E-23 was a First-Or-Second-Class alternative cabin on the starboard side of the E-Deck. This was the cabin of Margaret Brown.
The cabin in real life was most likely simple and plain, not the luxurious living quarters, generally seen in First Class cabins. It had a folding lavatory, two beds, two wardrobes, a dressing table, a single electric heater, and a chair.

It’s so strange to see how her cabin looked in real life when in James Cameron’s film, when she’s helping Jack with the white tie dining suit in her room, the panelling for instance is that of one of the rooms on B, or C deck.

It's interesting- I love Titanic 1997 but it could never cover everything, and so it glosses over some aspects of First Class, such as the less plush cabins on E deck, or the fact that almost all first class cabins did not have private bathrooms. Plus of course Second Class is almost entirely unmentioned, which is a bit of a shame.

Surprisingly minimal for such an outsized personality.

Indeed, her cabin was located in one of the lowest decks of the ship, although she could probably afford a better one, that's for sure.

@@titanictreasures Did the Titanic have rooms that could "swing" either to first or second class? This looks like a possibility here. Cheapest first-class ticket with access to first-class amenities. Most expensive second-class room with access only to second-class amenities.

@@roystrickland3363I'm don't think so because as far as I know, first class and second class spaces were separated and the access was under control. I'll search about it :)

@@titanictreasureshe’s right actually there are cabins on E deck that were interchangeable with 1st class and second class passengers

Call me crazy but I’m not impressed with the rooms on the titanic. They seem awfully tiny and cramped for the price they asked for.

Not crazy at all. It’s just the 1st class standards for ocean liners were quite different from what we are used to nowadays (or what’s shown in movies). In reality, the first class passengers used common lavatories and showers. There were very few bathtubs on the ship.

That was the standard for the 1910s, but there's more luxurious cabins on the upper decks

Wasn’t she a first class passenger, or just in the movie?

She was, this is a regular 1st class cabin.
