They're both a couple of cocky guys. It happens when you win that much. But in the last few years Burroughs has had some humbling moments and Dake hasn't. But it's not like Dake's defense vs Burrough's offense hasn't been tested before.

How can you say Dake hasn’t had any humbling moments? He’s been “humbled” by Burroughs every single time Dake tried to make an Olympic or World team since 2013. However, every single time they have wrestled, it has come after Dake has had to wrestle 3-4 of the top guys in the world, then Burroughs in the finals where he was waiting for the other finalist to wrestle through the entire bracket. Dake was a bit bitter about that, because he always kept it close after having to wrestle 3-4 other matches and Burroughs just being able to sit back and rest all day. Then, when Burroughs would beat Dake, he would talk shit later about how he has never lost to him and all that worthless rhetoric. Burroughs has been in a 10 year path of destruction for the US at his weight class. It was time for someone else to step in and take over, and I’m glad it was Dake that won the 2021 Olympic Trials.

@@tropicalterrarium1742 Dake won world titles at a non Olympic weight class. That's where the all of worlds wrestlers who can't make team at 74Kg and 86Kg complete. Still incredibly impressive but it is not the same as winning a world title at 74Kg. He might not have won a medal at 74Kg. The only reason Kyle went to 79Kg is because he couldn't beat Jordan or J'den. If he was truly as confident as he tries to portray he wouldn't have moved weights twice to run away from Jordan and J'den.
JB is definitely not a good sport. Go watch that US Open match where he squeezes his thumb deep into Dake's eye 100% on purpose. Lost all respect for JB at that moment.

Dake won the gold though last year, Burroughs bronze. It's not like either of them should get an advantage in this case.
Dake didn’t WANT Burroughs to forego his sit-out, he CHALLENGED Burroughs to forego his sit-out, because Burroughs was bragging about taking him down and never losing a match to Dake, when clearly Dake is going to be at a Disadvantage if he is literally having to beat prior world and Olympic medalists AND go an extra 7 minutes of overtime with Howe just prior to meeting Burroughs in the finals. Dake was making a great point, because Burroughs said the sit-out was to no advantage AT ALL and it wouldn’t make a difference rather he sat out or wrestled the entire tournament, which is why Dake said if it’s no different and there’s no benefit, the rescind your sit-out.
Idk how much more compelling this argument can get.
Also, why would Dake want to rescind his semi-finals sit-out spot when, for the first time ever, he has the chance to wrestle Burroughs while being the most rested he has ever been going into the match AND Burroughs isn’t rescinding his sit-out this year. So, it’s kind of idiotic for you to bring up the idea that, “well, Dake isn’t rescinding his sit-out after all he just said about Burroughs...”
Oh, and by the way...Dake stomped Burrough’s ASS last weekend in the 2021 Olympic trials. The match was never even close.

KD and JB are just already selling tickets for the Olympic trials whenever that's going to be. Always been a great marketing strategy to sell tickets by arguing.
Somehow you are the only person that noticed. Ben Askren is there to help... Throw in Don King and Conor McGregor and maybe these doors would see what's going on here.
Tickets have already been sold for the trials. The trials are cancelled but the old tickets will be honored when the trials occur.
And it is not staged or fake. Both are world champions and believe they will win.
This is great Dake really resents Burroughs for beating him all those times at the US team trials. Burroughs always had the advantage of being rested while Dake wrestled a full tournament and JB got the bye to the finals. Dake is now X2 world champ and was probably the 2nd best wrestler in the world the years JB beat him at the trials. This is an awesome rivalry and its great sometimes you need one of the competitors to get a little salty and get things heated. It makes the OLympic trials all that more interesting.

Gotta give Dake credit for being the best in the world (other than Burroughs beating him after Dake wrestles a gauntlet of an entire mini tournament). Both Dake and Colby can back it up, just barely losing to the number one guys and nobody else even close. Why did this comment turn into hating/loving one or the other? They're both beasts!

Dude are you serious? If anybody was in Dake's position they would be complaining too. At the trials, Jordan pretty much gets to the championship finals for free while Dake has to wrestle his way up there. So obviously you're going to be exhausted and have a huge disadvantage.

