Former Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has blamed American sanctions on aviation parts for the helicopter crash that killed President Ebrahim Raisi.
In an interview with state TV, Zarif stated that the sanctions hinder Iran's access to modern aviation facilities, implicating the US in the crash.
The incident, which occurred on Sunday in northwestern Iran, claimed the lives of President Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and their entourage.
Zarif emphasised, "One of the culprits behind yesterday's tragedy is the United States, because of its sanctions that bar Iran from procuring essential aviation parts."
