True, Mugove was one of the most loved musical releases ever produced in Zimbabwe. I remember back then it was a hit that spread like veld-fire everywhere in homes, commuters, beer halls, gatherings, etc both nationwide and across the borders. Leonard Zhakata and the late Thomas Makion backed by the Maungwe Brothers band, gained their earliest popularity when they released "Shungu Dzemoyo" a song that touched many people's hearts in a video played during a ZBC program called Mutinhimira Wemimhazi (Ezomgido). Shungu Dzemoyo's popularity was short-lived when, in 1994, these guys released an album called Maruva Enyika on which an astounding track, "Mugove" shook the nation. He was 26 back then and the youngest musician of the time to sell more than 100K copies of that album. I think that the release timing was also convenient at that time because something called "ESAP" was happening and many were being retrenched from their jobs, Mugove lyrics delivered the quenching message to the working class of the day. I hope this will inspire our younger musicians like you to do your best and more in the industry.