@@homelessinamerica2117 Dake ran away from Burroughs in 2016 and moved to 86kg only to lose to J'den Cox and then when he figured he couldn't make world team at 74Kg (JB's weight) or 86Kg he went to a non Olympic weight (79Kg) to finally make a world team. When JB didn't medal in the 2016 Olympics Dake had his chance at a non-rested Burroughs in the US Open and still lost. Dake always has excuses, you don't ever here Burroughs making excuses. If he thought he was better he would have stayed at 74Kg and tried to be JB but instead he moves weight and then acts like an arrogant dick to a guy he has a 1-7 record against.

Tropical Terrarium Taylor has gotten extremely better but in an olympic weight class. We can’t say Dake is better than Burroughs when he wrestles in a depleted weight class. Burroughs would win in 79kg too.
1) For the actual debate question: who was the best folkstyle 165 pounder of the decade? There's no right answer. Both were incredible. Great offense vs. nearly impenetrable defense.
2) Dake ambushed Burroughs in this podcast. JB didn't know Dake would be there and was expecting a normal relaxed interview with just the Flo guys, while KD knew he wanted to come out guns blazing and try to get under JB's skin. JB tried to keep it friendly by asking "How you doing, Kyle" at the beginning, and throughout the interview, he didn't take KD's obvious trolling and kept his chill.
3)While the question of who was better in college is a tossup (in my view), if you ask who was the better plain wrestler over the past decade between the two, the answer isn't even up for debate. JB by a healthy margin. Way more world titles. Way more medals. Way better head-to-head.
4)While #3 isn't up for debate, the question of who would win today is a hot one. It's hard to bet against Dake based on his recent dominance. On the other hand, the narrative of JB getting old/losing a step is overblown. At the last two world championships, he has only lost to the eventual champion Sidakov. On both occasions, he was winning until the last three seconds where Sidakov got a pushout to tie the score & win on criterion (which subsequently became one-point wins after USA challenged, with nothing to lose). JB is still gold level.
5) Although I think Dake definitely laid on the douchiness pretty thick to troll JB, I've seen Dake talk enough (especially when discussing other competitors) to know that he can naturally be a bit of a cocky prick.

You mistook his confidence for insecurity. 2-0 at the Olympic trials haha, JB isn't beating Dake anymore. Honestly, if you go look at their old matches their is some godawful reffing anyways. JB had the refs on his side in almost every match they had.
@Belal GZ Even I was skeptical at first but I went back and watched them and it's crazy how much they favored JB. Dake got called for passivity literally 5 seconds after a shoot and reshoot in one match. In another, they give a point to Borroughs to put him in the lead with 10 seconds left in the 3rd. Then there are countless instances of questionable scoring of takedowns at the edge of the mat. Not to mention the whole thing where Dake had to wrestle like 5 times while JB just got to sit around until their match, which is a flaw with the system. Seeding is one thing, but that's too much, in my opinion. Dake really did have an uphill battle but he proved everyone wrong and didn't just beat Borroughs, but dominated him at the Olympic trials. I'm happy for him and can't wait to watch him at the Olympics.

Kyle is only 5% stronger than Jordan. Everything else speed, movement, instincts, explosiveness etc. is the reason why he’s 7-1 against him. He needs to show some respect.

Prime JB was too athletic for Dake but Dake knows Burroughs is not in his prime no more and Dake is a World Champion he feels this could be the first time he can officially crush Burroughs.
😂 that’s ridiculous. Dake has officially surpassed JB, not that there wasn’t a time when JB had the edge, but it was inevitable Dake was going to surpass him. Truth is Dake was at his level YEARS ago, he had a much tougher road and had to wrestle murderers Row just to get to JB, so a fresh JB vs a Dake who already wrestled 3 matches against some of the best in the world. So being on JP level or even edging him wasn’t going to be enough, he had to really surpass him to beat him which is what he did.

If they’re talking strictly NCAA, Dake has a point in this conversation.
Dake had the greater collegiate career. This isn't about the whole career it's about 165's. Jordan was the best in the world not just college. Neither Dake nor Taylor were at that level fresh out of senior year. That tells you whos peak was stronger. Do I think that collegiate rules would help Dake, yes, but blast double is a blast double either style.

Buddy Ol pal no way. Jordan is one of the best in this era. I believe he gets over look in many ways. If Dakes doesn't beat him then what. Look at the number of times they have wrestle. JB has came out on top. Kyle is special in his own way but it's only going to take as long as he did to beat a would be 32 year old.
