I still remember being a kid having no money wanting to create and edit… all popular tools were on subscription back then and now , davinci stood out as a free alternative and I just was so happy I couldn’t believe how such a good tool could be free. I have too much respect for this guy
This interview sold me on getting a Black Magic Pocket. But even more so, Grant's view on how traditional organizations have misaligned interests with their customers and society resonated with me. I understand that the CEO of a digital camera company is a niche interest, but this guy is really special, and this interview is a gem for those lucky enough to find it.

Just a simple observation, when the old guards go out of their way to be hostile to your new company, that’s a strong sign you’re on to something good or have a killer product. Love how genuine Grant comes across, very likeable and honest hard worker who’s put in the hard yards and has a deep understanding of the industry. Hope he shoots for and reaches the stars.

Very interesting thought process and insight as to how the economy and humans work / don't work. Interesting thinking re CEOs and coding, a lot of truth in that. BMD have certainly made an impact and will likely continue to innovate.

It will be interesting to see if this ever happens in the future. But as for what I've got out of this great interview, it is very unlikely that this company goes on market because it would disrupt the way they work. The basis ideology of company eg the Grants personal philosophy as being product and consumer centric would be destroyed by spreadsheets and chasing the next quartal numbers.
We can see a live example of Adobe destroying Adobe while trying to please the spreadsheets and going on a monthly payment basis so the consumer never actually owns a product. I don't know how they stock prices and yields look like at the moment, but what I see is more and more people switching to other products that are just as good if not better, as is the case of Davinci Resolve vs Adobe Premiere and Adobe AE.
