's brand new though they should have a warranty I would think.
Bahahaha that's my main guitar! Jealous you have the FSR model with the 9.5" fingerboard though. My red one is the more round 7.25" spec. Cool tones, man.
How'd you know it was the FSR with 9.5"? Good eye.. or are you able to tell by the year?
@@3riccarlson the FSR came in 3 tone burst and black, and had the 9.5" boards. The normal ones were natural or candy apple red, and had the round boys.
Nice chords, is it a song?? or just test chords?
All just riffs I made up for the video
Amazing Sound I'm also considering buying an original JC-120 but due to the highh prices atm. maybe an JC-77 or JC-90 will do it?
Some used JC120 are near the prices of those two models. I'm contemplating the same thing, but I really don't wish to haul the JC120.
This was well recorded wtf
Haha. Thanks
that first song sounded like Goo Goo Dolls
I must have been subconsciously thinking about Goo Goo Dolls' "Acoustic #3"
@@3riccarlson Exactly my thoughts!
It does sound sweet ❤ I get tired of the head banger distortion sound though I like rock/blues Roland sounds Crispy clear reverb I have to pay off Zzounds before I could afford a Roland.😢😂😅
Dude, that is Eric Johnson caliber. Keep it up.
I can't agree that I am anywhere near Eric Johnson so maybe you are referring to just the tone? Either way thanks!
@@3riccarlson Ive been playing guitar for about 45 years. I can spot talent. Keep it up.
Finally a no blues demo, fuck
Beautiful! What Space setting is that?
Pretty sure I used Ekospace.
Plants grow lusher when given no blues rock, thats a fact
what pedal are you using at 3:20?
I’m using Morley Little Alligator volume pedal into a Eventide Space on the Ekospace preset
nice sch1 on the board
Good eye!
Zero blues rock noodling makes me happy.
I'ts 2x12 2x10?
2 x 12
"no blues rock" is the new "cellar door"
LOL love it
what is the first song you’re playing?
is it goo goo dolls?
@@yourbuddykevin Nope, it's just a riff I made up for this video. Now that you say it though I hear the similarity to Acoustic #3 by the GGD.
Just for no blues rock alone this video deserves a like. LOL jk suberb demo man. Awesome job
I appreciate that!
Thank you for the not blues
No blues rock but a perpetual repeating of some twinky sounding rhythm
thank you for not playing blues rock
You're welcome
"No talking or blues rock" = 'the 2 worst things in any video' 😹
No Blues Rock? Almost made me not want to watch the video! Just didn't realize there was so much enmity for this wonderful style of music! It is likely a tad overused for demos though...
It's mostly about the overuse than actual animosity towards the genre I think. There's more to guitar playing than pentatonic licks, but sometimes guitar gear demos don't show anything else.
God bless you for not playing blues rock
Yeah, but how does it sound with constant noodling around that no one on earth wants to hear?? 🤪
Never seen someone look like such a dork when they play 😆
Now you have!
no blues rock lol...whats the point of playing guitar if you dont like blues rock? you think this grade school elevator guitar music you're playing sounds better? lol
I do not play blues rock. I write pop music. So, when I look up gear reviews and hear someone playing blues rock it doesn't give me a realistic expectation of how it may sound in my hands. These videos are geared towards others like me.
On yer bike Jeff
Bet you just play sweet home Alabama on a loop
implying the only reason to play guitar is to play blues rock? bro what planet are u living on.
