The best advice I got as a man is "nobody's coming to help you" in today's world I think this goes for women too
hydroxyzine is what i take for sleep its a anxiety medicine but puts me to bed good stuff. cogentin gets rid of my shakes and restlessness
Lack of sleep causes so many problems, I remember when I came off quetiapine I struggled with sleep for around a month while my haloperidol got increased, so my sleeping tablet got increased I was on zolpidem because zopiclone causes me to hallucinate, but yeah lack of sleep really does impact your day to day life.
Yes it's horrible to deal with
Stopping quetiapine completely from 300mg is crazy, withdrawal insomnia is brutal. Psychiatrists seem to often be irresponsible in certain decisions, in my experience anyway. Not all of them, though. Sucks that you have to keep seeing different ones and so your treatment is inconsistent. Also I hope you feel less anxious soon.
Thank you and yeah it's so frustrating to see different clinicians all the time! I was experiencing some shaking as withdrawal
I agree. If some psychiatrists see bpd they think you shouldn't be on any meds. My (old) psychiatrist stopped my quetiapine and I went into a depression with psychosis but he didn't care. This is in the UK. I lucky changed psychiatrist now.
Sounds down right dangerous, actually. I don't even understand how Dr.s can do this. Tapering needs to be a slow process for safety. More oversight is clearly needed. Rolling the dice with someone's mental health is not what doctors are supposed to be doing.
Good morning Alana and thank you for sharing your struggles. You are very brave and strong.
My psychiatrist stopped all 4 of my medications, abruptly last Monday, quetiapine being one of them and I’m still not sleeping😭He did leave the lorazepam. I see him tomorrow and he wants to start lithium, going to decline it. I’ve been in SI state for weeks. When I’m experiencing all of what you talked about I’m totally non-functional and isolate. I’m in the USA which these days is super depressing 💔
What your PsychDr did sounds dangerous, so many potential withdrawal effects. If I had a psychiatrist who did that, personally I'd find another. I find Psych NP's to be more compassionate. I hope you are okay. I also understand that it can take time and be difficult to find a PsychDr in the US, as there are not enough of them in many states.
@ hi 👋 it was a trial of only being on them 10 days, he’s actually a good psychiatrist who I totally trust and am lucky to have had him for over a year now, he is the head of a psych hospital here and has saved my life more than once. My body is just super sensitive to certain medications and we are letting these wash out of me before moving onto the next, it’s trial and error. But you are correct there is a shortage of psych docs and therapists since COVID and especially now as many are in shock here as to what is happening under the current “President” . Thank you so much for your feedback💓💓💓
